CHAPTER 40: FIRST LOVE

LOUIS'S POV 

"Is Alpha Xavier inside?" I asked Fryster, who surprisingly was the one sitting in the Secretary's seat. 

He had always been beside Alpha Xavier as he was his most trusted assistant at work. 

Fryster stood up and bowed "Gamma Louis. It's nice seeing you again," He greeted. "Alpha Xavier is in his office. You can go see him," He said and I nodded. 

They need not report to Alpha Xavier when it had to do with me because everyone believed that I was his best friend and that was the pure truth!

I pocketed my hands and turned around to walk toward the office only to see a fairy standing by the door. 

At first, I thought I was seeing things and I found it hard to believe my eyes because why else would someone so beautiful exist?

Her silver hair was flowing with the air and her bright Hazel eyes seemed to contain all the peace of the world. I walked toward her in a daze only to be more shocked when I found out she was human!

Her scent was that of a human but her beauty was that of a fairy. The only missing parts were her wings but then, her beauty could make up for that. 

"I'm Louis, Alpha Xavier's best friend and Gamma," I introduced myself in a daze and stretched my hand to greet her. 

She cleared her throat and took a step back "I'm Reah, Alpha Xavier's Secretary," And she bowed!

My heart was struck! Not only was she bewitching, but her voice was beautiful too!

She raised her head and flashed a professional smile which took me to the heavens "It's nice seeing you, Gamma Louis," She said and I nodded. 

"It's nice seeing you too. Did you just resume here today?" I asked. 

"No. I've been here for more than a month already," She was patient and kind. There was no arrogance of an unparalleled beauty on her at all as she replied to me. 

She bowed one more time and walked past me, returning to her seat. I watched her drop a file on Fryster's desk before she went to sit down. 

Seeing that Fryster was the one sitting beside her, I walked toward them and cleared my throat. With my eyes, I directed Fryster away from her side and had my seat there. 

"I hope you don't mind me sitting here for a while or do you?" I asked her. 

She shook her head, there was no change in her expression at all as she smiled "You are free to do so," She replied and picked up a book to start reading. "I have to read though. I'm still in my training month," She explained. 

I nodded my head, understanding her. "Hope you are not finding the work tiring? You can let me know and I will persuade Alpha to hire another Secretary to help you. Don't worry, it won't affect your pay at all!" I decided to offer a hand, hoping she would grab it. 

Reah looked at my face and a more sincere smile formed on her face. She looked extremely dashing and every action of hers seemed to take my breath away. "That won't be necessary. There's not much work for me to do and Alpha Xavier is very considerate too," She replied and I smiled back. 

"If that's the case, I won't disturb your reading then. I want to see Alpha Xavier. Will see you when I'm done," I told her and she nodded. 

I walked away from her, gently hitting Fryster on the shoulder before I walked into Alpha Xavier's office. 

He raised his eyes from his laptop when he saw me and a small smile formed on his handsome face which made me a little guilty. If there was anyone who could be compared to the beauty outside, then it would be my best friend, Alpha Xavier. "You are finally back. I thought you would spend a little more months there," He mocked. 

I rolled my eyes and pulled a seat, sitting down "Forget about that for now, I just found my first love!" I informed him. 

Xavier frowned "You? First love?" He sneered. "How could a playboy like you fall in love?"

I suddenly felt wronged. I only like girls, I was never a playboy but then again, I sincerely love Reah!

"It's different this time, buddy. I found the lady and I fell in love at first sight. It's miraculous!" I said, holding my chest. 

Xavier scoffed and pushed away his laptop "I wish you the best of luck with your first love then. Maybe you will be able to experience your first heartbreak," His words sounded like a curse to my ears and I clenched my fist, wishing I could punch him!

"Tell me about the case you went to solve," He immediately changed the conversation. 

I felt very unhappy but I held it in and decided to report to him first. "I met Alpha Magnus. The issue at the Shadow Pack is solved already. He seems to hate you as usual and his tongue kept moving about how he could have beat you to a stupor if not for the restrictions," I explained and chuckled. "He makes me wonder if he can even beat you at all,"

Alpha Magnus, the Alpha of the Shadow Pack was Xavier's s mortal enemy. They've been enemies from when they were very young and no one knew who was stronger between the two. Alpha Magnus was about ten years older than Alpha Xavier and they've fought two times in the past but no one knew the outcome. 

"We signed the treaty and the war won't happen," I replied. 

Due to the humans in each Alpha's kingdom, they couldn't go all out and had only duelled twice. Both Alphas would hate to drag down the humans and because of that, the war had always been suspended. 

"That's okay," Xavier replied. 

I nodded my head and crossed my arms "How about we meet at a bar tonight? I've missed drinking with you," I suddenly suggested but Alpha Xavier just returned to his work without even sparing me another glance...

Either way, I knew he was going to come with me!
