“did you go to school at all? Why can’t you fucking comprehend that this is not a joking matter? Stop trying to know me because I don’t want to fucking know you.” he bluntly said, his breath was like fire.

Lily’s hopes crushed instantly and her chest tightened. Tears were gathering in her eyes but she was quick to blink the tears away. She wasn’t going to cry, to humiliate herself once more.

“Okay” she said quietly. “I’m sorry for pestering you” she began as she stared at Fernandez “I won’t do that ever again and I’m sorry for damaging your windscreen, I’ll find a way to pay you back.” she said and smiled, a bittersweet smile. She didn’t know how she was going to payback, but she would pay back.

“don’t worry about it” Fernandez said, his anger slowly dissipated. Lily didn’t say a word. Her smile faded and her face became unreadable. She just left, not wasting another second.

She didn’t go to her shift at the coffee shop anymore because it was already late and the issues she faced few moments ago. She still couldn’t believe that Fernandez shouted at her and insulted her. but honestly, she didn’t blame him, she blamed herself. Maybe if she had stopped pursuing him or stop pressing him, she wouldn’t have received the insult.

She was also upset that his words got to her, she had never been so mad about people’s words against her, so why was she mad?

She swallowed hard, trying to hold in tears. She could’ve taken his mixed signals as a no. she could’ve listened to him when he said no. why did she choose him of all guys out there?

When she got home, she took her shower but couldn’t eat. She didn’t have the appetite to eat at all, even though the food was delicious. If she forced herself to eat, it’d be like forcing stone down her throat, so she stayed on her bed. Her face was up, facing the ceiling as tears dripped down silently.

“I’m not doing that ever again” she said, after recounting how her day went. While she was sulking, her phone vibrated. She lazily sat up to reach her phone. When she finally grabbed her phone, a call came in.

“hello?” Lily answered, her voice a bit hoarse.

“baby girl, what’s wrong?” Diana asked, concerned of the shift in her best friend’s voice.

“nothing, I just woke up from sleep” Lily said as she lazily rubbed her eye with her left hand.

“should I call back?” Diana asked

“no, it’s fine, you can talk” lily said.

“baby girl, I’ve been invited to a party and I need a plus one and since I don’t have anyone except you, would you do me the honors of being my plus one?” Diana asked doing the puppy eyes even though Lily wasn’t presently with her.

“I don’t have any dress suitable for any party” Lily dryly said

“I’ll take care of it”

After a while of silence from Lily she responded “Fine” Diana squealed, “when is the party?”

“tomorrow by 4pm”

“Okay” Lily silently said but it was loud enough for Diana to hear. Diana squealed out of excitement when Lily accepted it. Diana ended the call and Lily was left with the silence in her room and the stone in her throat.

Lily’s face was stained with dry tears and her chest still hurt her. the pain was like a knife was in her chest. She quietly lay back on her bed, reminiscing on what happened earlier.

Lily didn’t want to go for any Party, it wasn’t that she hated parties, she just didn’t have time to attend parties, because she had to work to earn money so she could survive. The reasons why she said yes to Diana are the facts that Diana is her best-friend and because she needed to take her mind off of Fernandez.

Mr. Fernandez demeanor became cold the moment he heard her. he came closer to her, looked at her deeply into her eyes, with an emotion Lily couldn’t decipher. “so you can compensate me for my damaged car?”“that is part of it. I don’t have the money to pay, and I really don’t want to live a life of debt”“what if I say, I forgive you, and you don’t have to pay a single dime? would you leave me alone?”Lily was taken aback but she knew it was a what if situation. Could he be testing her resolve? She tried to decipher something, any single emotion in his eyes, to see if he was serious but she couldn’t get anything. It hurt her that he might have meant what he said, what she didn’t understand was why he was resisting her so much.“if you forgive me, I’d be so grateful, but that won’t stop me from wanting to know you.” this time, she didn’t falter and insisted on what she wanted. The man was speechless. Under those void eyes, Fernandez was genuinely intrigued. Asides Lily, he had never se

At first, his gaze softened but quickly turned cold, which made Lily not to notice it. he slowly looked away from Lily and walked to his car, where the damage was made. He softly sighed and folded his arms. He wore a black polo and black trousers, and he was absolutely stunning. His black outfit and the black rolls Royce made his fair skin stand out in a very handsome way. He was out of this world that anyone would think of him as someone who existed in another dimension. His features were beyond the average human features.Lily didn’t put any makeup on and her low hair bum became messy. Why do people you don’t expect to see come out when you look rough?“Uhm…, M-m-mr” she stuttered, her throat ran dry. Lily said she saw him on her way home last night, but she left out the rejection part and the daring thing she did.“he’s really really handsome. He should be a business man; I wonder what kind of business he’s into though.”“wow, I really want to know who this guy is because in all my years of knowing you, this is the first time you’re saying a guy is handsome, might I add the really really handsome part?”“serious?”“are you for real? Lily still couldn’t understand what kind of spirit possessed her to do what she did earlier when everything replayed in her head. Was she that desperate? She never thought of doing that, she always imagined that it’ll be a guy that would make the first move. how she got the bravery she didn’t know, what shocked her more was when she sacrificed herself like a sacrificial lamb to him.“Then let me burn!” she winced, her face tightened at the memory of what happened earlier.
