Chapter 5: Ryker

last update Data de publicação: 2026-04-09 17:42:56

Fuck, she smelt so good.

“You’ve outdone yourself, Rye!” Clarissa shouts over the music. We grind in sync with other couples on the dancefloor.

I control her hips, bucking against her ass with my hardened dick. But she’s not the one I want to sink my erection into.

Olivia.

It doesn’t make sense. My brain hasn’t had space for any thoughts except partying, pussy, and Talon for years. Suddenly, some human waltz into Hunter’s life and I'm getting a hard on every three minutes thinking about her.

I grab Clarissa by her neck and yank her into me. She bares her throat for me to nip and lick while I squeeze one of her huge boobs.

It's not enough. I can still scent Cinnamon and Strawberry.

But Clarissa is clearly dripping for me, I can smell it. Usually, it's enough to have me shoving my dick in her mouth, but today I feel so disconnected.

Finally, she whispers, “Don’t you want to take me somewhere private?”

“Oh fuck yes,” maybe when we’re fucking I'll get my senses back.

She grins like she won the lottery, but right as she’s about to start pulling me past the dancing bodies and toward my bedroom, she stumbles to a halt.

I sigh, knowing exactly who she’s looking at.

“Axel!” I greet, trying to sound perky for my Alpha, and not fucking pissed that he’s about to cock block me.

Sure enough, he tilts his head at Clarissa, and she scurries out of my grasp, disappearing into the strobe lights and drunken wolves.

Once she’s out of sight, Axel huffs, “I told you to reduce the number of parties you throw here."

I rub my temples. This shit again, “I haven’t had a party here in forever, man, and this is my annual Wreckers party. It's legendary. The people will riot if they don’t get it.”

“No, the only one who will riot is you, ” Axel snaps, “Have you even thought about Talon-”

“I think about Talon all the fucking time.” I growl.

If it was another Alpha, they would have punished me the second I stepped out of line, but Axel is basically our brother, and instead of getting his Alpha-ego twisted, he steps closer, a foot taller than me, “If you were thinking about him you wouldn’t fill a house he also lives in with fucking Alcohol, Ryker. He - FUCK OFF!”

The people who were listening in on our convo back off as quickly as it takes for me to get mad.

I snarl, “Stop treating Talon like a child. He’s an adult. He can only get help if he wants our help. Besides, he went home.” So much for introducing him to Olivia.

Whatever, it’s not like she’ll show up.

Axel’s massive body tenses, “No he fucking didn’t. He’s supposed to be in his room right now.”

“What? He told me his parents asked him to come home. It’s the reason I gave him the keys to his jeep an hour ago.”

A vein throbs at the base of Axel’s neck, and it tells me I’m worse than dead, “Talon’s parents are out of the country. I told you that shit on Monday you dumbass.”

I don’t even flinch. How can I when fear comes crashing over me? I internally flick through our bond with Talon, praying I don’t feel what I think I will.

But sure enough, his bond comes weak. Woozy.

Pained.

Goddess, he’s in so much pain, and much more trouble.

“We have to find him.” I hurry out

“Ya, no shit.” Axel says, pushing past me with that dominance bullshit Alpha’s have, “and do not let Hunter find out you let Talon go. He’ll lose his mind.”

Of course I wouldn’t do that. Am I trying to get killed?

We don’t get far before Axel freezes. In fact, the whole party does.

Oh what now? I try to crane over my Alpha’s shoulder to see what it is that has people backing away from the door.

Whatever it is, it has the ridges of Axel’s back strained, and a low, threatening growl falls out of him.

“What is i-“ the smell of cinnamon and strawberry knocks the question out of my mouth.

No.

I finally peek over Axel’s enormous shoulder, and sure enough, Olivia is standing there, looking like a fallen angel surrounded by angry, hungry demons.

“Hold on.” Axel says with venom that terrifies me, “First I have to take out the prey.”

  • Bite   Chapter 158: Hunter

I come into the room, kissing Olivia’s forehead, and frown—her skin is burning. “Grief fever,” Axel grunts. “The doctor prescribed her some ibuprofen.” I nod, going over to the single metal chair in the room and slumping into it. “And you? What were you prescribed?” “Painkillers, mostly. You?” “Same.” He looks up at me. “You threw that shit away, right?” “Of course. I’m not making my parents pay for painkillers. I can handle some pain.” His lip twitches, hiding his smile. “Same.” We stare at each other for a moment. He looks as he always does, maybe with some bags under his eyes. I, on the other hand, must look like shit. He turns back to Olivia, muttering, “It suits you, you know?” “What does?” “Being Alpha.” I sit up, shock coursing through me. “Axel—” “I’m not giving you shit,” he insists. “I mean it, and I think deep down you know it too.” I gulp, not sure if I want to run from this conversation or use it to distract myself from Ricklan’s death and Oliv

  • Bite   Chapter 157: Hunter

Leaving Talon felt cruel, but I don't think Ryan Darlington would have wanted to see me right now if he knew what his son and I have gotten up to. I barrel down the white halls, the rose in my hand, with a single destination in mind—my dad’s room. But as I'm about to enter, a woman bursts out, looking paler than ever. I do a double take. “Mum?” Diane West’s eyes land on mine, and my heart breaks the second I see her worried brown eyes. “Hunter!” She breathes out the heaviest sigh of relief, wrapping me in her arms. “Baby, I was so worried about you. I got the message about what's been going on.” I'm a whole head taller than her, but I bend down and return the hug as tightly as possible. I rake my hands through her bobbed hair. “I’m sorry we scared you.” She pulls me back, eyes boring into mine. Anyone else would have yelled my head off. In fact, she should yell my head off. But my mother doesn’t have a single angry bone in her body. “Is Ricklan really dead?” she asks

