Allison's POV I never thought I'd live to see the day I'll catch my own husband fucking another lady…! The automatic doors of ‘SuperMart’ hissed shut behind me, cutting off the blast of chilly air conditioning. I shifted the heavy grocery bags in my arms and sighed. “You know, kiddo,” I said to the little guy struggling with a bag full of his favorite dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. “I never thought my life would come to this.” Theo, my five-year-old, looked up at me, his big serious eyes a perfect copy of his father’s. “What, Mommy? Buying nuggets?” I laughed genuinely. “No, baby. Something else. Something… darker.” He just blinked, not getting it. Of course he didn’t. He was perfect.. a perfect handsome little copy of Derek, right down to the stubborn set of his jaw. The future Alpha of the New York pack, everyone said.. my greatest achievement. My smile faded as I thought about his father.. my husband and my mate. The word felt like a joke now! When I married Derek Boyega, it was all grand passion and epic movie-style love. I genuinely believed our bond was this unbreakable magical thing. Love conquers all, right? Yeah, tell that to the iceberg that sank the Titanic..! After the wedding, he just… cooled down like an engine after a long drive but it never started up again. I figured, okay, we’re settling in. Then Theo came along, this amazing perfect little boy. I thought, This is it! This will bring us back together! But instead of a bridge, Theo became this tiny wonderful island that I lived on, and Derek just visited occasionally from the mainland of wherever his head was at. “Mommy, why are we just standing here?” Theo asked, his small voice pulling me out of my head. “The ice cream’s gonna melt.” “You’re right, my little alpha,” I said, ruffling his soft hair with my free hand. “Let’s blow this popsicle stand.” We loaded up my sensible SUV... the one Derek bought because it was ‘safe and practical,’ unlike my old fun convertible... and drove home. Our house was this huge modern thing on a ridiculously fancy street. It looked like a museum and it never really felt like a home. The second I pushed the front door open, I knew. Call it mate intuition or just the intuition of a woman who knows when her house has been violated. The air was wrong… It smelled… floral and not like my lilies. Then I saw it. A lacy black bra just tossed over the back of the white sofa like a flag of conquest and a pair of red panties on the floor near the staircase. My blood immediately went cold. And then I heard it from upstairs.. a low groan I knew all too well followed by a high dramatical moan that I definitely did not know. “Mommy?” Theo’s voice was small behind me. My mind went into emergency mode. Code Red! Mommy needs to handle this. “Theo, baby!” I said with my voice an octave too high. “I forgot the… the chocolate syrup! For the ice cream! Can you be a huge hero and run back to the car to see if it rolled under the seat?” His eyes got wide like he was going on a mission. “I’ll find it!” he declared and darted back out the front door, slamming it behind him. The coast was clear. Now it was just me, the traitorous underwear and the sounds of my husband enthusiastically cheating on me. I walked up the stairs like I was in a horror movie and each step creaked with a little drumroll for the shitshow awaiting me. The master bedroom door was ajar and so I pushed it open. And there he was. Derek.. my husband and my mate of five years.. bare-assed naked with muscles straining, ramming himself into some red haired woman on our bed! He was groaning and lost in it. She had her legs locked around his back, her head thrown back, moaning like a five-dollar whore in a low-budget movie. I just stood there, frozen as my brain refused to process it. “Derek?” The word came out as a strangled whisper. To my absolute astonishment, he heard me. His head turned and he didn’t jump. He didn’t even look shocked. He didn’t even stop. He just… looked at me. His eyes locked on mine so cold and dark and he gave a few more hard deliberate thrusts, staring right at me the whole time until he groaned and collapsed onto her, shooting his load and creampie-ing her. The wet, sucking sound as he pulled his dick out of her made my stomach lurch. The red hair... who was now also staring at me... smirked. The bitch actually smirked! That’s when I lost it and the dam broke! “What the HELL, Derek?” I screamed, tears already blurring my vision. “What is this? Who is that? In our bed! Are you insane?” They just… ignored me like I was a mildly annoying fly. They untangled themselves with a chilling casualness. Derek pulled on a black silk robe and the woman... who had the audacity to have a perfect body... wrapped herself in my white one.. my fucking robe! “How could you?” I sobbed, my anger and humiliation bubbling over. “I’m your mate! I’m your wife!” Derek finally looked at me, with his expression as cold as stone. “Not anymore, Allison.” The words stung sharply and I stopped crying, stunned into silence. “I’m rejecting you as my mate,” he said, his voice flat. “And I’ll be filing for divorce. It’s over. I've found someone better, Victoria here's my new mate.” “You… you can’t just…” I stammered, my world crumbling. “What about Theo? What about our family?!” The red hair spoke up and her voice was like poisoned honey. “He’s made his choice, darling. Be a good girl and don’t make a scene.” “You stay out of this, you… you mattress!” I yelled, pointing a shaking finger at her. “The scene is already made, Allison,” Derek said dismissively. “I want you out. Now. Pack a bag and leave or I will have you physically removed from my house.” My house.. not our house?! The finality in his voice broke the last of my resolve. Numb choking on tears I couldn’t cry anymore, I stumbled into our walk-in closet.. his walk-in closet. I grabbed a duffel bag and just started shoving things in blindly and angrily. Jeans.. shirts.. underwear. My