Chapter Fourteen

ENZO'S POV

"You will?" The doctor asks thoughtfully. "I thought you two just... never mind."

I risk a glance at Gypsy to find her glaring daggers at me. I smile tightly at her. I know she's not pleased with my announcement but what else did she expect?

Mrs. Mehra said Gypsy doesn't live with her. She also said Gypsy has no family, which means she lives alone. Her neighborhood might be crowded, but it's mostly filled with scoundrels; not a place to be when she's already vulnerable.

My offer is the best one available.

"Yes, I'll take her to my house so that I can take care of her myself." I affirm.

She saved my life. This is the least I can do.

"Fine then. But Gypsy, I'll keep you here one more night for some observations. You will go home tomorrow if I decide it's not too much of a risk. Is that okay?"

Gypsy nods, but her eyes are trained on me. It feels like she wants to burn me down with that look. The nurse hands over some drugs to me and tells me they're painkillers just in case.
