"Is this the same regal gathering that you skipped by claiming that you had another headache?" Sara mocked me.
“Yes— well, it would appear that he's still a bachelor and the CEO of his own investment banking business.” "My step-sister Annet wants to get a date with him, her true age mustn't be mentioned under any circumstances."
“Why was I not surprised by it?“ Sarah chuckled, a sly sparkle appearing in her dark eyes as she spoke.
“ You're a bad girl!” Anna cracked a grin.
Sara shrieked as she said,” I only wish you would be mischievous once in a while.”
“It's about time you got out there and started enjoying yourself again,”
Anna said,” Well, I'm going to the party on Saturday,” as she made her way across the room to the center counter and seized the order book from Sara's hand.
” And it's about time that you went to have some lunch. Gemma should be back any second now, and Gerald will not be much longer."
Gemma was a trainee, and Gerald was a good gardener; nonetheless, he spent most of his time working as their delivery motorist.
“Alright, I am leaving. But, Anna, I'm being serious. It has been two years since Allen passed away, and despite how much you loved him, it's time for you to start dating again. Or at least entertain the possibility, rather than shutting down every seductive man who so much smiles at you. Have you not been informed? Complete chastity isn't only saddening but also dangerous to one's physical health.”
She had made one huge mistake, which she had pledged never to repeat, but she didn't dare tell her closest friend the truth. To Anna's eternal humiliation, she hadn't remained fully celibate in the previous two years. Instead of speaking, Anna hurled a wet sponger in her direction.
“ Let's go out to lunch!" She moaned as she flipped through the order book without actually reading it and watched Sara, who was laughing and ducking out the door as she left. She had already found and married her lifelong companion, but unfortunately, they were no longer together.
Although thinking about Allen now still caused her heart to feel constricted with grief, she had at least gotten over grieving at the idea of him and was now able to move on with her life. Anna looked up as she heard a customer go through the door and noticed that the wind chimes on the door were ringing. She forced the recollections to the forefront of her mind and forced herself to smile. ” How can I help you?'
It was Annet’s birthday that Saturday and David Miller cast a peep down at the beautiful blonde who was adhering to his elbow. The moment, the maid led him and Bryan into the drawing room of the magnificent Georgian estate on Beverly Hills that was the Williams residence. David and Bryan were guests at the Williams home. He wished her a happy birthday and gave her a present the night before, a Prada bag.
” And my grandfather, I suppose you know,” David said.
She cut him off in the middle of his sentence.” Oh, I'm apprehensive of it. How awful.' she smiled in Bryan's general way before continuing.
“ I was so sorry to hear that you had injured your ankle,” Annet said. “But I cannot deny how happy it made me that David came to supper in your place also,” lifting her gaze over to David, she gushed,” It was fate that we met again.”
“Is not that the truth, my sweetheart?” And as she prepared for his kiss, she leaned her head back. David whispered,” Probably,” as he looked down at his friend with a grin.
Annet was a clever woman who knew the score; he'd encountered her kind a thousand times, and it was no trouble for him to lower his head and encounter his lips smoothly against her scarlet mouth. Annet was a sophisticated lady who understood the game. Although it did surprise him, Bryan thought she was pretty, although he could not imagine that his grandfather would be interested in a model who was six feet tall and rake-thin like her.
Anna was the first person to hear the commotion as she down the stairway. She gave the flower arrangement that was sitting on the hallway table a critical examination before grudgingly turning her attention to the thing that was making the noise. Since Allen's death, she had only occasionally gone to events with a huge number of guests, but she couldn't skip this one.
She stepped into the packed drawing room, uncurled her shoulders, and peered about until her eyes landed on the birthday girl.” Happy birthday!” she said loudly. Annet's attention was drawn overhead to a man. Her face, which was fully made up, was elevated to his in preparation for a kiss, which he dutifully gave her. Indeed, when viewed from behind, he made quite an impression due to his height( far over six feet), wide shoulders, and jet-black hair. — and he was the ideal complement to Annet's model height and smooth golden hair.
Anna found herself thinking, 'They make a striking couple,' before allowing her sight to wander away, only to find herself immediately fixated on a senior guy who was standing alone and watching the couple embrace. He was hunched over, supporting his weight with a cane with a silvered tip, and he wore a look of complete confusion on his worn face, which she recognized right down. Anna went snappily in his direction after noticing that he appeared to feel just as out of place as she did. She beamed a grin at the man who had saved her from the board meeting.
“Mr. Miller!”
She extended her hand to him, and he reluctantly took it, saying that “it was pleasurable to see you once more.”
He said,” It's my honor,” and also, in an old-fashioned display of etiquette, he bowed slightly.
"Would you mind if you call me Bryan?”
Anna chuckled as she said,” Bryan it is, you old charmer.”
David recognized the sweet female voice at the same moment that he felt Bryan pulling hard on the sleeve of his jacket. Bryan was trying to get his attention. He moved his head sluggishly and saw the lady while she was holding his grandfather's hand. He tensed up, and every muscle in his body strained in response to the shock and fury he felt. She had been appearing in his dreams for the previous year, and indeed, though he detested her for her lack of morality, his body still longed for her.
