CHAPTER 39: BREAKFAST

REAH'S POV 

"I do not remember," I replied sincerely. 

The Beta frowned "How is that possible? It was a very big incident and as the person that orchestrated the whole thing, you should have remembered. There's no way you can forget such a thing," He replied and my heart ached. 

Could it be true? 

I shook my head "Something happened more than 14 years ago that made me lose my memories. I was in a coma for about a year and when I opened my eyes, I had forgotten everything about my childhood. I don't even know who my father is. I only know about my mother," I explained to him.

"More than 14 years ago? Could it be a coincidence?" He seemed confused but after that, he said no more. 

He soon parked in front of the company and came out of the car. He opened the door for me "We are here, Luna," He replied. 

I nodded my head and came down from the car. I was very concerned about the things he told me but there was no way to verify them. I thought about the father I knew nothing about and what my mother told me about running away. Could it be that my father was manipulating me to hurt people and my mother decided to run away with me?

There must have been a reason behind her not mentioning anything about my father while I was growing up and she said it that day when she suddenly opened her eyes. 

Thinking about it, my mother's condition wasn't so terrible that she would lose consciousness for years before. The day I met her lying on the ground, unconscious after coming from school, she still prepared my breakfast before I left for school, we still chatted and she looked strong. Could her sudden collapse have anything to do with my father?

The first person who paid for her hospital bill back then that I had no idea about, could it be my father too?

Everything was getting more confusing and it made my head ache. 

"Luna?" 

I heard Beta's call and I raised my eyes only to realize that I was still sitting in the car. 

"Oh, I'm sorry!" I said and stepped out of the car. "If you don't mind, what's your name, please?" Referring to him as just Beta all the time sounded weird. 

"I'm Mathew," He replied and I smiled. "Also, I want to tell you that you shouldn't feel too bad about Jessie's death. If anything, you should be grateful that she did not cost you the life of your baby and again, Jessie is a very vicious woman who could have killed you if she wasn't killed. She was very obsessed with Alpha Xavier and would do anything to make sure he was hers. Knowing that you are his Luna, she would kill you a thousand times no matter how hard you plead with her," He explained. 

He was right.

I could have lost my baby yesterday or even my life if Alpha Xavier hadn't rushed me to the hospital in seconds. Thinking about that, the emptiness in my chest faded away and I was able to breathe properly again. 

I let out a deep breath and a small smile formed on my face, I felt better. The sadness also decreased significantly. It was like my body and soul had been waiting for someone to tell me that for a while~

"Thanks," I said sincerely and smiled at him, momentarily stunning him. After that, I collected the Lunch box from him and went into the company. 

Getting to my office, I realized Fryster wasn't there yet so I went toward Alpha Xavier's office. I knocked on the door...

"Come in," He said from inside. 

I opened the door and entered. I saw Alpha Xavier making a call again but he ended it the moment he saw me. 

I walked over to him and dropped the food on his table "This is your breakfast," I told him. 

"Has the maids all left?" 

He didn't even bother to look at the food on the table as he asked. 

I nodded "Yes, they've left. Only the ones you asked to stay are still at home. The ones that prepare the bath," I reported. 

"Good. Get out," 

I bowed slightly and walked out of his office. 

Getting out, Fryster was already there and he waved at me when he saw me. 

I sat on my seat after greeting him with a bow "How was your business trip yesterday?" I decided to start a conversation, at least he noticed my mood. 

Fryster smiled, he closed the file he was holding and picked another one "I just returned this morning. It was great," He replied. 

"That's great then. What was it about though?" 

"It's a contract. We bidded for the contract with other 20 companies but we won. It was a very fruitful journey and I had some fun too," He explained and I smiled. 

He closed the file again and returned it to its position before he turned to face me. "You, Tell me about yesterday. I know you must have missed me," He teased and I laughed. 

"You are right. I indeed missed you!" I replied, still laughing. "Yesterday was..." I paused when I remembered the things that happened yesterday. "Jessie came here and gave me a wine to give Alpha Xavier. I later handed it over to him and that was all," I explained to him. 

Fryster's expression changed after hearing that and his hand on the desk clenched into a fist "If I was here yesterday, I could have killed her. How dare she use you that way? She knows very well that Alpha Xavier  doesn't receive things from people and she knows given his attitude, he wouldn't wait for you to tell him who brought it. She planned everything out and trapped you, probably because she already knew I wouldn't be around. That bitch!" Fryster cursed. 

I was surprised, "He doesn't receive things from strangers?" I totally had no idea!

"He doesn't. Alpha Xavier is almost an introvert. He hates getting involved with people and he would never eat anything from strangers. He doesn't even eat in restaurants, he doesn't eat the meals prepared by the maids working for him either. His mother has always been the one cooking his meal. He is someone like that and everyone knows that," Frsyter told me more and I covered my mouth. 

"Why am I the only one that doesn't know about this?" I asked, a bit annoyed. 

If I had known that, I could have prevented everything that happened yesterday and dealt with Jessie myself!

Fryster frowned "Are you not done with the second book I gave you? It's there," He took the book and opened it. 

He seemed to have memorized everything inside the book because he just opened the page directly without even trying to check anything. He placed the book in front of me and pointed to a line that talked about Alpha Xavier not collecting things from people. 

I closed my eyes and sucked in a deep breath. To think that it was the page I was reading before the incident happened yesterday... If I had given just a minute longer, I would have read it and avoided it all! 

Hey, wait! 

Alpha Xavier asked me to prepare his breakfast, could it be that he trusted me enough to eat my food or he just did it to annoy me?

I picked up a file from the desk and stood up "This needs to be signed on, right?" I asked him and he nodded. "I will go give him then," 

I entered Alpha Xavier's office and walked toward his desk, I dropped the file on it and bowed "This needs your signature, Sir," I said while looking at the plates in front of him which all looked empty. 

I was confused and curious, so I picked up the lunchbox to check if he had eaten or not while pretending to help him clean his desk. 

Opening the lunch box, I realized he finished all the food and I inwardly gasped. I glanced at him and when I saw that he wasn't looking at me, I smiled sweetly. 

Knowing he ate the food and even finished it made me very proud. I could remember he would only eat a little and sit there, pressing his phone whenever we ate together before. He must have loved my cooking!

I had no idea why that made me happy so much but I couldn't stop the happiness either. 

"Take it," He said after signing the file and I picked it up. 

I walked out of the office with an excited smile on my face and the moment I stepped out, I met a man talking to Fryster. 

The man turned around and our eyes met. His mouth opened slightly and he looked dazed for a few seconds. 

His legs moved toward me and he stood in front of me, Sparks flashing in his eyes as he took me in. 

"I'm Louis. Alpha Xavier's best friend and Gamma" He introduced himself, stretching forth his hand. 

I looked at the hand and cleared my throat. Wanting to get my voice back after getting so excited inside "I'm Reah, Alpha Xavier's... Secretary," I replied and instead of taking his hand, I stepped back a little and bowed to him.
