Scarlett's pov

"Hello, pretty lady," Michael cast the signature smirk that used to make my heart flutter.

"You?!" I was appalled to see him but didn't want to make a scene in front of everyone. I couldn't believe that my own parents had tricked me into going on a blind date with that moron. I better plot a way to escape.

"I am so glad that you agreed to meet me, Scarlett," he said, sitting down beside me at the table and grabbing my hand.

To my relief, the sparks had significantly reduced. It was as good as gone for good. Perhaps my rejection did have an impact on our bond even if he didn't accept it.

I yanked my hand away. "I don't like to be touched. Besides, I'm here only because I was tricked into coming. If I knew that you were meeting me, I wouldn't have come."
