The next day we both got up early, almost at five o'clock in the morning, to avoid the cameras in the room.

We should have acted like a romantic couple who had spent a nice evening.

We had the same clothes as yesterday. Today we had to buy new ones. We would call one of the heads of one of the families to see what had happened yesterday or if there was a new meeting. For anything could happen.

In the few days, I was with Cassandra and her family. My hair had grown long enough, and I looked like an old man. I looked in a mirror in the room and saw the camera. It was in the mirror. I tried to pretend that there wasn't one, that I hadn't seen anything.

I came out of the bathroom as if nothing had happened and Cassandra hugged me from behind, maybe she also knew about the camera and was trying to pretend we were a couple. I had to play along and did the same, I hugged her from the front and said a word in a low tone.

"Let's go, but you have to stay close to me".

"don't worry, I also saw the cameras. In the bathroom they are there too" I whispered in her ear.

She shook my hand and we both left that room. A little worried. I had heard that in motels there were cameras, but seeing it in front of us was uncomfortable and since we didn't do anything else, maybe we had attracted too much attention from the owners.

When we went downstairs, I noticed that the manager of the place was looking at us. He was a guy with blue hair and tattoos on his neck and hand. casandra and I approached him to hide it.

I gave him the money, and he spoke to us.

"Did you run away from home?"

"Uh... yeah, well, we have to get back home."

Lucky for us, he was a beta, so he didn't have that mental capacity to tell us something.

"mmmm, I see. It's only, 75 dollars."

I pulled out a $100 bill

and handed it to him, but my hands were shaking. He wasn't very well, his look gave me some nerves. I saw blood on the wall and some knives. It was unusual, I thought he was going to do something to us. Even though he had a gun, I wasn't sure I would pull it out.

He grabbed the bill and gave me $25.

In that small movement, I noticed he had a shotgun next to him, so it was pretty dangerous. I received the money, but a strange feeling came over me.

Cassandra hugged me pretty tightly in the back and tried to guide me.

"My life, we will be late, hurry up".

I felt a little calmer as I listened to her to calm me down.

It was obvious that the person in front of me was a criminal, and even though he was a beta, he had done a lot of bad things. We were lucky he didn't do anything to us.

[...]

We got out of there and saw that the streets were lonely, because of yesterday's noise, I wasn't surprised that today that place was like that.

The only problem is that they didn't rob us before we went out to the avenue. For now, our goal was to get to the center of the city. Buy a cell phone and communicate with the second main family, but Cassandra talked to me again about the wedding.

"Let's go to a notary"

I stood still and answered her with sincerity.

"First we must make contact with the second family in town and after what they tell us we will make a decision."

She didn't like what I said, however, she didn't say anything to me. She just held my hand.

I tried to calm her down a bit and not have a senseless fight. We had different opinions, but the goal. A fight was a loss.

Apparently it was a robbery in the early hours. There were two people in a restaurant. Casandra and I, seeing what was happening, decided to walk faster and avoid running into the robbers.

Again we had to run, but I was very worried about her. She was not used to this kind of life. Where her life was at risk every five minutes.

[...]

We arrived at the center hours later, but the shoes that Casandra was wearing, could not resist so much movement and were damaged. We both went to the ATM and took out enough money to stop wearing the same clothes, to go out of town and buy disguises. We could not stay like this any longer, running anywhere. We would make a decision based on what we decided today.

First we bought a cell phone and I called one of the alphas from the richest third family in town.

"Good afternoon."

"Ah... It's you. The boy who hangs out with the deceased's daughter."

I didn't want to tell Casandra the news, I remained silent and kept talking as if nothing had happened.

"Are you confirmed?"

"More or less, but they found a body with his characteristics; however, it's all burned, so it will take time to identify him. It's quite a process."

"Will there be a meeting?" I said so Casandra wouldn't get suspicious, but I heard two gunshots coming from somewhere.

I looked around and saw three guys in suits, I couldn't determine if they were wolves or vampires, but one of them had a gun. When I tried to go for Casandra, I felt something hot in my abdomen. I let go of my cell phone. I had been shot, and my body began to make involuntary movements.

Casandra tried to help me, in spite of everything. She felt very scared and that there was nothing more to do. The three subjects headed towards us, but I heard a voice.

"Damn vampires!"

Someone pulled out his gun and shot those guys. The little I knew about that area, that it was wolves, and it was very rare to see vampires around here. Maybe that made someone shoot those men. However, I was in agony and didn't really care what happened to them.

The girl tried to reassure me and gave me a kiss on my forehead. At that moment, I thought I had been stupid not to follow her father's orders. Cassandra would be left alone and possibly under the orders of her uncles.

I tried to apologize to her, but I couldn't even speak anymore, I lost all my strength.
