Nikolai POV

I stepped out of her office, the door closing behind as I stepped into the quiet hallway feeling accomplished. I stood there for about three seconds before any further step.

I took the elevator down, my hands in my pocket as I thought of the way Anastasia carefully read the contract, reading every clause. She's meticulous I'll give her that. Not showing any atom of fear or weakness.

Satisfaction coursed through me at the thought of keeping her by my side, and making her realize never to have messed with me in the first place

No one, not even a woman would dare make me feel disposable like she did.

I got to the parking garage, seeing Elias waiting for me by the car. I got into the back seat of the car, while Elias sat at the driver's seat.

“I need you to bury the footage, it shouldn't be accessible or traceable either.” He nodded in response as he started driving.

Elias knew better than to ask questions about why I was taking such a drastic steps.

“And also prepare the penthouse guest room, Temporarily,”

He looked at me through the rearview mirror. “Yes, temporarily.”

He grabbed his phone, typing while driving at the same time, careful not to lose total focus on the road.

I looked through the window as we drove through the city of london. The city looks the same as it always does. Everything has been quite boring until her.

Anastasia.

My mind instantly replaying the scene of Anastasia reading the contract, she wasn't just skimming through it or performing, she read through it. I bet she was looking for an exit out of it.

Watching her pretty lips curl into a frown, her eyes blazing with rage all I could think about was how hot she could look, pressed against the wall, screaming my name.

I smirked, my dick going hard at the mere thought it her.

I also couldn't help but think about the first time I met her.

The way she was seated on the barstool in Monaco gulping down alcohol like it was nothing. I had been watching her for twenty minutes and the one thing that amused me the most was the fact that when everyone in the room decided that I should be the one to choose them, she chose me.

What baffled me the most was the fact that she just left, no note, no phone number just cash on my night stand like I was someone she had hired to satisfy her sexual desires. No woman had ever made me feel that disposable before.

‎‎I had spent two months trying to find her. I continually told myself that it was about the briefcase until the briefcase actually became relevant. Before that it was something else entirely.

We got to the penthouse, I walked into my study, poured myself a drink.

‎ I just stood by the window doing the thing I usually do when a situation requires recalibration, which is hold very still and think it through completely.

I thought about what six months living with Anastasia would be like. Would it be rough? Would she hate even more? Would she beg on her knees just to be with me?

None of that really mattered I had arranged the terms that will give me proximity and time.

I recognize the fact that proximity and time is exactly what i need, not because I have a plan beyond that, but because every instinct within me says that she requires patience and I have so much of it when it truly  matters.

‎The bedroom? It's just a facade. I only told Elias to prepare the guest room because i knew she would need to feel like she had a choice in that specific thing.

My intention? Is for her to end up in my own room. But I need her to want it, to beg for it and I've got just the magic for it.

Elias knocking of the door of the study room snapped me out of my thoughts.

“Come in,” I turned to face him, dropping the wine glass on the table.

“Have you carried out the tasks I gave to you?”

“Yes sir! The footage is secured, the guest room is prepared and the press contact is on standby for the engagement announcement whenever you're ready,”

“Hold off the announcement for now,” Taking the glass wine and sipping from it.

“When she gets settled in, then we can move forward with the announcement,”

‎Elias clears his throat as though he was itching to say something.

“What is it Elias?” Putting down the glass wine on the table.

“It's very considerate of you to hold off on the announcement  of the engagement sir.”

I scoffed at his words. “I'm not fucking considerate. It's strategic on my part, nothing more.”

He looked like he didn't agree to what I had just said. Elias always had an opinion of his own but he knew when to cross the line and when not to.

“Can I ask a question sir?”

“Go ahead,”

“Not to disrespect you or anything of such, this is out of personal concern for you,” he paused, reading my face for emotions that would give him go ahead.

I placed my hands into my pocket. “What is it Elias?”

‎‎

“Do you think this arranged marriage is wise sir? Have you thoroughly considered what will happen after six months if the terms do not evolve?”

I shot him a look that said ‘Know your place’ which he understood immediately. I was in good mood today I wasn't going to ruin it with Elias petty concerns.

“Make sure her closet space is adequate, and get the fuck out of here.”

‎‎Elias leaves immediately.

I go back to my desk, opened the bottom drawer and take out a single photograph, the one Elias had sourced from the Monaco's club external security footage. It looks grainy and from a distance.

‎‎

I take one long look at the picture, before putting it back in the drawer‎ and gulping down the remaining drink.

