Elena was stiffened to the spot where she stood, her hand on her door, and her eyes locked on Alex. The confusion in her knew no bounds. It felt like the shock paralyzed her.
A man who pushed her out of his house was suddenly in front of her once again. Why? Why is he here now?Although he's still as handsome as usual. His perfectly chiseled face, perfectly styled black hair, his blue eyes, and the way he dresses, it didn't change. Black pantsuits, black coat, black everything. Six feet three inches tall while she's just five feet, seven inches. There wasn't any change in him she could notice.Alex didn't say anything to her. He just stared, more like accessed her, how different she looked, how more beautiful she became.Elena let out a shaky breath and blinked away after deciding to come back to her senses. "What are you doing here?""Aren't you gonna invite me in?" He asked seriously.Elena shook her head. "No, I won't, cause you're not welcomed."Alex nodded. "Fair, but what I've come to tell you isn't something we should be talking about outside.""I don't even what to talk to..." She paused as she remembered the father of her children is standing in front of her.She turned towards the stairs and back at him, feeling restless. "What..." She sighed as he gave her a raised eyebrow, then she opened the door widely. "Come in."He walked inside, looked around the room, and then turned to look at her. "You're doing well for yourself. How's work?"Elena held her sweaty palms together cause if he could sense emotions, he could have seen how uneasy she was."Just...just please say what you have come to say. Why are you here?"She was worried since she was not ready yet. What if any of her kids come down the stairs? She wasn't ready."I came here to talk.""About?" She questioned."About ever...""Mommy?"Elena immediately looked toward the stairs and saw Xander coming down from them, rubbing his sleepy eyes as he did so.Alex's eyes were glued on the kid. He looked atElena who gave him a side glance before going to meet the kid and carrying him in her arms."What's wrong, baby? Why are you awake?" Elena asked him.He blinked wondering what was happening, his eyes glued on the both of them."I had a nightmare, mommy." Xander made it known, putting his head on his mom's shoulder.Elena patted his back. "It's okay, son. I'll put you back to bed."But as she was about to head to the stairs, Xander looked over her shoulder at the man just standing and looking at him. "Who are you?"It made Elena stop in her tracks. It was something her son always does whenever he sees a man in the house. He always acts overprotective. He hates it when he sees a man close to his mom. He was always suspicious.Elena turned to look at Alex whose eyes were on them, then she lowered her gaze, while Xander turned his head to look at the man. He was big and tall."I'm...your mother's friend." Alex decided to answer."And uh, who might you be, little man?" He asked the kid.Xander wiggled himself from his mother's hold making her drop him. He walked up to Alex and brought his hand out. "I'm Xander, nice to meet you."Alex's face formed a smile, amusement evident on his face. He bent a little and took his small hand. "Is that your full name?"Xander shook his head and removed his hand from his hold. "Alexander. And you? What's yours?"Elena looked away as Alex's gaze dropped to hers. He looked back at the kid. "It seems we're namesakes. I'm Alexander too."Xander gaped. "Really?"Alex nodded. "How old are you?"Elena was getting the urge to stop his questions, but she just couldn't. He should know."Four," Xander answered causing Alex to look back at Elena."If you wanna marry my mommy, you can't."Xander suddenly spoke out making Elena to gasp and causing Alex to look at him."What?" Alex blurted out."No one is allowed to marry my mommy except my dad. It's just a little fight and soon he'll come back and I don't want him disappointed.""So you're keeping your mom for your dad?" Alex asked in amusement.Xander nodded. "Yes. He'll definitely come back, and might get mad if he sees mommy with someone else."Elena just sighed.Alex chuckled and nodded. "Sure.""Uh..." Elena trailed causing them to look at her."Come here, Xander."Xander instantly went to her."Why don't you go back to bed? Mommy needs to talk to her visitor?"Xander nodded. "Okay." Then he looked at Alex."Good night, Xander."Alex chuckled at him. "It's Alex, and Good night " He made it known.Xander ran up the stairs to his room.Elena swallowed and looked at him, her hands crossed on her stomach. "It's late, you should leave."Alex looked at her. "He's mine, right?"Elena nodded. "I'm pretty sure it's obvious."Alex equally nodded. "It definitely is. You could have told me."Elena rose a brow. "Oh. I thought you knew everything.""I don't know everything, okay? I only wanted to find you so I search for addresses, not your whole life."Elena nodded. "Now that you've found me, what do you have to say?"Alex took steps toward her, making her step back dropping her hands beside her. "Don't come any closer." She warned