Chapter 7

Lazarus watched as his daughter left the office. He waited until the whole office was quiet before he looked at the king.

“Alright Zeph, do I want to know why you took a vial of blood from my daughter?”

Zephyr sat fully back, lifting the vial and lifting it underneath his nose, still getting a hint of her scent.

“ I want the full truth, I want to know who started that fight and….”

He rolled the vial in between his fingers.

“It gives us a possible timeline for when her Phasing will start, in which I am guessing is extremely close.”

Lazarus sighed, running his immaculate fingers through his thick black hair. He knew it was coming too. “ I am already guessing it is going to be within a month. The problem is she lives in a household full of humans.” When Lazarus tried to speak again the King held up a hand.

“Let me truly be honest with you and you need to shush and let me finish then you can go all manly on me.”

Lazarus clamped his mouth shut and listened.

“Between you and me we both know Belle will have the hardest Phasing being your eldest and firstborn of your Bloodline. It is not going to be easy. For starters her strength will be amazing as she is already has been showing amazing skills. It’s the Bloodthirst that’s going to hit her hard and fast. The problem is when she goes to kill it going to hit her hard because she was raised more in the human world where emotion gets the better of most humans where the vampire court don’t. The guilt of her first kill is going to make her run straight to who Lazarus?”

Reality sunk straight into Lazarus’s gut, he knew exactly where she would go.

“Oh god she will run straight to her mom and hearing the heartbeat and blood rush. She will kill without question.”

It made his stomach turn in a nasty knot something that hasn’t happened in centuries.

“What do we do Zeph, I cannot have her doing that to be label as a High Treason and lose my Eldest to one of the High 5 Laws.”

The King smiled and looked at his friend.

“I promise you on this Lazarus, I will not let Jezzebelle lose her humanity ok. I have a plan but me, you and the High Council members will need to keep it quiet. What will happen is one of us will technically be looking after her until it happens. Now as a lessor punishment I am thinking of having her accompany us to Sommerset for Spring Break. That is in two weeks. So I am praying with all of my evil black heart of mine her vampire self stays locked in its cage till then. I will tell you this though, if she does phase during that time it will take majority of us ancients to help her through this and I will gladly help her through.”

Lazarus looked at Zephyr with curiosity. Something was smelling funny and its not the furniture.

“Ok Zeph, what do you want and what is it going to cost? You do not like to help out to watch kids turn properly. You always left it to us. The Heads are usually the ones to teach everything. Why now?”

Snickering the King looked at Lazarus.

“Too be very fair, your bloodline is very scary. You yourself date well back into the thousands. With how much power you have you could easily overthrow me in strength. Yet you chose to fall in love with a mortal and have two beautiful girls. Why is that I wonder?”

Lazarus looked away from Zephyr.

“Maybe it is because I value human life and don’t want to see a life waste away.”

Zephyr clasped his hands together, smiling as he did it with his fangs out.

“Most vampires now a days do not care as long as they hide the body and it never gets found. Your eldest follows literally in your path. She values human life. Her main objective is to protect her family, not having one. I caught that the other day. She is also very pleasing to have around.”

Slowly looking at Zephyr, Lazarus snorted.

“Yeah ok obviously you need a reality check, when you put her, her sister, Kaitlyn and Abigial together in the same room, you get a very explosive bomb and a tornado that just detonates in place.”

“And who usually calms them down?”

Lazarus turned his head a little bit and looked at the King.

“Where are you going with this subject?”

Zephyr snickered and smiled.

“Wouldn’t you like to know old friend?”

Zephyr got up from his chair and started to pack up paperwork placing it in a briefcase, snapping it shut.

“Come on we have to go get ready for this ridiculous meeting. You know how much I hate this annually bull of whining and crying. I still wish you would have taken this blasted job.”

Lazarus roared with laughter.

“Go to Hell Zeph. I would rather lose my sun walking abilities and meet the sun early morning than sit on your throne. I’d probably sun fry all the whiners!”

Both of them left the office laughing evilly.
