RYAN

After an absolutely awful night—one where, thankfully, there were no fires or tragedies to deal with, but the paperwork was a nightmare. I am so exhausted that all I want to do is get home and sleep after a twenty-seven-hour shift spent doing nothing but filing and checking inventory.

My phone starts ringing somewhere in the car, and as I fumble around for it without taking my eyes off the road, a little white cotton ball darts into my path. I am barely conscious of slamming on the brakes and gripping the steering wheel tight, bracing myself for the impact.

When I look up, I see a petite brunette looking at me with incredibly sad eyes, leaning against the hood of my car. Her face is covered in smudged makeup and her hair is a mess, but she is still absolutely beautiful.

"Oh my God!" I hear her say, breathing heavily. Her hands hit my car, shooting me a look of pure hatred. Does she know me? I don't think so; I wouldn't forget someone like her. She is simply captivating.

Without taking her eyes off me, she raises both hands and flips me off with both middle fingers. I start laughing at how bold this girl is.

I get out of the car, ready to ask her why she is so angry. But when I do, I am hit by a sweet strawberry scent. You have got to be kidding me! I am in shock, looking her up and down; she is in a wedding dress. My mate is in a wedding dress.

As I stand there, with a dry mouth and a racing pulse, in front of the cutest, most vulnerable, and furious little thing I have ever seen in my life, everything stopped. I couldn't see anyone else, and I couldn't understand who could have hurt her to the point of leaving her in this state.

My hands itched to touch her; my eyes could only watch her with hunger, desire, and love. The fire in her eyes shifted between anger and desperation. I want to help her, but judging by her demeanor, if I got too close, I would get hurt.

"April!" the shouting man runs toward her. April? Pretty name. "Are you okay?"

"Am I okay?" she starts laughing, pulling away from his touch. "No, David, I am clearly not okay, and it's your fault." I didn't like this. What did this idiot do to her?

"Maybe we should talk about this in private, no one wants to hear about our problems." Is he scared? She simply bends down, picks up her shoes, and starts walking away from this David guy. "We need to go back, there is still time to fix everything." At that moment, I saw her spin around, completely shocked.

"Fix everything? Are you kidding me?" She throws a shoe at him, making him duck to avoid getting hit. People are starting to gather to watch the show. "You cheated on me on our wedding day. Actually, sorry, you have been cheating on me for a long time. Did it feel good to play me for a fool?" It seems my mate has caught her breath, proving to me that her lungs work perfectly fine.

"April, there is an explanation for everything, sweetheart, if we could just talk—" but at that moment, the other shoe goes flying, hitting him right in the stomach. A smile starts to form on my face, but it quickly fades when I see her walk over to a guy on a motorcycle.

"Get me out of here," she says, hopping on. The moment she does, the motorcycle roars to life and speeds away with her.

"David, are you okay?" another man in a suit approaches him. "April sure has good aim despite just being a vet. Who would have thought she had that kind of temper?" I watch them as they stand up, their eyes fixed on the road where that little runaway bunny disappeared.

Coming back to my senses, I get back into my car. I had spent that whole moment completely frozen. I must have looked like a fool. But on the bright side, I have discovered a few things today.

First, my mate was about to get married, but she didn't.

Second, her name is April and she is a veterinarian. Now I just have to figure out where she works before I go crazy.

Third, she has a hell of a temper and a great throwing arm. And lastly, she is the most perfect little thing I have ever seen in my life.

Everything in me wants to go after her, but it is obvious I need to give her a few days to heal from this heartbreak.

Letting out one last sigh, I start the engine and go back to my original plan.

Barely awake, my door is assaulted by knocking. I curse, walk over, and open it extremely reluctantly.

"Are you ready?" I look at him, confused. "We are all getting together today, come on Ryan, it is our night off, don't be a buzzkill."

"Nathan, I am tired, I don't feel like going out." I just want to think about my mate. Although thinking about it also makes me impatient. I need to know, where the hell did she go?

"Come on, Ryan, I am not moving from here until you are ready." He makes himself comfortable, putting his feet up on my table. Grunting, I go get changed, knowing that keeping him here would be worse.

"I am not staying long, I need to rest," I warn him, considering what I really need is to figure out how to find her.

"I have a feeling this is going to be a good night, man." If it goes anything like my day, I doubt it.

Once we get to the bar, I see the guys gathered at a table in the back, completely oblivious to everything around them. I take a glance at the bar counter and see a flash of white. Could it be?

Ignoring my friends who are calling out to me, I walk over to see if it is her.

When I realize that it is, I sit down next to her; I won't let anyone else get close to her.

It seems Nathan was right to insist on coming to this place.

