Amber’s POV
"Pumpkin, you don't have to be like them. Trust me, focus on your studies, okay?" My father advised, his words filled with concern. I nodded in agreement, and the rest of the dinner proceeded in silence.
"I will head to bed now," I announced, stretching my tired muscles.
"Alright, go get some rest, darling. You need to wake up early tomorrow. Remember, early to bed, early to rise," my father reminded me, giving me a wink.
"Bye, guys," I said, waving them goodbye before climbing upstairs. With each step, exhaustion weighed heavily on my shoulders. I entered my room and took a refreshing cold bath.
Dressed in my red pajamas, I jumped onto the soft bed and picked up my phone. I dialed my best friend Bella’s number, yearning for some familiar comfort. She was my brother's mate, and when we were banished, she couldn’t come with us because of her parents.
"Hello, Bell, are you there?" I muttered.
"Hi, girl! I was eagerly waiting for your call. What is your new pack like? Have you met any handsome hunk, or perhaps met your mate?" Bella's voice oozed excitement.
"Girl, stop it. I just arrived here, but as for the pack, I don’t know, it’s…quiet and peaceful, although I haven't explored much yet," I replied, trying to contain my nerves.
"I wish I had also been admitted to King's College; I would have loved to be with you, and my parents don’t give a damn that Daniel is my mate. I just have to become independent and come join you guys there," Bella expressed thoughtfully.
"I wish you were here too. It's frightening to face this new school and environment alone," I sighed.
"Have you gotten your uniform? I heard it’s that kind of college that wears a uniform?" Bella inquired eagerly.
"Yeah, Daniel brought it yesterday, it’s very fancy and a fit for the elite. Through the skirt is a bit shorter than I’d prefer," I commented with a hint of sarcasm.
"You have to wear it, you have no other choice, but damn, imagine being surrounded by handsome guys from wealthy families. That's the life, girl!" Bella exclaimed with excitement.
"Oh, so you are still obsessed with guys from privileged backgrounds? Why am I not surprised? I am just grateful you haven’t rejected my brother yet," I teased her.
"Of course! They are so dreamy and charming, and as for your brother, I love him, and he gives me this peace and love that no amount of money can," Bella giggled.
"Geez, don’t make me puke. You know I hate hearing about your relationship with my brother. I have to go now. I need some beauty sleep. Talk to you tomorrow," I yawned.
"Alright, girl. Love you!" Bella beamed and blew kisses through the phone.
"Love you too," I reciprocated the affection, blowing kisses before ending the call.
My eyes wandered to the nightstand, and I placed my phone on it. I nestled under the covers, letting sleep embrace me.
The next day arrived almost too quickly. After freshening up and slipping on the dark blue and white uniform, I hurried downstairs, joining my mother at the dining table, and soon Daniel joined us with a smile on his face, and I could tell he was up to something.
"Look who is excited for her first day of school," he teased, unable to contain his joy.
"I know what you are up to, but don't mind him, honey," Mom reassured me, and I mustered a forced smile while nibbling on my toast bread.
Finishing my meal, I kissed my mother on the cheek. However, my departure was interrupted by her request.
"Honey, wait. Let your brother take you to school," my mother suggested.
"Is he going to hold my hand and walk me there, considering Dad has already left with the car?" I replied, raising an eyebrow.
"He just wants to see you off, that's all," she explained.
"I will pass," I asserted, swiftly walking out of the house.
I hailed a taxi and hopped in, staring out the window as the taxi driver drove through the streets of the unfamiliar pack. It was completely different from my pack, with almost all the houses being mansions and large trees at the front of every house.
The car eventually stopped in front of a grand school building, painted in pristine white and blue, just like the uniform, with "King's" inscribed at the top.
Numerous white teenagers strolled into the school grounds, some even arriving in their fancy cars. As I exited the taxi, clutching my backpack tightly, I couldn't help but notice the curious gazes of the other students. I was the only odd one among them—a dark-skinned Omega from the Woodland pack, one of the enemies of this pack.
Their eyes examined me, and whispers of disgust floated in the air. They hated me for my rank and my appearance, making me feel unworthy and unattractive. The remarks that once targeted my race were now replaced with disgust for my Omega status.
"What's this ugly Omega doing in our school?" one student whispered audibly.
"I heard they have started admitting Omegas, it’s illegal. The Alpha might not even know about it," another added.
"I can't believe they are letting a low-class bimbo like her attend our school. She doesn't belong here, this place is for only elites like us," a snarky voice echoed.
The weight of their judgment bore down on me as I walked through the grand gates of the school. The sea of white faces made me feel even more out of place. The school bell rang, signaling the forthcoming start of classes.
Uncertain of where the science department was located, I swallowed my pride and approached a white she-wolf, her beauty radiating from her glowing skin.
"What do you want?!" she inquired, her tone polite yet shaded with curiosity.
"Could you please tell me where I can find the science department?" I inquired, hoping for a small act of kindness in this overwhelming environment.
