21. Misunderstandings

“Aiv. We … It’s nothing, honey. We were just discussing some stuff. It’s not that important.” mom said and diverted her gaze outside the window.

“Mom, if I’m not mistaken, I definitely heard you take my name. And mom, I also heard you tell Kevin not to tell me anything. Wouldn't it be better if you tell me now so I wouldn’t have to find out later?”

“It’s nothing like that, Aiv. We will tell you when the time’s correct. But you shouldn’t know of it now. You may get in danger.” Kevin huffed from beside me. He was holding something in his hand, but I couldn’t see it, since his hands are so big it could hide anything that’s placed in his palms.

“I agree with him, dear. It’s not the time yet. Let’s end our discussion here.” mom said, leaning against the window and folding her arms across her chest. My mom, she’d always been so assertive. Once she made a decision, we must stick by it.
