CHAPTER 37: HIS ATTITUDE

REAH'S POV 

I stayed alone in the room, my eyes empty and my mind almost shattered. I looked at my belly and I suddenly felt disgusted. I couldn't believe what had happened to me. Why I had decided to fall in love with someone like Alpha Xavier. 

I looked at the ground, the same spot where Jessie took her last breath. My eyes became blurry with tears and I wiped it off with the back of my hand. My throat felt dry but the thought of standing up to drink water made me very sick. 

That place, that spot where Jessie died would always remind me of her for the rest of my life and I knew there was nothing I could do about it. 

My head was aching badly and my temperature was very high. I stepped down from the bed, walking toward the table where the nutrients were arranged and I knelt in front of it. 

With tears in my eyes, I picked the nutrients and started taking them. If I wanted to live, If I wanted to stay alive to continue taking care of my mother, I needed to keep the pregnancy too. 

Not having Luna Bella around, the insecurities in my heart increased tenfold and after what happened tonight, the fear increased one thousandfold!

I took the nutrients and sat on the ground. I shivered slightly, feeling very weak and sick. I closed my eyes and held my forehead, the headache was getting to me. 

"Fire! There's fire!" 

A memory flashed in my head and before I knew it, my vision turned dark...

A while later, I opened my eyes and saw myself sleeping on the ground. I rubbed my face and looked around but there was no one in the room. 

I stood up from the ground, the headache had subsided but the empty feeling only increased. 

I removed my shirt and skirt, removed my bra and took off my panty before walking toward the bathroom like a dead soul. I was like a walking corpse, unable to think about anything. 

I walked into the bathtub and sat in it. I slipped into the water, letting it cover my face and I closed my eyes. 

"Mum..." The word came out of my mouth without thinking and sadness overwhelmed my heart. 

I clenched my chest as I raised my head from the water. I opened my mouth, breathing hard with my hands pressed on my chest. My eyes must have been red at the moment...

My hair fell on my face, the silver colour looking like white due to my blurry gaze. "Mum," I called again as tears rolled down my eyes. 

"What do I do? I think I've lost it, Mum. The confidence you instilled in me, What you told me about this world, I think I've lost all the knowledge, Mum. I'm scared, I'm confused, I feel so sad, what do I do? What am I supposed to do at a time like this, Mum!" I cried bitterly, wailing without any care. 

My body felt heavy and the only way to release the overwhelming sadness was to vent. I didn't want to bother Joyce with my marriage issue, especially after what I saw today. Alpha Xavier might decide to kill her and there would be nothing I would be able to do about it. 

I cried bitterly for hours in the water before I stood up and decided to leave the water when the cold was already getting to me. 

I wore the bathroom robe and left the bathroom with my hair dripping with water. 

I picked up the hair dryer, drying my hair as I forced the tears that threatened to fall back. I did not want to cry anymore. The fear of losing my pregnancy made me want to lose my mind but I knew I mustn't cry anymore. 

Keeping the child was because I loved my child but right now, it was more because my life depended on it and I wasn't ready to lose my life. I knew I was being selfish, I knew people would curse me out if they happened to learn about my thoughts at the moment but there was no choice for me. 

I was a helpless person, a poor girl who had a best friend, a brother and a mother to protect. A silly girl who had given her heart to a demon. 

I dragged my feet toward the bed after I had dried my hair and lay in it. I didn't even bother to remove the bathrobe before I closed my eyes and decided to sleep but I wasn't able to. 

Jessie's face wouldn't stop playing in my head. 

About an hour later, The door opened and Alpha Xavier came in. He entered the bathroom without saying a word to me. 

He came back with only a towel on his waist after a few minutes and dried his hair too. He changed into Nightwear and lay in bed too. "Get up," He ordered. 

I didn't even let him finish his word before I quickly jumped up and sat up in bed. "Satisfy you?" I asked, trying my best to hide my fear. 

"Get some clothes inside the closet and sleep on the floor. From now on, we won't sleep in the same bed anymore," He said as if it was something casual. 

I didn't mind though. Sleeping in the same bed with him was already too much for him after what happened earlier so hearing that he wanted me to sleep on the ground, I quickly agreed with him, stood up and rushed toward the closet. 

I brought out some duvet which I placed on the floor and slept on. I used another one to cover my body and closed my eyes. 

None of us said a word to each other as we slept for the night. 

Waking up the next morning, He was no longer in bed and as usual, he was done preparing for work. I quickly stood up, packed and returned the things I used for the night. 

I entered the bathroom after that and had a quick bath. I was faster than usual today, my mind was still very empty and it felt like I had lost a part of me somewhere. 

I stood by the bed and let out a deep breath "I'm done," I told Alpha Xavier, who was working away on his laptop. 

Hearing that, he dropped the laptop and stood up. "Come in," He said and left the room. 

I followed after him and we went downstairs together. 

Soon, the Beta came over and bowed to us. "You are ready?" He asked Alpha Xavier.

"Not yet. Call all the maids for me," He ordered. 

The Beta seemed confused but he didn't say anything as he left. 

Alpha Xavier walked toward the dining, he looked at the food arranged on the table and looked away. It was as if they were irritating him. 

He patiently waited for the maids. I had no time to think about why he needed the maids but I wasn't very concerned either. The last thing I wanted at the moment was to do something that would annoy him and being curious about him could annoy him. 

We both waited there and after a while, the maids all started rushing out. They all looked beautiful and without doubt, I knew they were all mermaids. The maid that told me she would be the one attending to me the first day I entered the house was among too and when she saw me, she bowed her head even more. 

I had wanted to ask about her when I didn't see her again after that day but after everything that had happened, it was the last thing on my mind. 

I watched as the maids all came out and to my surprise, they numbered in hundreds!

They all arranged themselves in a composed manner and had their heads bowed. 

The beta came out after them and walked forward. "They are all here, Alpha," He whispered. 

Alpha Xavier nodded. "All of you, aside from the ones that prepare the baths, will be taken to the other Castle," He started, confusing everyone. "From now henceforth, You all will work in the other Castle and will only return when my mother comes back. Is that clear?"

"Yes, Alpha!" 

The maids all chorused. 

"Get your bags ready. The buses will come to take you all in thirty minutes," He added and the maids replied again. 

They all bowed their heads before leaving for their rooms. I watched them leave before I returned my gaze to Alpha Xavier...

"Alpha, who would be doing all the work at home?" The Beta asked. I could tell he was very confused. 

Alpha Xavier pocketed his hands and looked at me "From now on, it's your duty to clean the house, prepare the meals and also make the bed. You should go into that kitchen, and prepare my breakfast before coming to the office." He muttered gently. 

It was like he already knew I wouldn't object. 

"Also, make sure to continue taking those nutrients because nothing must happen to my child or else, I will kill you!" 

The last phrase rang in my head repeatedly and I swallowed hard. I could feel my head aching again and I felt sick. 

I nodded my head "I understand," I replied, looking at his face with no obvious expression on my face. 

He nodded and turned around to leave, not saying a word to me. Only after he left did I breathe in relief.
