MasukI could have sworn the ticking of the clock got a little louder as everyone
stared at me, looking at me like I had grown a second head.
“are you talking to me?” he blinked, not expecting that I was going to talk
back at him. I mean that was one thing I never did, because I was alwaysso scared that I was going to upset him. But honestly? I did not find it in me
to care anymore
“look, I have a long day today, if you don’t mind, the Alpha actually called
for me” I said, side stepping him as I made my way out of the house, or at
least tried to side step him before he pulled me to him.
I felt the sparks run up my spine as he held on to me so tight, pulling me
closer t himself.
“what the fuck do you think you are doing?” he said, the confusion in his
eyes was absolute at this point.
I shoved my hands away from him, sizing him from head to toes before i
walked away, not even bothering to pay him any mind even as he
screamed my name at the top of his lungs.
I rushed straight to the Alpha’s quarters. In the past, the alpha basically
forced me to have the mating ceremony in front of everyone which was the
cause of everything that was happening and now? There was no way I was
going to let that happen to me.., not this time around.
I took in a deep breath as I stood in front of his office, I was scared. No
matter how close Ian and I had gotten, his father always scared the shit out
of me.
I raised my hands, wanting to knock when the door opened slightly.
“enter”
was all he said, as though he could already sense that I was at the door.
I bowed my head, taking a step into the room when my body froze.
“Alph…
” I tried to greet him, but I was at a loss of words as I came face to
face with the stunning beauty.
“I think I might take this one?” the man said, looking at me like I was some
piece of snack that he was ready to devour.
“she is not yours to take!!” the Alpha snapped, growling as he shot the man
on the opposite side of the office a warning stare.
“
…she is mated to my
son and would have…
”“oh please” he rolled his eyes, standing up as he wiped the imaginary dust
off his body.
“we would talk about this later. Think of my offer though, I’ll be
back” he walked passed me, still having those intense eyes on me.
“Alpha” I bowed, feeling a bit embarrassed that I actually was staring at a
man in front of my Alpha, like some starved puppy.
“the ceremony would commence this evening, make sure you are ready
for-
“
“if I may interrupt, Alpha” I ignored the way his gaze fixed on me as I cut
him off but I was honestly not in the mood to listen to those talks, not right
“
now.
… but I would not be going ahead with the ceremony. It’s not just
what Ian and I want at the moment. We are yet to decide…
”
He slammed his hands on the table, looking at me with rage people
rumored he had only for the rumor.
I instinctively took a step back, bowing my head in submission.
“that fool
does not know what he wants!! I know what is best for him and I say that
what’s best for him is to stay with his mate provided by the goddess!!!!” the
room shook as he screamed, it looked like he was barely keeping himself
from shifting which almost had me shitting my pants. The confidence I had
come with had evaporated into thin air.
“I… as the Alpha pleases” I murmured, deciding that it was better I find
another means to stop the mating ceremony from happening instead of
barking at the wrong tree.
I rushed out as fast as my legs could carry me, running through the halls
until my feet brought me to one place that I did not want to be.
Ian’s quarters.
I gulped, his scent hitting my nose before I could turn back which melted
my heart just the slightest.
‘what if he had change, what if he was different from the first time? What if
everything that happened was just a really bad dream?’ I placed my handon the door, opening it slightly as the thoughts kept flooding my mind,
making me want to scream out loud.
Instead I took in a deep breath, pushing the door to get a proper view of the
room before I paused.
“fucking go faster” my sister moaned, scratching his back as she tried to
get a grip as he thrusted into her.
“be quiet!” he snapped, but somehow he said it with such gentleness that
made you loose your mind,
I watched for a full minute, unable to process what the hell I was seeing
while they were very much lost in their own world.
I swallowed, or at least tried to but it felt impossible, especially with the
lump at the back of my throat.
“Ian” I whispered, getting their attention finally.
They did not cower, instead, he locked eyes on me, his eyes twitching as
he continued to thrust. He leaned down “I am so fucking close” he
whispered, but still loud enough for me to hear while still maintaining eye
contact with me.
I felt sick to my stomach.
I rushed out the door, aggressively wiping the tears that threatened to fall.
“they are not worth it, I knew they were close.. I saw it in the dream…
” I told
myself over and over but it still felt difficult to breathe.
I grabbed the walls, trying to steady myself, the thought of him…
I kept walking straight, trying to steady my breath before I bumped into
someone. I turned around, getting ready to apologize to the person when I
saw her.
She looked like she had seen things that no one should, at the same time,
she looked like she did not give a care in the world.
“you’ve been giving another shot to correct your mistakes child, don’t make
the same mistakes in this life”“what do you…
” I started, the words fading as she was no longer there the
moment I blinked.
“hello?” I turned around, thinking that she had maybe
gone somewhere and I just did not see her move but nothing. I was all
alone in the hall way, thinking to myself
‘what the fuck did I just witness?’
*
I made my way back into my room, on my bed, staring at the ceiling,
begging the universe to make sense of what the fuck I had just witnessed
but nothing came to mind.
‘another life
Another shot’ the thoughts circled my mind as I set my gaze on the
perfume that was now on my night stand. The same one that she had given
me all those years ago on my eighteenth birthday.
‘but today is your
eighteenth birthday’ my wolf whispered, startling me a bit since she was
never much of a talker.
“what if I was reborn?” I said, immediately feeling foolish for even
considering such a thought. I mean such things did not exist.
Or did they?
“get dressed, the mating ceremony is starting, we can’t be late” It was Ian.
