CHAPTER 6

LiLily saved the number on her phone as Mr. Fernandez. She wanted to call the number but she didn't have an iota of what to say. Should she shamelessly ask for where he resides? How would she even introduce herself knowing fully well he might not remember her. Would he be the one to answer the call? That would be awkward but then how would she meet him?

‎    Before she knew it, Lily drifted to sleep without achieving her goal for the night. In the end she didn't call the number

‎    The next morning, Lily woke up early as usual. After eating breakfast she went to work.

‎    she spent a pleasant morning at the Library. Due to the fact that most of her co workers weren't around because of the library program they were hosting, Lily had an ample amount of time to read without any disturbance. She felt recharged and fulfilled. Perhaps getting consumed in the world of books brought her immense joy and fulfilment.

‎     When she left the library, Lily boarded a taxi and headed to her next job. She wanted to go home and rest but she figured it'd be great to work so she could forget Mr. Fernandez, mystifying, outrageously handsome face. On the contrary, she couldn't stop thinking about him despite being occupied the whole day.

‎     There were two routes to go to the coffee shop where she worked at, the long route and the short route. She had been taking the short route for a very long time and so she told the driver to go with the long route for a change. Unfortunately, there was a severe traffic jam, one that moved once in every twelve minutes.

‎      "Why today of all days" Lily frustratingly muttered as she pinched the skin between her eyebrows. The Comfortability she enjoyed in the car couldn't stop her rising impatience.

‎      After thirty minutes, she was ten minutes away from the coffee shop. The jam was still not moving so she paid the driver and strolled to the coffee shop.

‎      She entered a new street, brought out her phone and dialled Mr. Fernandez number. She contemplated before tapping the call option. Wat would she say? How would he react? She shook her head and looked up.

‎      she saw a stray dog in the middle of the road and ahead was a moving car. In a bid to chase the dog away from the road, she removed her shoe and threw it, but the dog left the road before her shoe hit it.

‎     "shit" she said as she panicked about what was going to happen. Everything played in slow motion as she saw her shoe flying in the air, going to a direction that it wasn't supposed to go. The illusion of slow motion got destroyed the moment she heard the sound of shattered glass.

‎     The car that got hit by the shoe screeched towards the right by the roadside. Lily was too stunned to move, her eyes were widened while she breathed deeply. Her heart was racing and she felt her hands trembling. She forced herself to move. What came first in her mind were the people in the car. Her heart pounded in nervousness as she walked towards the car.

‎       As she approached the car, the car door opened. A man around his sixties came out and he didn't seem to be hurt. He wore a black suit which made him look like one of those butlers in movies.

‎      "Are you hurt? Gosh, I'm so sorry... I was trying to scare away the dog from the road and this happened" Lily was panicking as she apologized. She knew this was a problem

‎      The old man sighed and creased his eyebrows seeing the damaged windscreen. Somehow, Lily's nerves calmed down upon seeing that the old man seemed unbothered. She then followed his line of sight and as soon as she saw what kind of car it was, her jaw dropped and her eyes nearly came out of its sockets.

‎      The windscreen of the car she damaged was a beautiful black and gold rolls Royce.

‎      Lily felt like her blood was drained out of her. Where on earth would she get money to pay for a car like this? Her life savings wouldn't even reach quarter of the payment. Wat was a car like that doing in this kind of place? Why here? Why now?

‎      Without answering her, the man brought out his phone and called someone.

‎     " Sir, you might want to come out and see this" He said and in less than five minutes, Lily heard subtle footsteps from her back. The strong smell of wood and citrus danced around her nostrils and a familiar presence engulfed her core.

‎      "Sir what are we going to do about this? The damage done to the screen is very much obvious " The old man said.

‎      Lily turned back to apologize to the man the old man addressed as sir. "I'm really so...." Lily trailed off and her breath was taken away when she saw the man

‎     "F..er...nandez?" Lily said still utterly shocked. What was he doing here?
