登入Diane opened her eyes, blinking lazily as the early morning sun crept into her bedroom through the blinds. She yawned, stretching both arms over her head as she lengthened her body. She reached for her phone on the nightstand and checked the time to see it was just a few minutes past seven. There was already a text from Ryan, and she tapped on it, clicking the link he had sent her. It led her to the morning article with the bold headline, 'DEVERAUX HEIRESS DELIVERS AN AWESOME SPEECH DESPITE NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE.'She laughed a bit, seeing it. Her speech last night did go well. After the accident, Lea and Nathan had helped calm her down, and she had stepped up and given the speech even without the brief that had mysteriously disappeared. The crowd had applauded her, especially after she had spoken on the Blue Haven project. And by the time the speeches were over and the partying had started, her partners for the Blue Haven project had come to assure her that the deal was practical
Diane's body trembled with fright, and her heart pounded in her ears, almost deafening her. From nowhere, she heard screeching cars jamming in the traffic and the horns going off, blasting in her ears. The harsh light from the vehicles shone on her face, and she shut her eyes, wanting to make it go away. She heard voices screaming and asking if she was okay, and a tear travelled down her cheek as she pressed her lips together. Her eyes were still tightly shut, and her hands had travelled up to cover her ears as the loud crash happened. Diane?" Michael called out to her, cutting through the chaos."Diane," He shook her softly. "Snap out of it, you are okay. I'm here."Diane's body jerked up in shock, and her eyes flew open. The first thing she saw was Michael. His hand was cradling the back of her head, and his arm was wrapped protectively around her.She blinked rapidly and looked around. She saw that she was in a dimly lit corner with Michael, while the broken LED fixture lay on the
"And set. You're all good to go. You look so beautiful, Diane. You're going to kill everyone with your glamour this night." Lea clapped, grinning as she inspected Diane's dress. They were in Diane's room, with Diane seated in front of the dresser while Lea stood behind her, helping her get ready for the night. Diane studied her reflection, "You don't think it looks so... I don't know, too dressy to wear while giving my speech tonight?" "When has being too dressy ever been a crime?" Lea asked, shrugging. "You look fine, trust me. And smile!" She added, her phone's flashlight going off multiple times as she circled Diane, taking photos of her dress. "For the gram, babes."Diane nodded, "Well, if you say so. What-"Lea's phone suddenly rang, and she put a finger up at Diane, bringing her phone to her ear, "Yes, Daddy, I told you I was done dressing up." Then she pointed to her phone and mouthed to Diane that she'd meet her later. Then she hurried out. Diane chuckled, turning back at
Diane dropped into the bed in her room the moment Ryan left after keeping her luggage. She stretched out her hands on the soft bedding. She had changed from the villa to another place called Montclair. Montclair was like a large compound or private estate, segregated from the rest of the villa and consisting of just four blocks. Diane had learnt that Montclair was off limits and reserved exclusively for the hosts. And since Deveraux was co-hosting, it meant she was allowed to stay there as well. Which was good because she did actually need the peace and quiet. And at least now, she was going to be away from Michael and avoid having to see him for as long as possible. Her phone buzzed, and Nathan's text popped up on her screen. Nathan: Are you all settled down now, baby?"Diane:Yeah, I just got in. Nathan: Glad to hear that. Another meeting just came up. Something unexpected happened. But I'll be sure to see you tonight, and I'll tell you all about it. I'm sorry."Diane:Haha.
Diane watched his face, searching for any sign of whether he was being serious. But then again, Michael wasn't one to bluff. So he was, actually serious. But the reason why he was giving it to her did leave her skeptical "You had your little research done on me and discovered that I was going to acquire Crown and Bell's." Diane started. "Then you went ahead and bought it just to be petty. You proceeded to rub it in my face. And now you want me to have it?" Michael was silent for a while. He knew she was right, and he almost didn't have anything to counter what she had just said. He tapped his fingers on the expensive leather of his car's backseat and pressed his lips together. " That was wrong of me. And I genuinely want you to have it. It's my first apology gift to you."Dianes eyes travelled down to the documents again as he dropped it on the space between them. "Apology gift?" "Yes," He replied. "For what exactly?" She asked. Was it from buying Crown and Bell's? For calling h
Michael stared at Diane, watching the way her pretty lips pouted in a little frown and the way the gentle breeze blew strands of hair to her face. For a brief moment, he had the urge to reach out, cup her tiny face in his hands and push the strands away. He curled his hands in his pockets, rubbing his thumb against his palm as memories rushed in. It made him reminisce about the way her face used to feel in his palm, soft and warm and how previously he used to hold her then. Now she looked at him like he was the last person she wanted to be standing in front of her at the moment. But she was cute. Cute to do something like that to him. How exactly had she thought she could get him off the list? He didn't even fancy the Fest to begin with, so the only reason he was even here was because of her. Even though she didn't want to see him. He watched as her eyes ran him a look and she looked away, not bothering to answer him. Almost like he didn't deserve an answer for the
Diane's head throbbed. Badly. The pain felt like there was a drill boring holes into different parts of her head impatiently and making her want to cut her head off. She blinked a bit, scrunching up her face and groaning, a poor attempt to make the pain go away. She had no idea why she was feeling
There was a brief moment of silence and then Tiffany chuckled from behind while Michael sighed. "Is this your way of trying to get me back?" Michael asked indifferently, his expression remaining unfazed. "I'm telling the truth." "Like when you cheated?" Michael asked. I wasn't cheating on you
Diane spunned around, cleaning off her tears with her cloth fabric, to see Nathan surprisingly. Nathan was Michael's best friend whom she had only seen on countable occasions which were the few times in college, on their wedding day and the first time she had started working in Michael's company.
Just as Diane managed to pull herself together and walk into the shoot room, Tiffany was in Michael’s arms now. An angry Lauren stomped off, heels clicking noisily and with her nose in the air, she banged the door loudly behind her while her assistant rushed after her, apologizing to everyone. As h