He had come into my room through the already opened door, waltzing in
like he owned the place.
After I had seen him
After he knew that I had seen him.
“are you out of your mind?” I spat, looking at him with a mixture of shock
and dumbfoundness.
“look I am not in the mood for all this shit okay? Just get dressed and…
”“I Eloise cullon, reject you…
” the rest of the words died on my tongue as he
pulled me to him, looking me straight in the eyes.
“don’t you dare!! You are mine” he said, breathing heavily.
Eloise’s POV“Why don't you focus on fixing your own dying relationship instead of involving yourself in mine?”Frederick's words hung in the air, and for a moment, nobody spoke.I stared at him, stunned by the sheer cruelty of what he had just said. Before I could respond, Natalia caught my arm.“My lady, please,” she whispered. “Don't. Just leave it alone.”I looked at her tearful eyes, then back at Frederick. His expression remained cold, like he hadn't just said those terrible words to me.I swallowed the response sitting on my tongue.“Come with me, Natalia.”I guided her out of the room, ignoring Frederick's unyielding stare. I didn't know what had happened between them, but whatever it was, Natalia looked terrified, and I couldn't bring myself to leave her alone in that state.Once we were far enough, I turned to her, trying to find any clues in her expression.“What happened?”She shook her head avoiding my gaze. “Nothing, my lady.”“Natalia...” I said willing her to open up t
Frederick’s POVI stared at Natalia, trying as hard as I could to process her words.A vampire by blood… she was a vampire?I looked at her, trying to understand what was going on. She was trembled beneath my gaze almost as if she was scared of what I would say next.I wanted to tell her that nothing had changed. That I didn't care whether she was an elf, vampire, or something else entirely. She was still Natalia, the woman I had come to love, and nothing she told me could change that. But the words wouldn't come. For some reason my lips couldn’t even from a word. Her eyes dropped to the floor. She looked crushed. “Frederick?”I looked down at her, but she flinched in response. The small movement made something twist painfully in my chest. She was afraid of me. Even after everything we had shared, even after I had assured her that there was nothing wrong with her, she was looking at me as though I had become someone she needed to fear.“Natalia,” I began.“You don't have to say anythi
Frederick’s POVI couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened.Even after Eldagore had been dragged out of the throne room, even after the guards had restored order, my mind was still fixed on Natalia and the way she had knelt before Olpheus to beg for the vampire prince’s life. Why had she done that? Why had she been so desperate to protect a man who had dragged her away against her will? A man who had called her his mate, like he had every right to claim her?My jaw tightened. Her mate. The words kept repeating in my mind, each time stirring something unpleasant in my chest. I knew what the bond between mates meant. I understood the significance of the claim, the weight behind those words, and the implications of another man addressing Natalia that way.My thoughts drifted back several weeks, to the moment I had ordered someone to investigate Natalia’s background. I had wanted to understand her better, to learn where she had come from and what her life had been like before arrivi
Eloise’s POVMy words cut through the silence. Eldagore turned towards me, his expression darkening. Natalia’s eyes widened, fear plain on her face.“Eloise, please,” she whispered. “Just leave.”I didn’t move. I wasn’t going to rush at him or pretend I could defeat a vampire prince, but I wouldn’t stand aside while he dragged Natalia away.“You should have listened to her,” Eldagore said, looking down at me with something that I was too scared to say. Yes, I was scared, but that didn’t mean I would leave my friend at his mercy. Before I could react, he seized me by the throat. My hands flew to his wrist as I struggled to breathe. Then he flung me across the room like I weighed nothing at all.I hit the floor hard. Pain shot through my side, and for a moment, I couldn’t draw a proper breath. Then something shifted in the room. I couldn’t exactly point out what, but I knew something had changed.Olpheus’s presence swept through it like a storm. The air turned bitterly cold, and magic p
Eloise’s POVThe strained laugh that escaped Eldagore was interrupted by a sharp whistle.Something flashed through the air.I barely had time to register the movement before an arrow came flying towards me. My body reacted before my mind could catch up, my werewolf instincts surging to life as I twisted out of its path. The arrow grazed my skin, leaving a sharp sting along my arm before burying itself in the wall behind me.I stumbled, clutching my arm. What the hell?I looked around frantically, searching for whoever had fired it, but the throne room had erupted into chaos. Guards were drawing their weapons, nobles were scrambling for cover, and people were shouting over one another. Nobody seemed to know where the arrows were coming from.Another arrow struck a nearby pillar.Someone screamed."Protect the queen!" Olpheus roared. His command cut through the commotion, and several guards immediately moved towards me. Olpheus was already at my side, his expression terrifying as he ex
Eloise’s POVThe man standing before us offered Olpheus a polite smile, seemingly unbothered by the hostility radiating from every single person in the room.“Forgive me, Your Majesty. I mean no disrespect, nor did I intend to cause a disturbance in your kingdom.” He placed a hand over his chest and inclined his head slightly. “I am Prince Eldagore of the Seven Realms, heir to the vampire throne.”A vampire?“Prince or not, you have some nerve coming into my kingdom uninvited.” Olpheus took a step forward, his voice dropping into a dangerous rumble. “What exactly are you looking for? Choose your next words carefully, because I am one second away from snapping your neck.”Eldagore's expression didn’t falter not even for a second.“I have come to collect what belongs to me.” he said, looking pointedly at Natalia.Olpheus stared at him looking almost bored. “Nothing here belongs to you.”“Perhaps you should allow me to define what I mean, Your Majesty.”Eldagore lifted his hand and point
