MasukIf Frank thinks that I will leave it up to him to discover information about my father, he is a complete moron. I don’t know him, and I don’t fully trust him either. I look around. I know that he left, but it still feels as if he is in the room. Maybe he isn’t human? It doesn’t matter because I didn’t come to explore myths and legends. I came to learn if my father is still alive or not, and I won’t leave until I have proof. There has to be a way out of this room without Frank noticing. I find what I need. There is a vent behind the dresser, and I can fit through it. Perfect! Catch me if you can, Frank!
I am a few blocks away when I get a message. Frank is asking if I am ready to go. Get ready for a surprise, big man! “Why aren’t you opening your door? Didn’t you hear me knocking?” he asks.
“Um, not really. I was a bit busy trying to enjoy myself, so you may go.”
“I have tried being nice. In five seconds, I am coming in. I have a key thanks to the clerk on duty.” He responded with a smirking emoji.
I reply with an angry emoji followed by, “WTF is wrong with everyone in this town? He had no right to do that even if you know each other. I am reporting this fucking place! Just go sit in the damn car and wait.”
“Nope, I am getting you myself.”
“NO!” I typed as I laughed. I would love to be able to see his face right now.
“Where the hell are you? Tell me now!” I can almost hear his loud growl of frustration from here because he is clearly used to getting his way.
“Not in the room,” I quip.
“You seem to think this is funny. Well, ha fucking ha. Now, where are you?!?!” He types devoid of any emojis. Serves him right for thinking that he had any right to order me around.
“I already told you that I won’t leave until I have information about my father. So go back to finding that girl to walk in the moonlight with and leave me alone,” I type as I keep walking further from the motel.
“While you were misbehaving, I found a bit of information. It isn’t much, but it is something. How about I tell you in my car? Come on, sweetheart, it’s worth it,” he messages.
“I don’t trust you because you want me gone too badly.”
“Sugar, it’s not about what I want. You are in some serious fucking danger. Stop being an ass and try to understand,” he replies.
“Listen, I am an adult and can take care of myself. I am not going to let some psycho vampire wannabe scare me away from learning the truth. I have come too far and even sacrificed a great internship while I finished my degrees. I need to know if my father is alive or not. I deserve it!”
“Fine, try and play tough. Good for you, but it isn’t smart. You could get yourself killed. You are in my territory, so go ahead and run, but I will find you. I have a special talent for it,” he responds.
“Okay, sniff a way, good doggie, but you won’t root out this fox. I don’t care if you’re a damn bloodhound.”
“I ain’t a damn dog! Didn’t last night teach you anything? You aren’t safe walking around alone. What if you get attacked again?” he asks.
“I will handle it, besides, I found a lead. I found a place he used to live in, and by the looks of it, it has been abandoned for a long time.” As I was walking around, I saw a house that resembled what was in the background of the photo. I found a weathered plaque and cleaned it off. Underneath it had my last name. Yes, it is common, but this can’t be a coincidence.
“I don’t think you should go in there. Besides, what do you think you will find? He could have just dumped you and your mother.”
His statement stings a bit because it could be the truth. “I don’t care if he did. I just want to know.”
“You won’t get in, so just come back to the motel,” he urges.
“I will find a way in. I have skills.”
“B&E, huh? Don’t do something so stupid. I am on my way,” he replies.
“You don’t even know the address, and I have location turned off on my phone.”
“Don’t need it. I have my ways. When I get there shortly, I expect to find you standing on the lawn waiting for me. Be a good girl, sweetheart.”
I laugh. “Too late!” I ran into a cobweb. “Ick, it is so dark and dusty. There are several families of spiders living here. I am going to need an exterminator.”
“GET OUT NOW! It isn’t your family’s place anymore. It belongs to some very wealthy and powerful people.”
“So what if it does? I can go through the courts to reclaim my heritage, that’s if I even want this place.”
“Are you trying to die? Nothing is worth that. Sugar, get outside now.”
I roll my eyes. “Are you trying to tell me that everyone in this town is some kind of freak who thinks they are a supernatural being?”
“Not everyone. Just the clan that guy was from.”
“Don’t you mean cult?”
“Don’t nitpick words, smartass. It is too complicated to explain via text, and it isn’t any of your business,” he replies.
“Well, it is my business because some dude is sleeping on my dad’s old couch.”
“Describe him.”
“He seems passed out from drinking or drugs. There’s part of a blood bag on the floor by the couch. Is his cult into roleplaying?”
“Get your little hot ass outside now before you get yourself into more trouble!”
“I won’t leave empty-handed. I will search each room and not break anything. Besides, if it is so dangerous, why don’t you come fetch me?”
“I don’t fetch! I am nearly there. Get outside.”
“I think I found something. There’s a photo taken before he left of my mom, him, and me.”
“How touching. Grab it and get outside. I can look at it when I am driving you home.”
“Why not look right now? I can hear you, you know.”
“I am not out of my car yet.”
“Sure you are. You are a terrible liar.”
“Sugar, I am not lying. It must be that guy. Get out NOW!... Sugar?...Damn it!”
“HELP!”