hands were shaking. Theo.. I had to get Theo’s things. I had to get my baby and get out of this nightmare. I turned to leave the room and head to his bedroom, and there he was. My little boy was standing in the doorway of the master bedroom holding a bottle of chocolate syrup. He must have come back in. “Theo, baby,” I said with my voice cracking with relief. “Mommy’s sorry, we have to...” He walked right past me and he didn’t even look at me! His eyes were… glassy and unfocused like he was sleepwalking as he walked straight across the room, past his father and went directly to the red hair, Victoria, who was now sitting on the edge of the ruined bed. He clung to her leg, burying his face in the white robe and then he looked up at her with a sweet adoring smile... the same smile he gave me every morning. “Mommy,” he said. “I found the syrup..!”CHAPTER 105: Ghosts at the DoorAllison's POV“Jacob?” The name was a whisper, torn from a place I thought I’d sealed shut weeks ago. It sounded small and pathetic in the vast, tense space. He just stood there. A statue where my heart had once lived. My shock curdled, burning into something hotter and sharper. “What… how are you… why are you here?” The questions stumbled out, clumsy and raw. “Working with him?” I jerked my head toward Lucius, my voice rising. “And you couldn’t just come find me? You had to show up as… as some mysterious assassin?”Lucius shifted his weight, the sound gratingly loud. “Allison, this is not the time for personal...”“Don’t you dare!” I snapped, whirling on him. The pieces were starting to click together in a way that made me feel sick. “You knew. This whole time, you knew who he was. Is this another one of your little games? Another pawn for the great Elder to move around?”Lucius’s expression remained infuriatingly placid. “I utilize the resources ne
CHAPTER 104: Actions And ConsequencesAuthor's POVA roar with pure rage rolled through the room and Gerald’s massive form surged up from his chair with his face gull of fury. He didn't just pick up the desk in front of him.. he hauled it with muscles bunching with Alpha power and sent it flying across the room. It smashed into the far wall with a deafening crack of splintering wood, scattering papers and a very expensive computer monitor like confetti.“Kate!” he bellowed as he turned with his chest heaving, eyes blazing a vicious amber. “My sister is DEAD?”The man who had delivered the news stood ramrod straight, wisely keeping his expression neutral. “Yes, Alpha. The scene was… messy. The car, the wolf… and her.”Gerald paced like a caged animal, running a hand through his hair. “How? How is this possible? She was a witch! She saw possibilities! She could sniff out danger like a bloodhound!” He slammed a fist into the already ruined wall, making the framed pictures rattle. “Why
CHAPTER 103: The Face in the CrowdAllison's POVThe second voice.. one that didn’t belong to Lydia, finished echoing in the cold warehouse air. My skin prickled because I knew that tone.. that specific brand of condescending venom.“Victoria,” I said with the name tasting like ash in my mouth. “I know that’s you. Using her like a cheap microphone. Classy.”Lydia’s head... no, Victoria’s puppet... lolled toward me and ttwisted smile stretched Lydia’s lips, all wrong. “Allison. Still playing at being a hero with a new master, I see. And Lucius… an Elder reduced to a glorified dogcatcher.”Lucius didn’t flinch. Rather, his voice promised violence. “This is unwise, even for you, Victoria. You’ve just signed your own death warrant. You’re done. If The Glimmer didn't know of your forbidden ways, they do, now.”The laugh that came out of Lydia was a horrible layered sound. It was her voice and Victoria’s in a chorus from a nightmare. “Oh, you sweetsimple creatures. I’m always ten steps
CHAPTER 102: Two Voices, One ProblemAllison's POVThe car jerked to a stop so hard my muzzle almost slammed into the headrest in front of me. We were parked in front of my house. The porch light was on with a lonely little beacon of normalcy that felt a million miles away.Lucius got out and opened the door on my side, holding it like a chauffeur with his expression as blank as a new whiteboard. He hadn't said a word the entire drive, just navigated the streets with the calm precision of a guy who hadn't just witnessed a hit-and-run and stuffed a werewolf into his trunk.I just stared at him from the backseat as a big shaggy wolf wondering what his deal was.“Get out,” he said. His voice was flat and devoid of any emotion. Like he was commenting on the weather.. bad weather.. with wolves in trunks.I didn’t move. My wolf form was a pretty good argument-settler and I wasn't keen on giving it up.He sighed with a tiny almost imperceptible sound of impatience. “You need to get down fro
CHAPTER 50: The New Mami in TownVictoria's POVI was bored out of my skull. The guard behind me... Mark? Mike? I never bothered to learn his name... was huffing and puffing with his sweat dripping onto my back. It was pathetic, really. His rhythm was all off in a clumsy unenthusiastic thumping th
CHAPTER 58: Double VisionJacob’s POVShe suddenly broke away with her head snapping towards the window. “What was that?”I groaned. “What was what? The sound of my brilliant plan falling apart?”“No,” she said with her eyes narrowed. She was still totally on edge. “Outside. I thought I saw a fla
CHAPTER 52: A Knock at the DoorAllison's POVMy new car smelled like synthetic leather. I was idling just up the street from Derek’s place, my fingers tapping a random rhythm on the steering wheel. Not a nervous tap. More like the tap of someone waiting for the microwave to finish so they can eat
CHAPTER 59: A Hell of a PlaydateAllison's POVThe tires of Jacob’s car screamed like a banshee as we skidded to a halt in front of Derek’s house. The driveway looked like it had been pressure-washed five minutes ago.. bastard. My heart wasn’t just pounding.. it was trying to break out of my ribs a
