Chapter 113 Because We're Environmentalists

Author: Day Torres
"This isn't over, Alexandra! I swear you're never going to forget this day!" Albert screamed in desperation as yet another punch landed squarely on his face.

Alexandra calmly adjusted herself in her wheelchair, watching with serene patience as the five human titans took turns quite literally smashing her ex-husband's face in. Eventually, one of them walked over and gently placed four of Albert's upper teeth into her hand.

"Would you like the bottom ones too, ma'am?" the bodyguard asked with such polite sweetness, it was almost adorable.

Alexandra looked at Albert. His nose was mangled and bleeding, his mouth a grotesque mess. His face was barely recognizable—since they hadn't always aimed perfectly for the teeth, she was pretty sure she'd heard the crack of his cheekbone. But the rest of his disgusting body was untouched. He wouldn't die—he'd just be hideous from now on.

"No, this is enough. Now, boys, throw the trash in the bin—we're environmentalists, after all. Then let's go

He snapped out of his thoughts to listen as she read through all his appointments for the day—until she got to the last one and saw him pull a face. "What's wrong?" she asked, looking at the names again. "Is there a problem with the Wolf siblings?" "Sort of. Cassian and Caroline Wolf are our competition in Eastern Euridia," he said, thoughtful, arms crossed. "You know this is a logistics company—we move goods around the world. And for that, you need three important things: good ships, good routes, and good ports." Maxine paid close attention—if there was one thing she was good at, it was learning. "Recently, the Wolf siblings won the bid for the port of Brinmouth in West Albaryn. They don't even need it—they're pulling out. But for me, it's the perfect gateway to the Albaryn Passage, and they took it from me." "So?" Maxine asked, curious. "So... I called them to negotiate. Caroline Wolf has a weakness I might be able to exploit, but I need them to give me that port, or a bunc

And the worst part was… she was staring at the ceiling! The damn woman was staring at the ceiling like none of it had anything to do with her!She wore a white silk three-quarter sleeve blouse that disappeared under her breasts into a super high-waisted wine-red pencil skirt… though in her case, it was more like a cello-cut skirt! Liam had never seen her in such tight clothes. He'd forgotten she had the waist of a starving model and full hips. Not a single inch of skin was showing anything indecent… and yet she was pure, walking indecency! "Max, go wait for me in my office!" "But… Mr. Harrington, the meeting's not over," she said in a sweet, innocent tone that pushed him even further over the edge. "Yes, Mr. Harrington…" added one of the executives. "The meeting isn't finished." "Well, it's gonna end badly if you all don't stop staring at my assistant. This is a boardroom, and I don't need it to be flooded with more drool than a snail parade!" Liam roared. "Max! Office! Now!

She notified Garrett that she was ready, and an hour later all the equipment she had requested arrived. "Oh, and Mr. Harrington, I'll also be starting tomorrow as your son's assistant, so I'm going to need some special clothes." "How special?" "The kind that'll keep Liam from wanting to leave the office," she replied. "Noted," the man said, and Maxine set to work on the house. Installing surveillance cameras, motion sensors, and a silent alarm system wasn't difficult for someone with her training, but it definitely took time. She worked late into the night, also setting up weapons racks and stashing the guns in hidden spots where they'd be within reach but invisible to Liam. Finally, by four in the morning, the small mansion had been transformed into a fortress she could defend on her own if needed. Not to mention the specialized panic room. Maxine activated all the alarms and felt as safe as she ever had in a wartime trench. Over time, she had learned that the feeling ne

Maxine smiled as she looked at that sweat-slicked, naked body. Someone could have been seriously hurt in that chase—but no, here he was, with a dumb grin on his face, completely oblivious. "I think this could help us keep the fire burning…" Liam chuckled, clearly satisfied. Maxine trailed her fingertips lightly across his chest, tickling him, and smiled. "Fire? A little more of that and we'll be starting a forest fire." They dressed slowly and lingered, staring at each other for a moment. "Listen…" Maxine began, but Liam lifted a hand to cut her off. "No, let me talk first," he said quietly, holding her gaze. "I can't do this: live like a married man, introduce you to my friends, host family dinners… that's not me. We can have all the sex in the world, as long as you understand it's never going to be more than sex." Maxine clenched her jaw and swallowed hard, shaking her head slightly. "I'm not saying this to be cruel," Liam went on. "In fact, I'm saying it because I li

Liam didn't have time to answer before their mouths crashed together again, this time with more passion, more hunger. His hands roamed down her back until they cupped her ass, pulling her tighter against his erection. Their bodies were fused, and it was impossible to ignore the brutal physical attraction sparking between them. Maxine sighed against his lips and traced the tip of her tongue along his jaw before tilting her head back and licking her lips, as if she knew exactly what Liam was thinking. "You're a hard man to resist," she whispered low and provocatively. "And we're still on our honeymoon." She dragged him across the street to the parking lot, shoved him into her car, and slid behind the wheel before he even had a chance to protest. "How about we go have a little fun, hubby?" The tires screeched as she floored it. But if Liam thought she was driving wild for kicks, her sharp eyes—locked on the traffic and the SUV suddenly tailing them—told a different story. She sw

Liam turned to look at her, eyes wide. It was clear he was on the verge of exploding. "Stay out of this," he snapped, and she raised an eyebrow. "Yes, stay out of this," the girl whimpered, and Max's blood boiled. "I've seen scenes that would turn anyone's stomach, but a woman literally crying at a man's feet is the worst of them all. Get up already! He's not even that good in bed!" Maxine snarled at the girl, who looked at her like she was insane. Liam pressed his lips together and tried to help the girl up. "Leave it, I'll handle her myself," he growled, but froze when Maxine pulled out a chair, sat down across from them, and crossed her legs. "What are you doing?" "Watching how you handle it," she replied coolly. The girl sobbed a little more, but Liam yanked her to her feet. "Max, this is Izzy, my ex-assistant," he muttered awkwardly. "Don't worry about her, she'll leave." "No, I won't! How could you do this to me?" Izzy shouted, stamping her foot like a spoiled
