Massimo was shocked by Kathy's sudden appearance and momentarily at a loss as to how to handle the situation. He waved his hand and said, "Alright. Take them to the east wing on the third floor for interrogation."
Two attendants lifted Laura, while two others escorted Kathy. Laura didn't resist, only staring coldly at Kathy with a seemingly sarcastic smile on her lips.
The nobles who were still on the top floor began to make their way downstairs. Seeing Kathy being escorted with a lifeless expression, they gathered to discuss:
"What's going on? Is Kathy also behind this? Wasn't Elena her good sister? What kind of grudge could there be for her to be so ruthless?"
Laura sneered inwardly. This was just the beginning. Wait until Kathy's true colors were revealed; the shock was still to come.
Massimo spoke righteously, "Rest assured, everyone. Although she is my daughter, I will uphold justice and not spare a single culprit."
All the attendants returned to their lord's side. Massimo clapped his hands, and the knights, armed with swords and wearing chainmail, marched disciplinedly into the crowd, heading towards the family leaders.
What were they going to do? Gasps of surprise were heard among the crowd.
"Don't worry, these men are not here to harm you," Massimo said.
"They are here to protect you," he continued loudly. "There have been too many unsettling incidents recently, and I know you are all worried. As your lord, it is my duty to protect you. From today onward, my knights will also guard you!"
The clan members were very puzzled, and someone whispered, "How is this possible? Without the knights' protection, he could easily be harmed."
Massimo held his palm up, and a mirror floated in the air. "My castle is protected by a magical spell left by the first patriarch. The power of death cannot cross its high walls. Don't worry about me. If you are afraid, you can also seek refuge within the castle."

Laura was led into the cell, kneeling unsteadily on the floor, lost in her own thoughts. The moments ticked by unnoticed, her mind a blur of confusion. With a soft exhalation, she summoned Ned.
A wave of Ned's hand enveloped Laura in his cloak. Pulling her close, he nibbled tentatively at the delicate skin of her neck, never breaking the surface.
Accustomed to Ned's hearty appetite, Laura endured his bites until her bones seemed to show through. "Enough," she murmured.
"If you must feed, then do so. The itch is unbearable."
Ned's hesitation vanished as he sank his teeth into Laura's thigh. The force of his bite was brutal, the flesh catching in his throat. Struggling to swallow, he watched Laura's impassive face for any sign of discomfort.
Suddenly, Ned's world turned upside down as a vice-like grip squeezed his neck. Gasping for air, he coughed and sputtered. "What madness is this?" he demanded.
"Have you lost your senses, servant? I've done nothing to warrant this. You invited me to feed."
Laura's grasp tightened, pulling Ned's head into the shelter of her arms. "Cease your deceit," she whispered fiercely. "Your charm will not sway me. Do not mistake my restraint for weakness. My heart is mine alone to command." Her hand pressed against her chest, a solemn oath.
Ned wrestled free from Laura's embrace, his lips brushing hers in a fleeting kiss. A blush crept up her cheeks. "Such innocence," he chuckled, nuzzling her neck. "Is this your first taste of freedom?"
Laura's blush deepened, her words stumbling over each other. "I am no innocent," she protested. "I have known the touch of a lover before. This is not the same."
A sudden realization dawned on Laura. Her words tumbled out, unbidden. With a desperate lunge, she threw herself against the jagged edge of the cell. The pain was excruciating, but it cleared her mind. Gripping Ned's shoulders, she dug her nails into his flesh. "You've cursed me again," she hissed. "But I will not yield. I defy you. Whatever your plans, know that I will fight to the death."
Ned's eyes narrowed, but he made no move to pull away from her grasp. "Very well," he said calmly. "I will not tempt you further. Your heart is your own." He settled back against the cell wall, his gaze never leaving Laura's face.
Laura held his gaze for a long moment before relaxing her grip. She knew Ned would not make any further moves, at least not now. As for what would happen next, she would be ready. She had learned much about Ned in this short time. He was unpredictable, yes, but there was a childlike innocence to his cruelty that she found oddly compelling. Still, she would not let him win. She would resist him to the bitter end.
