Chapter 8: Official Introductions

His paws beat against the dirt and freshly fallen leaves. Kaynon's heart soared with the thought of seeing his oblivious mate again. Images of her bright green eyes and long wavy, almost black hair brushing against her curvy hips, had his mind so muddled a tree root tripped him. He landed in a heap with a thud, though not even his little trip could get his mood down. After righting himself and shaking out his fur, he heard a howl of pain. Kaynon wanted to ignore the sound, yet his gut had him turning towards the creature.

He found the pained creature lying on its side, twitching its huge black paws. He scented the air, it was female. Not only did he realize this heap of thick black fur was female, she was his mate in her wolf form. Suddenly he became very nervous, his paws frozen in place, his heart skipping beats and his breath caught in his throat.