‘I tried to tell you the night of the ritual. Apparently you forgot that along with what love and consent was. Anyway, the White Wolf stood between me and your blood-thirsty wolves. One snarl from him and they tucked tail and ran.’‘It could have been someone from the Outlands Pack.’I shake my head. ‘He was no rogue or outsider. He screamed alpha to me. He looked at me with respect. He was huge and he could tear your pack apart.’“What did he do?”‘He stared at me as if he knew me.’‘Sugar, you were likely in shock. Your mind was playing tricks on you.’‘NO. It wasn’t. I was calm and ready to filet some wolves. I warned them. That wolf looked me in the eyes. I felt him the same as I feel you.’‘Don’t romanticize this.’‘Believe me or not. I know what I saw and felt.’‘Fine, but don’t follow him, if you see him again.’‘Excuse me, Frank. You sound like a jealous lover right now. You are the one who fucked this up, not me. I only wanted you. No pack, no title, just you.’‘I am not jeal
He growls and pulls me closer. “Frank, get control of yourself for just a minute and then you can go all caveman.” He doesn’t respond. Fuck it. I will let him take control, for now. Frank rips my clothes off as he nips at my neck. It hurts, but not badly. I fall back onto the platform. He rips his underwear off. His cock is standing at attention and fully engorged. This looks like it will be rough. Fine. His lips claim mine. He presses into me, more feral than he ever has. He grips my waist tightly, pulling harshly against him. But I like it. I feel my wolf stirring. My vision blurs as bits of gold light dot my vision. “Frank.”His eyes meet mine, but his are wild and clouded. My skin prickles as his lips find my neck. I surrender. I arch my back offering myself to him. His hands roam my body, claiming every inch. His eyes darken before he take a nipple into his mouth, biting lightly and sucking it. I moan as I fist his hair, pulling him in closer. His teeth graze my neck as my nail
Fine, I will play along. I walk out the front door. I stop and survey the area. Nothing looks out of place. I don’t smell anything weird, at least not yet. I turn and look at the wolves. ‘Fine, let’s get this ritual over with.’They stop for a moment before one of them uses his head to motion to the woods. I walk aimlessly. Periodically, I glance back at the wolves behind me. They growl and grin. More wolves appear. They are all growling and snarling. So much for the alone part. Jack needs put down! I look around for any sign of a path or hint of anyone I may know. I am met with darkness, trees, and wolves. One lunges out of the shadows snapping at my face. “DOWN! OR DIE!” It hesitates for a moment. I need to find a weapon. I sprint in the woods, trying not to fall. Wolves are nipping at my heels. They are hunting me. Well, this isn’t the first time I have been hunted in these woods. I create some distance and look for cover. I need something to mask my scent. I spot a huge patch of
‘You think I am here because of the mark?’ I sigh. ‘If you do, then you don’t know me at all. I didn’t want to leave you that night at Bob’s but my desire for the truth won out. I didn’t think I would be gone long. I planned to tell you everything too. Then fucking Armond! But no, no mark is controlling me at all. I am here because I want to be because I love you.’‘I love you too. It scares me. When you look at me, I see everything that I will lose.’‘I get that, but you went about it the wrong way tonight. You made me feel as if I was the problem, not a solution. You were like your pack tonight. You only want one thing and that’s for me to look pretty as I shut up and bow. You want me to smile and be your pretty Barbie Doll Luna. A fake and empty vessel. That’s not me, Frank. That won’t ever be me!’‘I want YOU. I want the real YOU.’‘Are you sure?’‘Yes, and know that I didn’t ask for this ritual. I know who you are to me. The Elders pushed for it. I thought they would drop it. I wa
He smirks, but there isn’t any amusement in his eyes. I know that this is serious, but I needed to try some levaty. “This isn't a game. I could lose all respect.”“Frank, you don’t understand. Since the blood moon, I have caught glimpses when I have touched people or things. I think some of that magic is still there. Jack is causing the dissension. He was the one who tred to get you to mark Scarlet so the could control the whole pack that way. I think he had something to do with your father’s death and perhaps mine too. I don’t know about that, but I will. I will learn to control this gift as long as I have it. I am not trying to disrespect you or werewolves. I am simply trying to convey what I see and feel.”He pulls me to him by my wrist. “Before I could figure this all out. Now that you are Luna it is different. You have to obey.” I try to break free. “You know that I am stronger.”I raise my chin. “Oh, I know, alpha. I don’t need strength. How about I just rip this dress off and w
He scoffs. “You came all this way not knowing about the ritual that awaits you?”“I came to bid the fallen farewell. After all, a funeral is about honoring the dead. So unless the ritual is something to honor them, it should wait. Shouldn’t it?” This guy is so disrespectful. He has to be the one who claims to have visions. “Then perhaps you aren’t ready and Frank hasn’t explained it,” he says. He doesn’t respect Frank. His tone is clear in that instance. He thinks he runs the pack. I feel sorry for Frank. He needs to overhaul this pack or give it up entirely. I have yet to find anyone who is genuine besides Frank. I just look at the Elder. He says, “You must spend the night in the forest. ALONE.”I internally laugh. Chances are, lately I have spent more time in the forest than him. I also guarantee he didn’t outrun vampires or fight them in the woods either. He continues in an effort to intimidate me. “It will end when Frank finds you. Your wolf can help, of course.” This guy needs a
