It was a new week, and Alex was completely lost in thoughts even though he seemed engrossed in a file in his office. He was an impatient man but he was trying so hard not to stand up, drive his car, and zoomed toward the restaurant Elena works in. He missed her so much and decided to see her only to find out he was a father.
It's something he couldn't even tell his parents until he got closer to them. He wants her back, so badly but he needed to give her time, more space since he knew his appearance overwhelmed her.He doesn't normally think like this, but for Elena he does. It was due to the love he has for her, the love that makes him different from her.He wished he realized it sooner. The simple difference in the picture. He was so blinded by rage that he couldn't even see clearly or think straight. His door opened, revealing his secretary. She smiled as she walked toward him. "Mr. Black."Alex looked at his wristwatch and back at her with a serious expression. "Why are you here?"Her mouth twitched, due to his glare at her. He never actually noticed her, not once. No matter how beautiful she dressed, or how sexy she looked. "Your sister is here, sir."Alex nodded. "Let her in."She nodded and left. In no time, Andrea walked in with a broad smile on her face. "Hi, brother." She chuckled and walked past the couches toward his desk. "I'm sorry I didn't call you to ask how it went..." She paused, dragging a chair and sitting down. "I was so busy." She explained.Alex just nodded without care, leaning against his swivel chair. "Yeah.""So how did it go? I know she won't accept you that easily but at least you took a step."Alex looked at her. "Did you know she was pregnant?" He asked because his sister and Elena were close back then.Andrea shook her head, her brows furrowed in confusion. "No she didn't. Although I felt she was hiding something, since you guys separated, we became distant even when I wanted to get close."He sighed."Why?" Andrea asked."I have two kids.""What?" Andrea blurted out."Alexander and Amy." He made it known. Her mouth fell open at the information. "Oh my God. A boy and a girl. What are you going to do?" She asked worriedly."I'm being calm." He told her."And what do you mean by that?""I'm giving her space. She's gonna talk to the kids so I'm giving her time."Andrea nodded in understanding. "Okay, just be careful, okay? She's not like other girls. You won't find it easy."Alex nodded. "Yeah. I know I won't.""I could help you talk to her if you want...""I don't need your help. We'll get close once again, and I'll make sure of that. She won't be able to resist me.""I hope you didn't show her this side of you." Andrea wished."She knows me, and she loves me regardless. It'll be hard, I know but I'll try. I'll have her back and be in my kids' lives as a father who's married to their mom." He promised, assuring himself.Andrea nodded. "Okay. I'm sure you can do it. Next time, don't let your anger get the best of you."He glared at her. "Better keep quiet."She looked away. "So, uh, are you gonna tell mom and dad...and Andrew?""I'll tell them when I have her so better keep your mouth shut."She pouted. "But what about Andrew?""As I said, keep your mouth shut, Andrea."Andrea scoffed. "Whatever." She stood up. "I should leave you then." She said with a funny face and walked out.He looked away like someone tasked with the greatest impossible thing. He hasn't even seen his daughter yet.He really needs to be smart, and show her he can be a patient man. He's gonna have to leave for a while.*********"I'm not sure I like where things are going. He found out."The man nodded. "Unfortunately, but it doesn't matter. It's not as if he knows anything important yet.""It matters to me. Do you know what I can achieve if they're apart?""Everyone wants to achieve something, Fiona. We all want to achieve something, and we definitely will.""I don't care if they die together, as long as I get what I want." Another lady said."I really don't want that." Fiona made it known."Well, you couldn't get him, right? You failed."Fiona blinked and looked away. She remembered how she tried so hard to get close when he was vulnerable but his stupid sister was always there.Always watching him like a hawk, like she's got nothing better to do."So what next?" Someone asked. "Are we just gonna let them be together now?""He's on us, so if we do something, he'll know. I can't allow her finding about her life. I want that man I took as a friend to suffer all his life.""And the wealth he has? What if he dies?" The lady asked."He won't. He's a determined man.""What about Alex and Elena?" Fiona asked."It'll be difficult for them to come back together.""They have children," Fiona stated."I said it'll be difficult, but it's inevitable.""Are we just supposed to relax now?""We are supposed to watch and tread carefully. I do not want my plans going sideways."They all nodded.Elena did her rounds of cooking for the day, and all through, she has been thinking about Alex. It's been a week since they last saw him, and it made her wonder if he has given up.She pulled off her apron and hair net to give the next chef space to start her rounds.A waitress came toward her. "Miss Millers."Elena looked at her with raised eyebrows. "What's it?""We have a customer that seemed to be looking for you. He said he's only gonna eat your food."Elena furrowed her brows in confusion and left the kitchen towards the room where customers are attended to.Alex waved at her making her sigh."You know him? He's handsome." The waitress remarked.Elena gave her a frown before looking back at Alex. She walked towards the table and sat down on the chair. "I thought I wasn't gonna be seeing you."Alex chuckled. "Why? Were you praying for it?"Elena decided to ignore the question. "So why are you here?""The last time I came, I came for you, and I wanted to say something to you. I di
"Feed me more, mommy." Amy bounced on Elena's lap as she ate French fries."Patient, baby, you have ketchup on your face," Elena said, stopping her from moving, before cleaning the ketchup off her mouth. "Better.""Thanks, mommy."Alex's mouth curved up in a small smile before looking at Xander who ate on his own. His little man. "So, little man, what do you want to be when you grow up?"Xander grinned. "Use people to make money and become rich."Alex's brow stretched in amusement, while Elena just sighed."Use people, ah? You don't like people?" He decided to ask wanting to know what his reply will be.Xander frowned like he was disgusted by something. "Yes. I'll scare them and get rich."Alex smirked. "A good one."Xander widened his eyes at him. "Really? You don't think it's scary? Mommy always says that."Alex looked at her. "Of course. She says that a lot to your daddy, and he'll be very proud of you." He said, running his hand through his hair.Amy looked at him. "You know my da
