Chapter 4

Meanwhile, unknown to the two people in the movie theatre, Rosaline was standing just outside the place when she saw both of them all cuddled up.

Her stomach turned instantly because she wanted her daughter to hold her like that. Even just for once but she knew better that it won't happen, not anytime soon at least.

She wanted movie dates with her daughter, spa time, shopping sprees, and cooking competitions with her daughter but the young woman wouldn't even look in her direction for more than a minute.

Rosaline wanted a relationship with her child but also knew that she'd have to work hard for it. After all, she wasn't always there so her coming all of a sudden to try to win Eleonora will only make her suspicious given her nature.

She quietly left where she was standing to go get the bottle of water she originally planned to get before seeing her daughter and Josephine.

The next day, Eleonora woke up to a sleeping Josephine beside her and she used the time to thank the heavens for blessing her with the woman.

The sun was shining through the large ceiling-to-floor window as it sent its beautiful rays all over the room.

Eleonora was not a religious person and she always avoided religious topics but she knew how to appreciate things in her life when she saw them and she will not stop thanking whoever it was who led Josephine to her parents when they finally decided to pick a caretaker for her since they were always busy.

They couldn't have chosen a better person.

"Why are you staring at me this early in the morning? Am I safe or should I start running away from you, hm?"

Josephine asked with a smile as she pinched Eleanora's cheek making the lady squirm as she whined.

"Nooo, I was just thanking the heavens for sending you to me because you have done so much for me, more than anyone else and I will always be thankful for that," Eleonora got a little teary as Josephine cooed before hugging her.

"I'm thankful for you as well my dear, it has been the best time of my life getting to raise you and watch you grow to be the beautiful young woman you are now.

I gotta say that you were one troublesome kid but that made it more fun since you knew how to put your troubles to good use," Josephine smiled while remembering the teenage Eleonora.

"Okay, okay no crying. I'm the only one allowed to cry here." Eleonora whipped the woman's tears from her face.

Josephine was stunned as she didn't notice that she was crying in the first place.

"I didn't even notice but anyway, let's go off the sad topics. Would you like to elaborate on what you were saying yesterday?"

Josephine asked which made Eleonora still in her position.

"I don't really know since the devils hardly even explained to me but I will try to explain to the best of my ability," Eleonora started as she adjusted her sitting position.

"I finished with a meeting that didn't exactly go the way I wanted and I was raging mad when I went to my office to calm myself down only to come face to face with the devils themselves standing right in the middle of my office," she huffed, getting annoyed at the scene again.

Josephine was quiet with concentration as she spoke.

"I was momentarily stunned but I still managed to ask what they were doing here in New York and the answer I was provided with left me speechless,"

"They just spilt that I'm getting married out of nowhere. It was just dropped like a bomb and they didn't even let me pick up the shackles of my heart breaking to pieces," Eleonora paused as a wave of anger and sadness came over her chest.

They had never considered her feelings. Not once.

"I tried to argue my way out of it only to be slapped in the face with another piece of interesting news that was shared so kindly with me. Apparently, I'd been betrothed since I was born yet I was only informed about it yesterday," Eleonora let out.

"What?" Josephine finally spoke up with shock and she nodded to confirm it.

"They had all the time in the world to tell me yet they kept quiet about the matter. They didn't mention a thing just to waltz out of nowhere and slap me with revelation upon revelation! Like seriously, if what I need needed was revelations in my life, I could always visit the book of Revelations or watch a movie filled with mystery!" Eleonora snapped.

"At last, I happened to be betrothed to Viccorio Russo whom I had only once in my life and that's apart from the very many pictures I've seen and the many rumours I've heard about him," she said as she vaguely remembered the dark energy he gave off.

"In this case, though I'm yet to confirm if all the rumours are true and I have to say, I'm not sure if I'm ready for that," Eleonora shut her eyes tightly, trying to see if she was ready for the long road ahead.

She had always been kept hidden even though she had crazily rich parents and even when she just started her company, she wasn't necessarily known and that came as an advantage.

A few enemies tried to misuse the information but she made sure to keep her identity under tight wraps until whenever she wanted.

"Ma trèsor, don't think about anything right now. Just give yourself a break because heaven knows you need it and don't think I do not know of your endeavours young woman!" Josephine hissed as she leaned closer.

"I am very much aware that you have been working yourself to near death and just because I haven't said anything doesn't mean I like it. I will personally smack you if you don't cut down on your workload for at least the next two weeks," she threatened.

The French woman looked at her notorious daughter and smiled seeing how she looked like a deer in headlights.

No matter how old Eleonora was, she still didn't like Josephine looking at her with her infamous sharp eyes and Josephine knew just that so she used it as her weak point every time.

"How did you find out??" Eleonora was confused.

She had been so careful to avoid this kind of confrontation but it seemed the woman was much more clever!

"Oh, you really did think that telling me goodnight early and hiding in the bathroom to work till the early hours of the morning will really escape me, huh?" Josephine had an amused look on her face.

But Eleonora wasn't exactly thrilled with the look because she knew what was coming next.

There ain't no way Josephine would let her overwork herself and let her just get away with it.

It just can't and wouldn't happen. Not with the French woman.

"What's the verdict?" Eleonora sighed and decided to accept her fate and see where it goes.

"You will be sleeping for seven hours straight under my supervision and also be lucky that that's all I decided to make you do or else you would have been in so much trouble Missy,"

" I can't with you sometimes." Eleonora rolled her eyes.

"Yes yes, thank you, Jossy. Love you too, by the way." Eleonora looked at Josephine with a pout on her lips but the older woman wasn't having it and she refused to buy the look from the younger woman.

"You can say that but if you miss even one day then I will be mad at you and we don't want that now do we?" Josephine smirked.

She struck where it hurt knowing that with what she said, Eleonora will be true to her words if she did finally agree to rest.

"Yes I will rest, mother," Eleonora tried to get out of her clutches so she could escape but the woman wasn't moving on a bit.

Eleonora finally decided to use her weapon against her and Josephine finally gave up and decided to bend a bit.

"Fine, fine, I hear you," Josephine shook her head as she scolded herself for not being immune to Eleanora's doe eyes.

That was her thing!

"Now, please can we get up now? I need to go prepare for work. You know I don't like going late." Eleonora said while getting up and cleaning the spot they laid in of the snacks and other unnecessary junk.

"Why ask when you've already done so?" Josephine looked at the young woman while shaking her head in amusement.

"Just so it's official that I asked, that's all." Eleonora shrugged while Josephine just kept quiet as a smile tugged on her lips.

After the women finished cleaning up the mess, they parted ways with Eleonora going to her room, using a second route that she made so that she didn't coincidentally run into her parents.