Author’s POV "Where am I?" Mason asked bluntly, his voice rough, carrying the natural authority of an Alpha. "You are in the extra room in our club. Your friend put you here last night," the bartender explained. His eyes widened in surprise, as if the words had slipped out against his will. "Friend? Who are you talking about?" Mason questioned, resting one hand on the doorframe. "I remember coming here with my girlfriend, where is she?" The bartender shifted back automatically, intimidated by the weight of Mason’s gaze and the Alpha aura that pressed on him like an invisible hand. "Um, I-I can't disclose the name of the person due to club policies, but it's just a well-wisher; that's all I can say," the bartender stammered before running away to avoid further questioning. Mason’s wolf growled inside his chest. "He is lying to us. Whoever put us in here did something nasty to us while we were asleep. I can feel it." His jaw tightened as he walked out of the hotel room, his
Author’s POV Nate yanked the omega away from Alpha Mason, his claws half-exposed in annoyance. “What the fuck is your problem?” the girl demanded, tugging her hand free from his grip, her eyes flashing yellow. “Go away, slut,” Nate snapped, his voice carrying a small roar that made her whimper. “Asshole,” she cursed, turning on her heel and storming off. Nate’s gaze drifted back to Alpha Mason, who was walking on air and clearly drunk, staggering unsteadily as he pushed himself up from the chair. The Alpha’s usually intimidating stance was gone. His legs wobbled, his alpha aura dancing in and out. Nate smirked and moved to steady him. Mason opened his tired eyes and glared at him. “Let go of me, man,” Mason mumbled, his voice inaudible, even as Nate held his waist to keep him from falling. “You are drunk. I will take you home,” Nate offered, his tone deceptively calm. “Let me go, you are gay. I don’t trust you,” Mason mumbled again, shoving him away. He staggered f
Author’s POV “Stop talking about that nincompoop. I am here with you,” he declared, his voice cracking ever so slightly. His hand slid around her tiny waist, pulling her flush against his chest, the warmth of his body piercing into her. Amber’s pulse pounded in her ears, her cheeks heating until they flushed red under her warm brown skin. “Kiss me,” Alpha Xavier murmured, his tone so low it was almost a growl meant only for her ears. Amber’s eyes widened, stunned. “Stop, what has gotten into you? We are outside, in public,” she whined, though Raven tried to take over. Xavier had never acted this forward before, not even during their months of relationship. “I don’t care,” he replied, his alpha aura escaping into his tone. Before she could push him away, his lips closed the distance, brushing against hers in a featherlight kiss that made her chest tighten. She felt the faint scrape of his fang against her lower lip before his tongue pressed for entry. An electric shiver
Author’s POV Amber glanced at her roommate, her yellowish-brown eyes catching the tender sparkle of moonlight through the dorm window. “Do you have dinner plans?” she inquired. “Yes, I am going out with my boyfriend,” Linda replied, tucking a strand of dark hair behind her ear. Amber sighed and rose from the bed. “I will have to find a good restaurant to eat alone then,” she muttered, hiding the hurt in her voice. “Oh, I almost forgot. I have a letter for you.” Linda reached into the inner pocket of her jeans, pulling out a folded note. She handed it over, and Amber snatched it with a speed only a she-wolf could manage. A smile curled across her rosy lips before she even opened it. Daniel often sent her letters to remind her that he was still in her life, still her protective big brother. She broke the seal, expecting his name, but instead found a short message in bold handwriting: "Meet me outside at 8:00 p.m." No name. No signature. Amber’s brows furrowed as she lift
Author's POV Amber’s voice was hush but firm as she pressed a hand to her chest. “Yes, I do, more than ever. I just need to look for a way to escape from his clutches. I am not an object, I am an able-bodied she-wolf, not a pawn in his twisted games.” Raven howled inside her at the mention of “Clutches,” seething at the idea of being owned. "We don't belong to anyone, especially that alpha asshole, who doesn't give a damn about anyone and just wants to satisfy his sexual urges." Raven commented with a growl. “Who said you are an object?” Nate questioned, arching a perfect brow. “No one did, but that’s the way Alpha Mason is treating me,” Amber mumbled. “I just need my parents to get the property papers for our house, and then I can be free from him.” Nate’s frown deepened, one hand unconsciously stroking his chin as though calculating a strategy. “What does your house have to do with Mason?” Amber’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Um, he has the authority to make my pare
Author’s POV The sharp smell of the chemical still stung her nose, making her eyes water. "Brownie, are you okay?" Xavier asked again, stepping closer. His forest green eyes scanned her over, concern engraved on his face. Amber’s arms were wrapped tightly around herself, the fear and shock getting the better of her. "Don't touch her. You guys need to go wash this chemical off your coat and hair," the teacher remarked. Amber didn’t hesitate. She rushed to Mason’s side, her fingers wrapping around his warm, strong hand. His aura was safe and grounding, though she hated to admit it. "Let's go," she commented, though deep down, she wished she could have taken Xavier’s hand instead. Xavier’s heartbeat jacked up in his chest as he watched her lead Mason out of the laboratory. The feeling of being ignored by the love of his life and mate hit him like a punch to the ribs. "What are you waiting for? Go!" the teacher barked, giving Xavier’s shoulder a shove. Amber escorted Mas