him.He stopped in his tracks in confusion. "Why? You don't miss me? You never once thought of me?"Then he chuckled. "Actually I doubt that, after all, you name our son after me."Elena blinked and looked away, turning her hands into fists to stop them from trembling further. His arrogant attitude can be so irksome."You know I'm gonna have to be present in my son's life, right? You can't stop me."Elena looked back at him and nodded. "I know."She blinked, dropping her gaze, and deciding to just tell him all of it. "And...and it's not just him."He rose a brow. "What do you mean?"She gulped and looked at him. "You...you have a daughter."He blanched, looked towards the stairs, and back at her in surprise. "What? I...I have a daughter?"Elena nodded seeing how pleased and delighted he looks. "Her name is Amy. They're twins."He sighed as everything was all new to him. It wasn't what he expected. It was unbelievable. He didn't know he left her pregnant and she didn't tell him."You could have told me you were pregnant."Elena scoffed. "Did you look at yourself in the mirror then? Besides, I tried telling you but the only thing in your mind was to get me out of your house."He ran his hands through his hair knowing he fucked up bad. He came here for a reason, only to find out more reasons to keep beating himself up."You should leave, Alex."Alex nodded. "And my kids? I wanna...""I know. I'll try telling them."He nodded again. "Please do."Elena just nodded and looked away.He walked closer to her, but before she could step back, he grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, earning a gasp from her. "What are you doing?" She asked, their face so close to each other."I just wanna do this." He said before planting a kiss on her forehead causing Elena to sigh at the feeling. "And to let you know that you're more beautiful than I remembered." He made known before letting go.Elena lowered her gaze, not wanting to meet his gaze on hers."I'll see you soon." He told her and left the house.Elena squatted, her arms crossed on her legs as she felt weak thanks to him. She was breathing heavily due to how nervous she felt at his sudden appearance.Just like that, her ex-husband is back in her life.It was a new week, and Alex was completely lost in thoughts even though he seemed engrossed in a file in his office. He was an impatient man but he was trying so hard not to stand up, drive his car, and zoomed toward the restaurant Elena works in. He missed her so much and decided to see her only to find out he was a father. It's something he couldn't even tell his parents until he got closer to them. He wants her back, so badly but he needed to give her time, more space since he knew his appearance overwhelmed her.He doesn't normally think like this, but for Elena he does. It was due to the love he has for her, the love that makes him different from her.He wished he realized it sooner. The simple difference in the picture. He was so blinded by rage that he couldn't even see clearly or think straight. His door opened, revealing his secretary. She smiled as she walked toward him. "Mr. Black."Alex looked at his wristwatch and back at her with a serious expression. "Why are you here?"
Elena did her rounds of cooking for the day, and all through, she has been thinking about Alex. It's been a week since they last saw him, and it made her wonder if he has given up.She pulled off her apron and hair net to give the next chef space to start her rounds.A waitress came toward her. "Miss Millers."Elena looked at her with raised eyebrows. "What's it?""We have a customer that seemed to be looking for you. He said he's only gonna eat your food."Elena furrowed her brows in confusion and left the kitchen towards the room where customers are attended to.Alex waved at her making her sigh."You know him? He's handsome." The waitress remarked.Elena gave her a frown before looking back at Alex. She walked towards the table and sat down on the chair. "I thought I wasn't gonna be seeing you."Alex chuckled. "Why? Were you praying for it?"Elena decided to ignore the question. "So why are you here?""The last time I came, I came for you, and I wanted to say something to you. I di
"Feed me more, mommy." Amy bounced on Elena's lap as she ate French fries."Patient, baby, you have ketchup on your face," Elena said, stopping her from moving, before cleaning the ketchup off her mouth. "Better.""Thanks, mommy."Alex's mouth curved up in a small smile before looking at Xander who ate on his own. His little man. "So, little man, what do you want to be when you grow up?"Xander grinned. "Use people to make money and become rich."Alex's brow stretched in amusement, while Elena just sighed."Use people, ah? You don't like people?" He decided to ask wanting to know what his reply will be.Xander frowned like he was disgusted by something. "Yes. I'll scare them and get rich."Alex smirked. "A good one."Xander widened his eyes at him. "Really? You don't think it's scary? Mommy always says that."Alex looked at her. "Of course. She says that a lot to your daddy, and he'll be very proud of you." He said, running his hand through his hair.Amy looked at him. "You know my da
