Chapter 16

"Chant, stop." The words were a low growl, ripped from deep in his chest. His jaw was clenched, the muscles working furiously as if he were fighting a physical battle with himself. From where I was kneeling, a flicker of something—a mix of awe and contempt—curled my lips. "Are you sure you don't like this?" My voice was as cool as a stone, edged with a casual cruelty I didn't know I possessed.

He didn't meet my eyes as he reached down to help me to my feet. "Yes, I'm sure." A sudden, hot rush of shame flooded me. I hadn't expected him to refuse. I had miscalculated. He guided me to a large rock and sat me down. I watched, silent and mortified, as he brushed the sand that clung to my skin. Afterward, he settled beside me, but the distance he put between us was a chasm. "Ask what you want to know," he began, his gaze fixed on the beautiful ocean, its surface a sheet of liquid crystal under the moon's reflection.

"Who was it that ruined my sister?" My question was a shard of glass, direct

I was so sure I could finally get out of here. But those two—they really found a way to stop me. In the end, it only made things harder for me to leave, lalo na’t they did everything para maging top contender kami."Ano ba ang problema niyo!?" I hurled my jacket at them, leaving only my floral dress. It felt like I was shedding a persona, but they were just so persistent."I should be the one asking you that! What the hell are you doing, Chant!?" Travis shot back, his voice a low growl that filled the silence in the kitchen. "Alam mong may allergy ang customer sa mani, pero nilagyan mo pa rin ng peanut! If I hadn't been there, something terrible could have happened to her!""He's right, Chant." Gabriel's voice was calmer, but the disappointment was clear in his tone."Do your fucking job, Chant. Baka nakakalimutan mong chef ka!" Travis’s words were sharp as a blade. He stood before me, his eyes burning with a fiery frustration that was both fright

I thought I would be able to leave this place, but it seems it's going to take longer. In every round, our team is either in second place or in first. Of all the teams here, ours is the only one that remains completely intact. It was Sunday. This was the only day we were free from the cameras. They were on us 24/7. I couldn't even find a moment to water my bok choy. Of course, every success had to have a corresponding reward, especially after two tough weeks on the island. I couldn't believe we had already been here for two weeks. I was truly impressed by the strategies my fellow chefs had come up with that we could use off-camera.I was happily walking on the sand, holding a pineapple juice. It had been a long time since I got drunk on pineapple, and tonight, I was going to use it to my advantage. After all, what's the point of a "fuck buddy" if you're not going to use them later, right? As I walked, I passed Travis, who was drinking a margarita by himself. I wanted to avoid him. He w

Today was our first and, hopefully, last day on the island. The management had changed the entire show; the planned three-month run was cut down to two, which was very good news. The only bad news was the two people with me. We were supposed to be a team of three, but Gab insisted on tagging along. The two of them seemed inseparable, and I saw them together everywhere."Charith Gunawardena," I read the name of my customer. There was nothing else written there, not his age or even his nationality."Did you know that 'Charith' means 'character' or 'conduct'? And 'Gunawardena' means 'one who increases in virtue'. 'Guna' means virtue, and 'wardena' means 'flourishing' or 'increasing'. So when you combine those two words, it means 'one who increases in virtue'," Gabriel said, offering a sudden piece of trivia."It's a beautiful name," our fellow chef agreed."You know so much, don't you?" I said to Gabriel."Not really, I just read that when I was eight years old.""Your memory is sharp, hu

I can't believe I had to be at this stupid show. Today was the day they would introduce the other special participants. I had thought they'd introduced everyone yesterday. I suddenly felt nervous, thinking they might put the actress's fans on the island just to attack me.Goodness, I hope they calm down. Every day, I'm already dealing with my boss, who stares at me as if he wants to throw me off this private plane we're on.The show wasn't going to be held in the Philippines. It would be held somewhere on a Maldivian island. Not only that, but once we landed, we wouldn't be allowed to use our phones. That's what worried me about my sister. Although I had sent enough bodyguards and money to watch over her and provide for her needs while I was gone, it was still different not being able to talk to your sibling, especially since they have no one else but me. I just hoped Mom wouldn't bother her anymore."That's your second sigh." My boss handed me a glass of wine. I can't believe they sti

Every day with him was like fireworks exploding from the inside out. To be honest, it wasn't easy to accommodate his length. My head would spin, and my core would ache with pleasure every time I moved. Even breathing felt like a struggle I had to pay for with my life. I had a fever the next day and almost ended up in the hospital the night I woke up, but with the help of lubricates and his long, slim fingers, he became the remedy to all the complaints my body was making. It was insane; 'rest' didn't seem to be in his vocabulary. Was his desire really that intense for him to go at it so relentlessly?I bathed myself, as I still had work to do and had to clean myself of Gabriel's presence. I went to his closet to look for something to wear. I grimaced when I noticed all his clothes were in just three colors: gray, black, and white. I shook my head and pulled a white polo from the neatly arranged pile. I looked in the mirror, wondering how I would cover the marks he had left on my skin. T
