CHAPTER 44: SHOPPING WITH JOYCE

REAH'S POV 

"You don't like the food here?" I was so surprised. Then, why did he eat with me earlier?

Fryster seemed to notice my confusion as he smiled "It was your first day here and you might feel lonely eating alone. I decided to join you but the truth was that it was my first time eating here then," He explained and my eyes widened. 

He had his hands in his pocket as he looked at my face with a small smile on his face. His tender look moved my heart and looking back into his eyes, all I saw was his concern and care. 

"Thanks, Fryster," I said sincerely. I felt grateful to him. 

Fryster's smile widened as he nodded and waved at me "You should quickly leave. Alpha already delayed you for an hour," He suggested, walking forward while I walked beside him. 

"You're right. I will be back soonest so you won't have to face his wrath for me," I joked and Fryster smiled. 

His eyes wandered to Joyce who was standing not far away from us and he immediately looked away as if he wasn't pleased seeing her. 

Seeing that, I opened my mouth to talk on Joyce's behalf but was quickly interrupted by Fryster's phone ringing. "It's Alpha. I will see you later, Reah," He patted my shoulder lightly before he rushed away. 

I watched him leave and sighed "Fryster is such a sweet person," I mumbled and walked toward Joyce whose gaze had followed Fryster who was rushing off. 

"Babe~" Joyce called as she grabbed my shoulders "Forget what I said earlier. That guy surely has a crush on you!" She said excitedly and I frowned. 

"Don't get too excited, girlie. I'm married, you know?" I removed her hands from my shoulders and dragged her away "We have less than an hour. Where are we going first?" I questioned. 

"Grocery shopping," She replied. 

We drove down to the shop in her car and when we got there, we immediately started buying things. After that, she showed me the list of everything she needed and together, we started getting them. 

Not long after we started, my phone started ringing and when I checked, it was Gamma Louis!

I stared at the phone for a while and refused to answer it. I needed to make sure Alpha Xavier wouldn't suspect me of going out with him at all. 

We continued getting things and soon, my phone started ringing again. I felt a little annoyed and even had the urge to curse, thinking it was Gamma Louis again. Bringing out the phone, I realized it was Luna Bella and my eyes widened. 

I hastily answered the call and placed it on my ears "Baby!" Her cheerful voice rang over the phone and my eyes lit up. 

I smiled brightly, taking a step away from Joyce who was busily selecting things due to the little time we had. 

"Mum, How have you been?" I had never been able to reach her since she left as she had to switch off her phone and focus on treatment. 

I guess it was Alpha Xavier's way of making sure I would never be able to report him to his mother. 

"It's been tedious, my darling. The doctors left for an appointment a few minutes ago so I quickly bribed the nurses and asked for my phone to call you. I need to return it in the next 5 minutes," She explained and my heart melted. 

"I've missed you so much, Mum," This was the truth. I missed her a lot. 

"I miss you so much too, Reah. How's the Castle and everyone else?" She asked. 

I covered my mouth and chuckled "Alpha Xavier is alright," It was her way of asking about her son without being direct. 

"Huh? I did not mean him though but it's alright that he's okay. Send the list of the things you need here to me and I will get them when I'm coming back," 

"Really? I will do that immediately after this call," I replied happily.

"Where are you?"

The conversation continued for a while until the five minutes was almost over. "I should end the call now so you can use the remaining minute to send the things you need," She said with some hesitation. 

It was hard to part from each other after not talking or seeing for a while~~

I ended the call and sent her the list of the things I needed after which I called her to confirm. We talked for a few minutes more, probably she bribed the nurses more or she begged them but we spent more than 10 minutes on the phone before we decided to put an end to it for the day.

"You are finally done with your mother-in-law," Joyce said as she threw a few snacks at me. 

I grabbed it and started mooching on it. I hadn't touched the lunch Fryster got for me and was planning to eat it when I'm back in the office as it would only waste time now. 

We continued shopping together while Joyce told me about her new fuckmate who had an averagely handsome face but a very big dick and was able to fuck her well. 

"How's Gabriel though?" I finally managed to ask after she was done talking. 

Joyce looked at me and her eyes flashed for a second before she shrugged "I don't know, really. He's been acting somehow for a few days already. It's like he's thinking or he's bothered about something. I tried to ask him about it but he wouldn't tell me," She explained. 

My eyes dimmed and I felt troubled "Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?" I asked worriedly. Gabriel was never like that ~

"I wanted to," Joyce lowered her eyes as she replied "But when I thought about your position these days, I felt like I shouldn't disturb you. You can talk to him on his birthday. I'm sure he will be able to open up to you," Joyce suggested.
