Chapter 4

After completing the formalities to leave the pack, I walked away from the pack I had lived in for five years.

Even though this wasn’t my hometown, it was the first place where I had truly fought for my footing after coming of age. I had worked myself to the bone to prove to my parents that I wasn't some sheltered kid who survived on family support. I didn't rely on my family or connections, only on myself.

In the end, what I got was being expelled from the pack.

As I stood in the empty apartment, I felt as if my heart was being cut apart.

Some members came out one by one to see me off, offering words of comfort.

"Eunice, kicking you out is Mr. White's loss. You're so capable. I'm sure another pack will take you in. Don't take Peyton's words to heart."

I just gave a faint smile.

Peyton wasn't that powerful.

At the airport, I received a call from Uncle Nigel, who had been out of contact for two weeks.

"There's unrest breaking out in a pack, and I have to step in personally. I probably won't be able to attend your pack's dinner party next month."

"Uncle Nigel, I've already left the pack," I replied dully.

There was a brief pause on the other end. "What happened? Did that guy, Matt, bully you? You're the only reason I agreed to go to that dinner party, and he had the guts to kick you out of the pack? Never mind. If you don't have anywhere to go, come stay with me for now. I'll take care of you."

"Thanks, Uncle Nigel. But I also want to ask one more thing. Let me attend next month's dinner party on your behalf."

He agreed without hesitation.

After hanging up, I curled my lips into a smile.

The real show was about to begin.

On the day of the dinner party, Matt made a huge spectacle of welcoming the Alpha King at the airport. Not only that, but every pack's Alpha had been invited, and the airport was packed with wolves.

When I stepped off the plane surrounded by guards, everyone froze.

Matt and Peyton were especially surprised. Their gazes were sharp and hostile.

Peyton looked at me with disdain. "You've already been expelled from the pack. How do you still have the nerve to come back?"

I glanced at her from the corner of my eye. "Have you ever considered that I might be here to attend your dinner party on the Alpha King's behalf?"

Peyton looked down at me. "Is this a joke? The Alpha King is my father! If anyone's representing him, it would be me. Who do you think you are? You're not even worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as him."

Seeing Peyton pressing aggressively, the captain of the guard who had come with me stepped forward and blocked her path.

He looked down at Peyton coldly, his eyes full of menace. Under his gaze, Peyton instinctively stepped back two paces.

The captain spoke sternly, "That's the Alpha King's representative. Show some respect."

The moment those words fell, everyone was stunned. Peyton's face instantly went pale.

"W-What did you say? S-she's what?"

Calmly, I took out a golden badge and raised it above my head.

This was a royal-exclusive badge, something only direct royal relatives could possess. The gold one in my hand was the Alpha King's personal insignia.

Ignoring Peyton's stunned expression, I announced in front of everyone present, "In my capacity as the Alpha King's representative, I hereby declare that from this day forward, no pack is permitted to have any dealings with Matt White's pack."

Matt's pupils shrank sharply as he glared at me. "Who do you think you are?! How dare you speak on the Alpha King's behalf!"

I looked at him calmly. "Didn't I already tell you? I'm the Alpha King's representative."

Peyton stared at me in disbelief. "How do you have my father's badge? Who are you really, and what right do you have to make decisions for the Alpha King?"

I looked at her coldly and spoke the truth that shocked everyone present.

"I am the Alpha King's niece!"