  • Bite   Chapter 156: Talon

Hunter and I freeze. My father stands at the door, looking as intimidating as ever: the top three buttons of his shirt are undone, showing the swirl of his tattoos and a bulk of muscle I fear he may use to pummel Hunter. His bulging eyes flit between us. He didn’t actually see the kiss, but I think our position says enough. Hunter’s hand is still clutching my cheek, and I’m sure my lips look freshly wet, just like the boy sitting across from me.When my dad regains his voice, for the first time in my entire life, it’s quiet. “Hunter. Excuse us.”Hunter nods jerkily, shooting me an apologetic look. He grabs the rose from under my pillow and darts past my father, who shoots daggers at the world’s golden boy.The door closes behind him, plunging us into a tense silence. My father stays facing the door, his chest heaving hard. My throat has never felt drier. My fingers curl in the bedsheets until I pull them out of the bedframe.Lowly, my father asks, “Are you okay?”I take a deep breath.

  • Bite    Chapter 155: Axel

The nurse checks me in less than ten minutes, but if I thought I was okay, her worried response tells a different story. “You’re wounded nearly everywhere,” she scowls. “Nothing major—a few gashes here and there—but there are so many that you may need painkillers for the next few days.” I crook my brow. “So does that mean I can leave?” “It means that whatever happened to you must not repeat itself! Are you trying to get yourself killed?” I grimace. We, in fact, have gotten someone killed, and it’s killing my girl in return. So it’s killing me. Her eyes soften at my silence, and her voice does as well. “I’m glad you kids are okay. I don’t know your relationship with Ricklan, but I am sorry for your loss.” I run my hand over my pants, trying to avert her pitying gaze. I didn’t know him. I’ve been expected to grow up and be like him, but that doesn’t mean he meant anything to me. Still, death is death, and just like when my mother was killed, I want nothing more than to di

  • Bite   Chapter 154: Talon

“Alex,” Ryker seethes, “what the hell are you doing here?” This is the sort of situation that would have the old me reaching for a drink. And I can’t lie, the itch to down a couple of bottles of whiskey bites at me, but the thought of getting drunk and leaving Olivia in her state bites harder. Alex’s red-rimmed eyes flit between our group. “I—I feel bad about Ricklan.” “Fuck yes, you should feel bad,” Ryker snaps. “If you hadn’t gotten in our way, we could have killed Nester. We could have saved your people. Olivia’s dad would still be alive!” Alex clutches the rose closer to her chest, stepping back. “I didn’t think… I didn’t know…” She shuts her eyes, her throat working. “He promised me he was going to let you guys go.” “Yes, because the guy who enslaved an entire city is just the man you should trust.” Axel’s voice drips with surprising sarcasm. Even now, I assumed he’d be on her side. Her eyebrows crawl up. “It’s not—” “That simple?” Hunter finishes, tired eyes glaring at

  • Bite   Chapter 153: Ryker

We say we’ll take care of her, so that’s what we do. Hunter holds her up as the nurse examines her for wounds, and—thankfully—doesn't find anything but a few scratches. Talon helps her strip out of those bloody clothes as gently as possible. Axel relays the information the doctor needs about what happened, leaving out anything relating to Penwood for obvious reasons. And when the nurse walks her to the bathroom to help her wash off, I jump at the opportunity. I didn’t want to just sit around being useless. I want to show Olivia that I can be here for her no matter what happens, that she isn’t just someone I want when things are going good and we’re having fun. I take her from the nurse, ignoring the older woman's narrowed eyes. “This is a hospital,” the nurse informs me as I lead Olivia into the bathroom. “I hope you don’t intend to do anything funny in there.” I glare at her. What the fuck does she take me for? Even I’m not that much of an asshole. But looking at her is a mist

  • Bite   Chapter 4: Olivia

“We’re here,” Dillon says brightly. He pushes open my dorm room door, and if I weren’t so tense, I might have admired my new space. There’s a small bed pushed to the wall, a sturdy-looking desk beside it, and a large window overlooking the whole setup. It’s nothing special, but I'm just grateful

  • Bite   Chapter 3: Olivia

Predators. That’s what I’m surrounded by. No matter how nice this office is. No matter how pristine their suits are. I cannot forget that with just one bite, all four members of the council have the power to end my life. And they will. Or… most of them will. One offers me a sympathetic smil

  • Bite   Chapter 7: Olivia

The door closes behind them, but the threat rings in my ears.*Trust me, human. I haven’t even begun with you.*All I wanted was to meet Talon, and the person who was meant to introduce me to him just walked out with the wolf that assaulted me.My chest constricts with panic. What if there is

  • Bite   Chapter 6: Olivia

This was a mistake.Someone pushes his girlfriend behind him, growling at me like my disgusting human genes will corrupt her.But his hatred doesn’t even match the one from the large, tattooed Lycan standing in front of me. We lock eyes.“Human.” He snarls, making goosebumps flare over my skin. W