AbbyI stalled by walking around almost the entire hospital. There were still many unattended patients, which gave me the perfect excuse to delay our conversation. I did not even know if he was awake yet and I was already making up excuses to avoid seeing him.Very good maturity level, Abigail Colman! As I walked slowly, very slowly, to the room where Michael was, I thought about what I would say to him. The guys said I should let him explain, Dr. Myers said I should face my ghosts. And I knew Ryan had been the most accurate; I was resisting out of fear of losing someone important to me again. My resistance was so strong that I almost lost him today. What would have happened if they had not managed to get him out? What if he had bled to death on the way? I tried to ignore the feelings of pain and the tightness forming in my chest just thinking about it.When I entered the room, he was still unconscious. He looked so peaceful that I envied that state. My hand seemed to have a mind of i

AbbyI could hear them talking and it calmed me to know that they had not suffered serious injuries either. I approached almost soundlessly, while they continued their conversation. They were so focused that they did not seem to notice me."He is a fucking idiot, we told him to get out and he did not do it. What was he planning? To kill himself?" Logan growled."We know he is not the same, he is even more reckless than before." As I observe Jack, I can see how his arm is still bleeding. Despite being told that they were treated, I see that they were not."Do you think he is okay? He was quite hurt." Stepping out of my hiding spot, I decide to answer the question that was meant for Jack."He is fine, he just needs a few stitches. I took care of treating him, so he should wake up any minute."When they looked up at me, I leaned in to grab the necessary things to treat Jack's arm. They just looked at me as if trying to figure out if it was really me and how they should talk to me."They

Abby"Abby, could you go check on Mr. Thomas?" I looked at Elena, my new nursing supervisor."Sure, I will go right now," I commented with a slight smile.I have spent this last month trying to get used to my new routine. It was hard to get the transfer, but when I achieved it, I did not hesitate. I could not stay there, I did not feel comfortable.I have not seen anyone since that day; since I ran, I completely moved away from the city. Let's call it a fresh start, one where I was completely alone, where I had no family, no friends, and not the boy I love.It was not easy to leave all that behind, especially considering that your head seems to fight against the idea of not seeing him anymore. I just need time; with time, everything is forgotten and overcome. Even if I wanted to, I cannot go back now. What would I say? I still cannot shake the image of seeing him turn into that wolf.Dr. Myers, the psychologist I visit every Tuesday afternoon, told me it was common; the loss of a love

AbbyWhen I heard the sound of bones and clothes breaking, I did not understand what the hell was happening. I only knew that I should not look up; I did not want to and I refused to.I tried, but I clearly failed. Only then did I see how that huge dog occupied the place where Michael was before. My mind works in strange ways; I did not understand, or did not want to understand, how the guy I was in love with was a dog. And not in the usual sense, he was literally a dog.I directed my gaze to Jack, but when his eyes met mine, he looked away. I searched for the gaze of the others, and they all avoided me. Did they turn out to be cowards now?Everything was happening too fast. One moment I was watching the dog, or Michael, walk towards us, and I was just hoping he did not want to eat me.I closed my eyes in fear, this was madness. It was surely the stress caused by this situation. But if that was the case, why was the giant dog still walking towards me?"Calm down Abby, he will not hurt

Michael"We found something." When Anibal said that, we were standing right next to him. Mostly me, I do not mind saying it; I grabbed the man by the lapels of his suit and planted a kiss on him worthy of an Oscar. Unfortunately, my display of gratitude was not well received, as he pushed me away and started rubbing his mouth. He does not know how lucky he was.But the good thing was that there was finally news. We were running out of options, we could not think of anywhere else to go. Ordoñez had called to let us know they still had not found anything. Frustrating? Yes, police incompetence was fucking frustrating. But what could we do? According to them, wait for updates, otherwise, we would hinder the search. In my opinion, a damn joke!"What are you waiting for to tell us where they are?" Ryan growled."I am trying to wrap my head around the idea. Believe it or not, it is important to me too. I am fucking in love with Abigail." And there it was again. How many more times was he goi

MichaelSeven hours. Seven fucking hours! They had passed and I still did not have a single damn clue about where my mate was. Thousands of questions swirled in my head and I did not want to answer them for fear they would come true... Where could she be? Were they treating her right? Who the hell was the damn coward that dared to take them? Those were some of the questions that shattered my peace of mind. I was shaking like an addict who had not had his fix."I am getting tired of waiting for that fucking useless guy to move his ass and find my woman," Ryan growled, overly annoyed."You calm down too, we managed to calm down the big guy with a minion complex and now you are starting. Do not mess with me!" At that, I look up, directing my gaze at Robert."Who said I am calm? I am simply waiting for the best moment to act." They are crazy if they think I will be calm with my mate in the hands of a lunatic.I am waiting for them to get distracted so I can run out of here. The first plac
