Chapter 2: Pleasure Squad

Alpha Asher’s POV

I watched as the fire I set on the rogue in front of me crisped. I felt contentment course through my veins as he screamed and begged for mercy, his soul slowly moving out of his body. This was what I did to every rogue that comes into my pack and proceeds to create havoc amongst my people.

I raised my head to look at the Epsilon’s of my pack that I brought to witness this. There was sheer disapproval on their faces over what happened. They were always trying to be positive—saying things like there are other ways to punish someone other than killing them, but I greatly disagree.

My father, even though he was a shitty man, had taught me a lot of things to this day on how to become a good Alpha. One of the things he said that stuck to me was how every person that starts mischief in the pack will turn out to be like a cancer eventually, as time goes on.

The only reasonable thing to do was eliminate them and then, no one would want to be the second scapegoat. It was why all of my people were well-behaved and there were hardly any crimes, because they knew I took only a few people to the dungeon—which was my least punishment.

Most of the time, I executed them in front of the whole pack and that served as a lesson to all of them.

“You may all leave.” I waved them a dismissive hand, and they bowed before they turned and left the pack court.

One of the maids had come forward and started to pack what was remaining of the rogue as my Beta, Rafael, came into the pack court. He was my best friend for more than twenty years now, which was why I made him my Beta when I inherited the throne from my father.

“I see you are in the mood for death today,” he peered behind me, pity passing on his face as he saw the remains. “You should cut down on the killings, Asher. You have killed three people this week.”

I nearly rolled my eyes. I didn’t just kill people for fun, even though I could if I wanted to. I killed people that were a threat to my pack, or those that committed treachery to me.

Forgiveness was something I was not accustomed to.

“I will add more to the list if I find someone that goes against my laws.” I shrugged.

He sighed dejectedly, “Do what you must, my Alpha.” He bowed down jokingly, and my lips tugged into a smile.

We both left the pack court and started to head outside. My latest car, which was gifted to me by one of my allies, was parked outside the pack court. I liked to drive it. It was a limited edition sedan.

I hopped into the driver’s seat, and Rafael got into the other seat. He put on his seat belt as I ignited the engine to life.

“So what is the latest news around?” I asked him, starting to drive out of the vicinity of the pack court.

My palace and the court weren’t that far but I always insisted on driving there, just as an excuse to drive this marvelous car. It was easily one of the best gifts I have ever gotten from someone.

“Alpha Alexander Bardawulf of the Crest Moon pack has invited you for one of his Omega auctions. He is auctioning a young lady there and insists that you attend.” He said.

“Doesn’t he have a better thing to auction out than an Omega?” I shook my head. “That man gives out his Omegas like he has a thousand of them in his pack.”

Rafael nodded, “He actually has a ton of them. This girl that he is giving out is young. She recently just turned eighteen and from what I heard, she has no mate. You might add her to your group of whores.”

“Don’t call them that,” I snapped. “They are called the pleasure squad, not whores.”

He laughed, raising his hands in the air.

“Whatever you say, my Alpha. I believe you should attend it, even if you don’t want to buy her because it will be good to meet other Alphas and bond with them. You might be one of the most powerful lycan kings in the world, but you still need allies.”

“I don’t,” I scoffed. “They need me. Without my support and aid, most of the packs around me would have been long gone.”

“Flatter yourself all you like.” He laughed.

I hated crowds, but I was willing to give this a shot. It shouldn’t be that bad.

Once we got to the palace, I drove my car down to the parking garage where my collection of cars were parked. I didn’t use most of them. I allowed my siblings to use them most of the time, then gifted them out sometimes to my acquaintances.

I slowed the car when I got to the parking spot, then hit the brakes. I parked it, then turned my neck to face Rafael who was about to exit the car.

“So, when is this event?” I asked him.

“It is later tonight. I have your private jet ready, and the maids are getting your luggage ready as we speak.” He explained.

“When were you going to tell me?” I raised my brow at him, and he smiled.

He always does this. He preferred to get everything ready before he told me about virtually anything. Sometimes it annoyed me but most of the time, I liked how he saved me the stress because I always had a truckload of work ahead of me.

“Later today.” He replied, and I sighed.

“You will have to stay back and keep the pack in order before I come back.”

“Come on,” he protested. “I have always wanted to travel there. I heard they have great women.”

Rafael’s mate left him a few years ago and since then, he has been in so much pain which made him closed off. This was the first time I was hearing him talking about wanting to give someone a chance.

I didn’t want to refuse him the chance, so I decided to allow him to tag along with me. I was going for a few hours, so I could keep my brother in charge. Hopefully, he doesn’t manage to burn the pack down into ashes before we are back.

“Fine,” I nodded. “You can.”

He nearly jumped up in excitement, “I should better go and start getting ready then.” He got out of the car.

I didn’t stop the smile that formed on my lips as I watched him bolt into the palace through the garage door. I got out and locked the car before I headed into the palace too.

I had to start getting ready before it was time.
