I remember one day when I was being kicked and beaten by a group of kids my age. I heard a knock at my door."Come in," I replied, and to my surprise, it was Mary. I had not seen her since that night when she had a bit too much to drink."Hey there, I have not seen you in a while, so I thought I should check up on you," she said cheerfully.I yawned and stretched on my bed, feeling quite sleepy. “I'm really tired. Can you give me a few minutes to rest?" I said as I dragged the duvet to cover the rest of my body. "Blue, it's way past noon; I can not do that," she replied, pulling the covers off me.I pleaded, "Please, I'm feeling really tired."She gave me a puppy-dog look and said, "I wish I could leave you to rest, but I have no one else to hang out with, so I need you."Suddenly, a cute little boy rushed into my room."Mommy, Mommy, can I have one of the cupcakes now?" he asked with excitement.Mary smiled at him, her voice gentle. "Not yet, sweetheart, but soon." The little boy pouted and then ran off to play, his disappointment clear on his face.Mary turned

The last thing I remembered was the feeling of falling, followed by the darkness that enveloped me."Blue, are you alright?" someone asked as I slowly regained consciousness.I blinked, confused, trying to make sense of my surroundings. I was no longer in the art room instead, I was lying on a comfy couch, and the voices around me were filled with concern."What happened?" I managed to croak out.Troy, Mary, and a few others were gathered around me. Troy looked especially worried. "You fainted during the painting session," he explained gently.I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me. "I'm so sorry," I mumbled.Mary knelt beside the couch, her hand on my forehead. "You are burning up," she said. "Let's get her back to her room to rest."Troy agreed to help me. He gently carried me up in his strong arms, and I could not help but feel a rush of warmth at his touch. He carefully guided us to my room, where he laid me down gently on my bed. TROY’S POVOne of my guards said, "Alpha, we have got an intruder."I was taken aback by the unexpected news. "What?" I exclaimed, my eyes widening in shock. "Give me a moment," I requested, watching as the guard closed the door behind him.Turning back to Blue, I noticed her condition had worsened. Leaving her alone was the last thing I wanted to do, but duty calls."Blue," I began gently, "I truly wish I could stay by your side right now, but my pack needs my attention. I am sure you understand, being a fellow Alpha."She nodded slightly, her eyes reflecting understanding. "Yes, I understand."I looked at her one last time as I made for the door, Blue’s expression was unreadable. I wondered if it was from the sickness or because she genuinely wished I could spend more time with her. It would be better if it was the latter because I do not want to leave her side either. I swung my legs out of bed and stretched, feeling the pleasant ache from my legs. Yesterday had been quite a lot for me but I was thankful everything had gone exactly as planned. If it had, Tyga's and my head would have been hung by the Redmoon’s territory for daring to try them. I was really hoping Tyga made it back safe and sound. He played a crucial role in our plan, and I hoped he had returned safely to assist in training our army for the forthcoming attack on the Redmoon pack. But, you know, while all that is going on, I have got to make sure I'm ready and well equipped for what lies ahead.That is why I am heading off to continue my training with Troy. I need to learn his strengths and weaknesses so that when the time comes, we can strike with precision.I carefully selected my training outfit. I'm not sure what came over me, but there was something about seeing Troy's well-toned body, the way he laughed, and, I hate to admit it, but when he brought me those flowers and chocolates last night, my heart skipped a beat.At that moment, I kissed him. His lips were soft, and it felt magical, unlike anything I had experienced before.When I pulled away, I saw him, his eyes wide open, staring at me. Suddenly, embarrassment washed over me. I was certain he had not seen this coming, and now he probably thinks I am weird."I am so sorry, I have no idea why I did that," I confessed, my face red with embarrassment.He appeared stunned, unable to speak, I said sorry one last time before I tried to make my way out of the water.Suddenly, I felt a force pulling me back, and I found myself in Troy’s embrace. TROY’S POV.We walked back home, and it was obvious that Blue was feeling embarrassed. She maintained a considerable distance from me, no less than four feet, her face flushed with embarrassment. It seemed like she could not wait to put some space between us.I attempted to strike up small talk, but she responded with minimal words, mostly "mmmh" and nods, indicating her reluctance to engage in conversation. I wished I could tell her that it was perfectly normal for her to feel attracted to me and act on impulse, especially since she was my mate. However, considering our complicated history and the fact that she had not yet fully transitioned into a wolf, I decided to hold back on that conversation.Upon entering my house, I was greeted by the sight of Xena, my beta and close friend, who had seemingly made himself quiet at home. It was in the middle of the night, and I could not ignore the sounds of pain any longer. I debated whether I should go check it out or not. However, my curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to go.I gently pushed my bedroom door open and followed the noise, which led me right into Troy's room. I had a moment of doubt, wondering if I should intrude on his privacy, but heck, my curiousness won.Inside, I found Troy in the grip of some intense pain, seemingly unaware of my presence. His face contorted in agony, and he appeared to be trapped in some kind of trance. At that moment, a dark thought crossed my mind. I could take advantage of his vulnerable state, kill him, and escape before anyone found out but I dismissed the thought.I was about to turn back to my room when I heard Troy mumbling in his sleep like he was begging someone.