I came to the conclusion that I've been circling around for the last two months. I wasn't going to tell her that I've been looking for her ever since we met in Monaco and that the briefcase was secondary

  • Bound By A Billion-Dollar Lie   An Old Friend

Anastasia's POV Nikolai stepped beside me, his arm wrapped around my face with a charming smile on his face. This was definitely a show to make Leona back off from me. From the way he was smiling he looked happy to be taking control of the situation. I can take care of myself Nikolai!"Leona." He called out his voice was warm, surprised, delighted. "You're back in the country, I didn't know you'd returned."Leona's expression transforms upon seeing Nikolai, she wears a big smile on her face, laughing as though she wasn't just verbally cutting me apart."Nikolai! It's been years. You look… well.""As do you. Still causing trouble, I see."They laugh and share an embrace, like a warm, familiar hug that lasted too long. His hands on her waist, while her hand was on his chest. Reconnecting like old friends. Old close friends. And I'm still standing right there feeling humiliated and ignored in front of all these people.“So how long has it been? Five years? Ten years?”“Actually it's be

  • Bound By A Billion-Dollar Lie   Excuse Me?

Anastasia’s POVI'm fucking furious and that wasn't just because Nikolai followed me into the powder room, it wasn't just because he cornered me against the marble counter with that infuriating smirk he always had on his face, it wasn't even because he kissed me like he owned me.I'm furious because I melted, because of his kiss. My body completely betrayed me, my lips parted for him, my hands wrapped around his suit jacket while I made a sound, a small, pathetic, needy sound and he heard it. He felt it, my body being desperate for him.I hate him! I hate him so much that it burns.I spend the remaining time of the gala completely avoiding him. With the way I've been acting needy, avoiding him is the right option for me.I walked around the hall like a ghost, acting invisible and smiling at the guests who I didn't know. Accepting champagne flutes I don't usually drink from. Making small talk with investors' wives and elderly countesses who pinch my cheeks and call me "the lucky girl.

  • Bound By A Billion-Dollar Lie   Forty-Seven Seconds

Nikolai's POV Anastasia's eyes remained on me and in that moment I could see the woman I saw in Monaco, the one with fire in her veins and steel in her spine. The one who didn't back down from anyone, least of all me."You don't get to dictate who I speak with," she said, her voice low and sharp. "We have an arrangement, Nikolai. Six months. Appearances. That doesn't give you ownership over my professional relationships.""Professional." I rolled the word around like a piece of candy. "Is that what you call laughing at his jokes? Touching his arm? Looking at him like he's the most fascinating person in the room?"Her mouth dropped open. "I did not touch his arm.""You leaned toward him.""Because he was talking.""And you laughed.""He was funny."I felt my jaw tighten. "I don't like it.""I don't care what you like."She was magnificent like this….. all fury and independence, her chest heaving, her cheeks flushed, her lips parted in defiance. I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to wipe t

  • Bound By A Billion-Dollar Lie   Off Limits

Nikolai's POV “If you would excuse me for a moment.” Anastasia said, smiling away from the both of us. My face still fixated on Damon Pierce and thinking to myself how he had a punchable face.I'd known this for years and that had been long before he became my rival, long before he started building his tech empire on the ashes of deals I'd passed on, long before he looked at my wife like she was a prize he wanted to claim. The man was handsome in that manufactured way that suggested he spent too much time in front of a mirror and too little time doing anything that actually mattered. But watching him make Anastasia laugh? Watching her smile at him like he was clever and charming and worth her attention?I wanted to put my fist through his perfect white teeth. He raised his hands in surrender, chuckling underneath his breath. “You guys are a power couple.” smiling at the both of us. "Your wife is extraordinary," Damon said, his tone light, professional, utterly infuriating. He'd recov

  • Bound By A Billion-Dollar Lie   Being His

Anastasia's POV We drove over to the gala that took place at the Plaza. It had crystal chandeliers and champagne towers. The kind of event where a single conversation could make or break a career, and everyone knew it.I wore the red dress. The moment we stepped through the doors, the effect was immediate, heads turned, conversations paused, while cameras flashed, taking the moment. I felt the weight of every gaze in the room, and I straightened up and smiled like I belonged there because I did. I had earned my place in this world, every bruising step of the way.But Nikolai was right beside me, his hand wrapped around my waist, and somehow that made all the difference. The next hour that passed was a blur. Investors approached, wanting to discuss opportunities. CEOs introduced themselves, hoping to forge partnerships. Media outlets requested interviews, desperate for a quote from the elusive Anastasia Reed. I handled them all with practiced ease, smiling, shaking hands, exchanging c

  • Bound By A Billion-Dollar Lie   Business… Of Course

Anastasia's POV Of all the things I expected Nikolai to say, sitting in my office with that infuriating smirk, shopping hadn't even made the list.I stared at him, he returned the favor staring back at me, utterly unbothered, still twirling my fountain pen like he had nowhere else to be."You dragged yourself across town," I said slowly, "broke into my office, and sat in my chair……""Your chair is more comfortable than mine."".....to ask me to go shopping?"He shrugged. "We have an event tomorrow, a gala and you need a dress.""I have dresses.""You need this dress." He set down the pen and stood up, circled around my desk with the easy confidence of a predator who knew exactly where his prey was going to run. "I'm not taking no for an answer, Anastasia."I should have said no, I should have set down rules about what I can do with him after all it was only a contract marriage. Instead, I heard myself say, "Fine. But you're paying."His smile was slow and devastating. "I was counti