Thank you for reading my Novel, I appreciate it:) A.M. Zanoria
David cupped her face and said, “There is nothing that can make me queasy when it comes from you.”“Your body is where my child grows, and your blood is her blood also.”“Don’t ever think that it is something to be embarrassed about.”Anna smiled weakly at the man before her. ‘How could she not love this man?’David led her to the shower while helping her out of her clothes. He reached out to take the soap, but she said, “Please let me do it on my own, my breast is so sore, and it hurts too much.”“Okay, but let me do your back.” he insisted as he watched her.“We can visit the baby after breakfast.” he said.At this point, Anna was excited to see Selene. She swiftly finished her bath and changed into a wrap-around pink floral dress. They ate their breakfast and went to the hospital after. They were looking at their child through the incubator, she was so beautiful yet so fragile. 'I can't wait to hold her in my arms,' Anna thought. She felt so mesmerized by her. David wrapped his arm
Anna woke up in the hospital the next day. Last night, she had a c-section because of the preterm labor. David was sitting near her. “Is the baby, okay?” She asked weakly. “The baby is in intensive care,” David said calmly. “Oh my God, is she going to be, okay?” concern was evident on her face. “All her vital signs are okay; however, she is in the incubator.” David cupped her face gently. “No need to worry, Anna, her pediatric doctor is a known specialist.” David reached for Anna and hugged her. At this very moment, she wanted to feel his warmth because she couldn't control her anxiety. Then the Doctor came to visit. “Good morning, Mrs. Miller.” She was an older woman with kind eyes. “I’m Doctor Avery Samuel, nice to meet you,” she said. “Nice to meet you too Doctor,” Anna replied. “Can I see my baby?” “Yes, but We had to wait for your OB-GYN, Doctor Ethan's recommendation.” “When it’s safe to move you, then you can visit your baby, but you have to understand that you cannot
Anna dialed a memorized number on her phone.A sleepy voice answered her call, and Anna felt a surge of relief. “Sara? How about lunch?”“I didn't get to bed until three, you impossible person. Must it be today?”“We could make it a late lunch,” Anna persisted and heard Sara's laughing approval.“Name the time and place, and I'll meet you there.”“One-thirty. At the Grove,” she returned without hesitation. They met within minutes of the appointed time and managed, by good fortune to be shown to atable overlooking the fountain. After the serious business of ordering was completed, they settleddown to exchanging news, something which lasted through the starter, and well into the maincourse.“You're positively blooming,” Sara complimented quietly.“Your hair, your skin. everything about you. I couldn't be more pleased everything is working out.”Anna managed a bright smile that didn't fool her friend in the slightest.“Not quite, huh? What's the problem?”“I didn't ask you to meet me
She rose to her feet and gathered the cutlery and glasses, then carried them through to thekitchen.David followed, and she heard him locking the outer doors and setting the security alarm. It was a simple task to load the dishwasher, and she had just finished when he entered the room.He looked over all the powerful masculine: dark trousers, light tan skin, dark hair, in stark contrast to the white shirt. Tall, he almost seemed overpowering, and, while she craved his touch, there was a part of her that cried out against any sexual defeat. She watched as he dispatched food down the waste disposal unit, then dropped emptycontainers into the pedal bin before washing and drying his hands. In silence, he turned andcaught hold of her hand, leading her through to the lounge, and then he selected a slow song.Soft music emanated from the speakers and Anna looked at him speechlessly as he drew her intohis arms.Crazy, she thought, as he pulled her close against him and began to drift slow
“There's an excellent piece you really must see. Expensive, but worthy of investment.” He riffledthrough the catalog pages and brought the item to David's notice, then made his excuses assomeone else demanded his attention.“I happen to like Zhang Hongtu,” Anna protested as David's amused gaze rested on her expressive features.“So do I,” he assured her, and, placing an arm around her waist, he directed her towards a display.“Shall we begin viewing?”Some paintings verged on the bizarre, others resembled caricatures of design over brilliant slashes of color. One, in particular, looked as if a very young child had indulged in a wild battle with numerous pots of multicolored paint.“What do you think?”Anna turned towards David and tried to present a considered viewpoint. After severalseconds she voiced with restraint, “I'd prefer not to answer on the grounds that anything I saycould be overheard, taken into account, and held against me.”“A remarkable nonconformist piece,” David d
“Anna. How are you, darling? Sorry to keep you waiting.”She closed the magazine and rose to her feet with a ready smile. “Michael.”“Your hand? It is still giving you pain?' He drew her towards the far end of the salon and seated her at a basin.“It aches a little.”Michael's personal attention was rare, and Anna, by virtue of being David's wife, appeared tobe one of the favoured few.She wrinkled her nose as he sluiced water over her hair and applied shampoo, rinsed and repeated the process with conditioner, then towelled it dry before leading her to a mirrored cubicle.“Are you able to drive again?”‘The specialist says I can. David would prefer Jacob to continue in the role of chauffeur. Although he has compromised and bought me another car.'“He is being protective, hmm?”“You could say that,” she agreed with suitable dryness.Michael picked up his scissors and comb and went to work. “Don't knock it, darling,” he cautioned wryly.“Men are not usually protective unless they care.
But just as she was about to torment him in the most personal way conceivable, he grabbed the bar of soap out of her hands. With a twisted smile, he proceeded to do to her what she had done to him. Utilized her strategies with just as much success as she had achieved. At last, Anna's need for him ha
If he wasn't trying to get her into bed, David had revealed himself to be a clever and amusing company. “Not even close,” he responded as he set his drink down and placed his hand on her as it was lying on the table. “I am completely informed on the subject.” He stared at her eyes and added, “You ar

Anna felt that the word our child had a certain allure that could not be ignored. She reasoned with herself that even if she married David, she would not be betraying the love that she felt for Allen because there would be no love involved in her relationship with David. She believed this to be true