Elena arrived at the restaurant where she was supposed to meet an important someone. Having Alex back in her life has been honestly relaxing for the past two weeks. How he was with the children, his love for them, reminded her of a lot.Marrying an arrogant and conceited man was never on her tab or her ideal man, but the love he could have, the love he could give, the way he could make you feel different and special, he did make her feel that way until she fell in love without realizing it.But how can she forget everything she went through? When did he realize the truth, why didn't he come for her earlier? What has he been doing these four years after their divorce? There were thoughts in her mind that made her feel pain in her heart. He could have gotten himself with different women but she shouldn't be affected, she's no longer married to him.She smiled at the person already there waiting for her and waving at her. It felt awkward though, especially remembering how she decided to
Alex knocked on the door, waiting patiently for an answer. He waited a few moments before deciding to knock again but the door suddenly opened. "Daddy!"Alex looked down to see it was his daughter and he immediately lifted her up in his arms, giving her a smile. "Hey, princess. How are you?" He asked, entering in, and locking the door."I'm fine. We didn't see you. Mommy said you were busy" She pouted.Alex nodded. "Mommy is right." He answered, looking around for her. "And where's mom...""Daddy!" Alex averted his gaze towards his son bounding off the stairs with a big airplane toy in his hand. "Oh God, Xander!" He looked toward the kitchen hearing Elena's voice and she came out. "I told you, no running on the stairs." She scolded."I just wanted to see my daddy, and show him my new toy."Elena looked at Alex and back at his son. "Next time, no running on the stairs."Xander nodded. "Yes, mommy."Elena sighed as he ran toward his dad and hugged his legs.Alex smiled and lifted him w
Elena woke up at the sound of her alarm and stretched feeling so relaxed and peaceful. She clicked the off button of the clock and let out a breath of relief. She felt she never had a good sleep like this for a long while. She moved her head to her right and blinked remembering she shared a bed with her ex-husband. She sighed, sat up on the bed, and gave the back of her neck a massage before yawning. She looked at the clock and her brows furrowed. She rubbed both her eyes wondering if she was seeing clearly but she still found the same thing. It was 7:23 am. "Shit." She cursed under her breath and immediately left the room. She was late for everything. Her kids are supposed to be in school before eight and she was supposed to be at work also. She went to their rooms and frowned as they were not inside. She walked down the stairs wondering where they are, beginning to feel the need to panic. As she was about to call their names..."Ella..."She looked toward the dining and gaped at see
Elena let out a shaky breath as Alex arrived at the compound of his father's home. She couldn't believe how nervous she felt or why she felt nervous at all when she never did anything wrong. When Alex told her about his parents wanting to meet her and their grandkids, she knew she couldn't say no. Just looking at the mansion brought out so many memories, and made her remember how lovely Alex's parents are and how terrible they could be, especially his father after knowing what they think she did.She jumped as she felt a hand on her lap, and she looked at him."Are you alright?"Elena nodded. "Yeah."He shook his head, looking away, and opened the car door. "Don't know if I miss you always blanking into space."She furrowed her brows. "What?"He gave her a smile before leaving and slamming the door shut. She sighed and unfastened her seatbelt. He opened the door for her and she came out. He proceeded to open the door for his kids who looked excited in seeing their grandparents. They'v
"Hey.""Hey.""It's been long and I know my call came out of nowhere."Elena nodded. "Indeed it did. Wasn't expecting it.""I've been feeling guilty, Elena. That's why I couldn't call."Elena sighed. "I understand the part of you unable to help me, Emily, it's the fact that you didn't call. It's like you just vanished out of my life."Emily nodded. "I know. It's just...whenever I ask for your help, you're always there for me but when you came to me, all I could do was turn you down, I just...I felt devastated. Like I couldn't show myself to you."Elena shook her head at her friend's way of thinking.Emily Wyatt was her best friend from school. They went to the same college, studied different courses, and became friends with Evan, and even though they weren't all that rich, just being together as friends made them happy.Emily wasn't able to help her due to financial circumstances and she understood. Her parents wouldn't be able to help her, especially since she was a pregnant woman.N