Elena arrived at the restaurant where she was supposed to meet an important someone. Having Alex back in her life has been honestly relaxing for the past two weeks. How he was with the children, his love for them, reminded her of a lot.Marrying an arrogant and conceited man was never on her tab or her ideal man, but the love he could have, the love he could give, the way he could make you feel different and special, he did make her feel that way until she fell in love without realizing it.But how can she forget everything she went through? When did he realize the truth, why didn't he come for her earlier? What has he been doing these four years after their divorce? There were thoughts in her mind that made her feel pain in her heart. He could have gotten himself with different women but she shouldn't be affected, she's no longer married to him.She smiled at the person already there waiting for her and waving at her. It felt awkward though, especially remembering how she decided to
Alex knocked on the door, waiting patiently for an answer. He waited a few moments before deciding to knock again but the door suddenly opened. "Daddy!"Alex looked down to see it was his daughter and he immediately lifted her up in his arms, giving her a smile. "Hey, princess. How are you?" He asked, entering in, and locking the door."I'm fine. We didn't see you. Mommy said you were busy" She pouted.Alex nodded. "Mommy is right." He answered, looking around for her. "And where's mom...""Daddy!" Alex averted his gaze towards his son bounding off the stairs with a big airplane toy in his hand. "Oh God, Xander!" He looked toward the kitchen hearing Elena's voice and she came out. "I told you, no running on the stairs." She scolded."I just wanted to see my daddy, and show him my new toy."Elena looked at Alex and back at his son. "Next time, no running on the stairs."Xander nodded. "Yes, mommy."Elena sighed as he ran toward his dad and hugged his legs.Alex smiled and lifted him w
Elena woke up at the sound of her alarm and stretched feeling so relaxed and peaceful. She clicked the off button of the clock and let out a breath of relief. She felt she never had a good sleep like this for a long while. She moved her head to her right and blinked remembering she shared a bed with her ex-husband. She sighed, sat up on the bed, and gave the back of her neck a massage before yawning. She looked at the clock and her brows furrowed. She rubbed both her eyes wondering if she was seeing clearly but she still found the same thing. It was 7:23 am. "Shit." She cursed under her breath and immediately left the room. She was late for everything. Her kids are supposed to be in school before eight and she was supposed to be at work also. She went to their rooms and frowned as they were not inside. She walked down the stairs wondering where they are, beginning to feel the need to panic. As she was about to call their names..."Ella..."She looked toward the dining and gaped at see
Elena let out a shaky breath as Alex arrived at the compound of his father's home. She couldn't believe how nervous she felt or why she felt nervous at all when she never did anything wrong. When Alex told her about his parents wanting to meet her and their grandkids, she knew she couldn't say no. Just looking at the mansion brought out so many memories, and made her remember how lovely Alex's parents are and how terrible they could be, especially his father after knowing what they think she did.She jumped as she felt a hand on her lap, and she looked at him."Are you alright?"Elena nodded. "Yeah."He shook his head, looking away, and opened the car door. "Don't know if I miss you always blanking into space."She furrowed her brows. "What?"He gave her a smile before leaving and slamming the door shut. She sighed and unfastened her seatbelt. He opened the door for her and she came out. He proceeded to open the door for his kids who looked excited in seeing their grandparents. They'v
"Hey.""Hey.""It's been long and I know my call came out of nowhere."Elena nodded. "Indeed it did. Wasn't expecting it.""I've been feeling guilty, Elena. That's why I couldn't call."Elena sighed. "I understand the part of you unable to help me, Emily, it's the fact that you didn't call. It's like you just vanished out of my life."Emily nodded. "I know. It's just...whenever I ask for your help, you're always there for me but when you came to me, all I could do was turn you down, I just...I felt devastated. Like I couldn't show myself to you."Elena shook her head at her friend's way of thinking.Emily Wyatt was her best friend from school. They went to the same college, studied different courses, and became friends with Evan, and even though they weren't all that rich, just being together as friends made them happy.Emily wasn't able to help her due to financial circumstances and she understood. Her parents wouldn't be able to help her, especially since she was a pregnant woman.N
Alex stared at the woman giving him a smile in front of her. He actually felt he was gawking due to how he couldn't keep her eyes off her if not for how blank his face was.Evelyn was beginning to feel uncomfortable at how he just stared without words but then she stared too due to how handsome he looked. A man as rich as this could be the one to take her out of the trench or not.Weird though, since she was told to hide under a hoodie. He's probably just in need of her service or maybe he's falling in love since a lot of her clients always tell her how beautiful she is, that someone like her isn't cut out for becoming a prostitute, blah blah blah. It's probably the words the man is gonna say next. His telephone ringing averted his gaze. He picked it up and put it in his ear. "Alexander Black, speaking.""Mr. Black, I've decided to make the deal with you. Sixty percent is fine by me."Alex arched his brow. "Wow, you sound desperate.""Please, Mr. Black.""What if I change it to sevent
