Chapter Fourteen

Ella POV

The moment Rohan’s car vanished from my line of sight, I felt satisfaction settle in my chest. I stayed still for several seconds, listening for any movement behind me, watching the forest road to confirm he wasn’t circling back for a surprise attack.

When the air remained calm, I exhaled and walked toward the secondary route I had arranged with my guards.

The path we used fed into the capital from the west, a road no one monitored because it looked abandoned. Tall grass swallowed its edges and the trees hung low enough to hide any passing vehicle.

I slipped into the passenger seat of the waiting car, tapped the dashboard twice, and we pulled away.

Halfway to the capital, I finally reached for my phone.

“Ria,” I said the moment she picked up, “tell the guards to release Brielle. They should blindfold her and drop her at the market center. Make sure it is at the most crowded point. I’m sure she’ll find her way from there.”

Ria gasped softly. “Are you sure th

  • Bound to the Enemy Alpha   Change of Heart?

Chapter Forty OneRohan POV By the time night settled over the palace, the noise had become predictable. That was how I knew it was dangerous.Chaos, when it first arrived, was loud in a way that demanded reaction. This was different. This was organized speculation, recycled outrage and a case of a curious people. The kind that waited for permission to escalate. The kind that destroyed reputations slowly, politely, with clean hands.I stood by the window of my study, jacket off, sleeves rolled, phone resting on the desk behind me. It had not stopped buzzing all day with advisors, elders and business partners pretending concern while measuring exposure. Media handlers asking questions they already knew the answers to.I had answered none of them. It was not because I did not have answers, but because answering too soon gave the illusion that I was cornered. I was not.The city lights stretched endlessly beyond the palace grounds, a reminder of the machine I sat at the center of. Trans

  • Bound to the Enemy Alpha   Uncomfortable Silence

Chapter FortyElla POVI woke up to silence I wasn’t very comfortable with. The bed was too neat on the other side. It was cold and just untouched. Rohan didn’t come in during the night. Of course, that did not surprise me. Men like him did not linger after nights that complicated their mornings. They compartmentalized, executed and moved on.I stayed where I was for a full minute, staring at the ceiling, counting my breaths like it was a briefing I needed to survive. Then I reached for my phone. Emotions could wait. Information could not.The screen lit up with exactly what I expected and still did not want to see. The story had grown teeth overnight. What had been a curiosity had become a conversation. What had been a conversation had become a debate. The photos were everywhere now. Cropped, enhanced, dissected. Analysts had opinions. Influencers had theories. Comment sections had verdicts. Nobody knew who I was and everyone was certain they did.I scrolled without flinching. Panic

  • Bound to the Enemy Alpha   Impossible Happenings

Chapter Thirty NineAmanda POV Luciano going to bed without me felt like he was hiding something. He didn’t need to tell me though. I knew part of him was scared that if she’s the one, she had met someone better.I stayed on the couch long after his footsteps faded down the hallway, the television still muted, the glow from the screen reflecting against the glass table in front of me. The news replayed silently, the same frozen image looping over and over. Alpha Rohan and the woman beside him. A mystery everyone suddenly cared about.I scoffed softly to myself. Ella. The thought irritated me more than I wanted to admit. There was no logical world where a man like Rohan would marry someone like her. That belief grounded me. It was a basic hierarchy. Power recognized power. Wealth married wealth. Influence aligned with influence. Rohan wasn’t just rich. He controlled transactions that shaped the city’s economy from logistics to trade routes, underground alliances, and official approval

  • Bound to the Enemy Alpha   Recognition

Chapter Thirty EightLuciano POV Dinner ended the way I liked it to end. A lovely meal over a quiet, comfortable, and carefully prepared table.Amanda and I had settled into the living room afterward, the plates cleared, the lights dimmed just enough to soften the edges of the night. She had tucked herself against my side on the couch, legs drawn up, her head resting lightly against my shoulder as if that space had always belonged to her. The television played in the background, a low murmur of voices and graphics that neither of us was paying much attention to.It should have stayed that way. I reached for the remote, half watching, half not, when the screen shifted from some meaningless segment to a breaking news banner. The anchor’s tone changed first. Sharper. More alert. That was always the giveaway.Amanda stiffened slightly against me. Then the image appeared.Alpha Rohan. There was no mistaking him. Even in a still photograph, even caught mid motion, his presence dominated th

  • Bound to the Enemy Alpha   Higher Powers

Chapter Thirty SevenElla POV By the time evening settled into the palace, I had managed exactly three bites of food. The tray sat on the small dining table in my room, steam long gone, appetite even further. My body was present, but my mind was still outside the palace walls, replaying headlines, comments, pauses in conversations, the way power shifted without warning.I was lifting my glass when my phone rang. Ria. I answered immediately.“I found him,” she said, skipping every unnecessary preface. My spine straightened. “Where.”“A café on the west end. Quiet place. He’s alone.”“When.”“Now,” she replied. “Before anyone else does.”I glanced at the untouched plate, then at the clock. “Send me the location. I’ll come.”“You haven’t eaten.”“I can eat later,” I said. “This can’t wait.”She hesitated only briefly before sending the address. I grabbed my coat, ignored the food entirely, and left without alerting anyone. There was no entourage or guards. Tonight required invisibility,

  • Bound to the Enemy Alpha   Finding the Culprit

Chapter Thirty SixElla POVThe air outside the palace was always different from the inside walls. It was like it had its own opinions.Ria and I had claimed one of the discreet meeting points just beyond the eastern wing, a spot shielded by tall hedges and old stone pillars that had seen far too many secrets to care about one more. Multiple screens glowed between us. Tablets, phones, a laptop balanced on a marble bench. The quiet buzz of technology clashed with the ancient stillness of the grounds. My face was everywhere. It was not fully clear and not fully hidden either. A curve of my jaw. The fall of my hair. The unmistakable silhouette of Rohan beside me, even when his face was blurred just enough to fuel speculation rather than certainty. The posts multiplied faster than I could scroll. Ria exhaled slowly, the kind of breath someone took when they already knew the conclusion but still had to walk another person toward it. “This is past containment,” she said. “Analysts are alrea