Years later, as the sun cast its golden rays over the peaceful countryside, Ned and Laura sat on their porch, looking out over their lush garden. Their hair was now white with age, but their eyes still sparkled with the same mischievous glint as in their younger days.Laura tended to the flowers while Ned tinkered with a small device, his mind still filled with ideas and inventions. They had grown old together, side by side, and their love had only deepened with time. One day, a young boy appeared at their cottage. He introduced himself as a descendant of one of their old friends and said that he had come to seek their wisdom. The boy, named Alex, was a curious and adventurous soul, and he wanted to know more about the legendary heroes who had saved the kingdom.Laura and Ned smiled at the youngster's enthusiasm. They invited him to stay and share their stories, their experiences, and the wisdom they had gained over the years. Alex was eager to learn, and he listened intently as they
Leo spoke up to Halen, "Prince Halen, something this bizarre must be caused by some kind of supernatural force. I've heard of a similar incident happening in a kingdom to the east."Upon hearing Leo's words, Halen's eyes lit up, and he called Leo close to him, eager to hear more.Leo began to speak in a measured tone, "Prince Halen, it is rumored that a curse was placed on the head of the patriarch of that family, causing a series of strange events that ultimately led to the deaths of all its members."Halen was taken aback and asked, "Do you know who the patriarch of that family was?""I've heard rumors that his name was Massimo Legoza!" Leo replied.Halen's eyes widened in surprise, "What! How could it be him?"Seeing Halen's reaction, Leo pretended to be oblivious and asked, "Why, Prince Halen, do you know him?""He's the Duke of our family. I never knew he was once the patriarch of a family," Halen said, sounding alarmed.Leo feigned concern, "Oh, Prince Halen, then you must be ca
The guard hurriedly entered the study to report. "King, something terrible has happened. The Queen... The Queen is gone.""What?" King Naumes stumbled slightly, his face registering disbelief."King, the Queen is dead," the guard said tremulously, afraid of the king's anger."What! Impossible! My mother was fine. How could she be dead? You stupid guard, shut your mouth!" Halen looked incredulous, contradicting the servant and kicking him to the ground.King Naumes pointed at the guard, his voice trembling. "Where is the Queen? Tell me where she is!""King, she's at the castle gate. The doctor believes she fell from the terrace," the guard said.King Naumes rushed to the castle gate, his heart pounding. He saw the Queen's closed eyes and the blood staining her lips, her blood soaking into the ground. The king embraced the queen, shaking her body and calling her name desperately. But she wouldn't respond to him like she used to, and the king howled in despair."Why? Why?" The king, who
Ned gently placed the handkerchief back over Laura's face and patiently explained, "If you don't wear this, Massimo will recognize you instantly when you come across him. It will be difficult to carry out our revenge then."Laura found Ned's words reasonable and didn't protest further. That evening, Ned and Laura were standing on the top floor of the castle, admiring the view. "Laura, what do you think we should do now?" Ned knew that with Massimo's return, Laura would be eager to take the next step."It's time we create something interesting to celebrate Massimo's return," Laura said with a glint in her eye.Ned understood Laura's intention and asked, "Who do you want to be the first to initiate this?""Of course, it should be our esteemed First Prince. I want him to go down and fetch washing water for my sister
Nevin slowly approached Laura and placed his hands around her waist. "Could you be my princess consort, replacing the previous one?" he asked. Laura felt a sense of disgust as she heard this. She almost pushed him away, but then she thought that being close to the prince might provide an opportunity to exact revenge on the princess consort. So she pretended to be bashful and remained silent. To Nevin, Laura's silence seemed like acquiescence. He continued, "Alright, then from now on, you will maintain the schedule of the previous princess consort and take her place. You won't have to do any cleaning; I'll have the servants do it for you."Just as he finished speaking, Halen walked in and applauded, saying, "Brother, you're really in high spirits! The princess consort has just left, and you're already cozying up to her servant." Laura, sensing Halen's arrival, discreetly made her way out, but lingered near the door.
The knife pierced through the princess's body, and she slowly collapsed to the ground.Everyone was horrified by the princess's actions. In the distance, Ned watched the scene with a smile."This family is really interesting," he said.Nevin's eyes widened as he watched the princess lie motionless on the ground.Halen immediately ran over, cradling the princess's body in his arms. "Why? Why did you do this? You didn't have to protect me," he asked, confused.Blood continued to pour from the princess's mouth as she trembled and spoke. "Because you were so good to me, and I knew all about your plans," she said."You knew, but you still helped me? Why are you so foolish?" Halen was shocked to learn that the princess had been aware of his schemes."Because...because you were one of the few people in this castle who were kind to me. Even
