CHAPTER 45: BIRTHDAY PARTY

REAH'S POV 

The day flew faster than expected and before I knew it, it was already Gabriel's birthday!

It was a Saturday party, so there was no work hindrance and due to the nutrients I'd been taking, The doctors confirmed that my baby was very strong already.

They even told me to stop as too much of everything was worse than not taking it at all. 

Alpha Xavier had traveled since yesterday for a business trip with Fryster which made me very happy. I did not even bother to tell him about the birthday party because he would only come on Monday ~

I had arrived at Gabriel's place an hour ago, waiting for Gabriel who had gone to his office to pick up some things he forgot yesterday. 

Joyce and I already prepared everything. The birthday party, according to Gabriel should be very small with an attendance of not more than twenty guests. 

He wasn't planning to have too many guests so we decided to have the party in his house instead of renting a hall for just less than twenty guests. 

"We are done," Joyce said excitedly as she sat beside me and together, we waited for the birthday boy. 

Not long after, we heard the arrival of the car and we both stood up "Remember the plan?" She asked.

"100%!" I replied and we winked at each other. 

The door slowly opened and Gabriel walked in. Seeing him, I beamed at him and started dancing, surprising Gabriel. 

Joyce played music while I danced to it, whining and turning, using the skills I had learnt when I was still in school and was in the dancing crew. 

Gabriel stood by the door, his face showing his surprise and excitement as he watched me. His pair of black pants and white shirt with a few loose buttons gave him a bad boy look coupled with the beautiful smile on his face made him look extremely eye-catching. 

He moved slowly and closed the door, seeing that, I moved toward him and took his hands "Can I be granted the honour of dancing with your honourable self, birthday boy?" I asked, my eyes staring straight into his. 

Gabriel seemed to freeze for a few seconds but his smile soon widened and he smiled expectedly "Of course," He replied and together, we started dancing. 

Just like that, a welcome that should have been done with cake and a birthday song was being done with a beautiful dance. 

After about thirty minutes of dancing, guests started coming in and we had to stop. The guests were mainly Joyce's friends, former sexmates and Gabriel's friends. 

There were about 10 in total and including us, we weren't more than 13 but we were more than enough. 

It was late at night already so the party had to start without any hesitation and everyone was ready to party. 

The girls that Joyce brought were just as wild as she was and they didn't shy away from dancing with the men in the room. It was lively and fun, everyone was drinking and dancing. 

I watched these all while sitting on a couch with a cup of non-alcoholic wine in hand. Though my womb was now strong enough to protect my baby, I was still warned against alcohol. 

I watched as Joyce rocked some guy in the room and I couldn't help but laugh. I looked at Gabriel who was dancing alone at the side, he had slipped away from every girl who tried to dance with him which confused me somehow but it was his party and he had the right to refuse to dance with anyone. 

Gabriel looked at me and our eyes met. He winked at me and walked closer, his cheeks were red and it was obvious he was getting drunk. He sat beside me and chuckled "Why is the most beautiful woman in the room sitting alone here? Why didn't you come to the dance floor? I've been waiting for you for a while already," He lamented as he dropped the bottle he was holding and drank from the cup that was on the table. 

I looked at him and smiled "I feel too lazy to do that," Drunk Gabriel was very cute and I felt the urge to pinch his cheeks but refrained from doing that. 

He hiccuped and shook his head "I really want to dance with you, Reah. I really want to make you mine," He closed his eyes as he relaxed on the couch. "I've liked you for a long time. It was love at first sight for me. I wanted to confess to you back then but thinking about your situation, I decided not to be a distraction while also scared that you might walk out of my life If I confessed to you. I wanted to be by your side and help you, I wanted to do everything for you without making you feel burdened. I hesitated till now, thinking a day would come when you would realize my feelings for you," He grabbed the bottle and drank more before closing his eyes again. 

"Then, that day in the hospital, you confessed to us that you are married and you are even pregnant. At first, I was very angry at you and hated you for making me so miserable but after thinking about how excited you looked while talking about your marriage, I decided to give myself two options and in the end, I was only able to choose your happiness," He smiled bitterly and opened his eyes. 

He moved closer to me and looked into my eyes "I love you so much, Reah, and I sincerely want you to be mine but more than that, I also want you to be happy even when you are with another man. I'm pathetic, right?

I was so shocked by his confession that I wasn't even able to breathe properly. I just stared at Gabriel with unblinking eyes until he moved forward and I felt something soft touch my lips. 

Wait, what? Was he kissing me?

I was yet to comprehend what was going on when someone grabbed my hand and pulled me up. Turning around, my eyes widened and my lips quivered "Alpha... Alpha Xavier?"
