CHAPTER 02: DANGEROUS?

"What happened to your hand?"

"Nothing, Mom. A kitten bit me."

Evelyn had just returned with her father who had taken her to the clinic before knowing the cause of the injury.

"Did the kitten....... What were you doing with the kitten?"

"He had jumped over the wall so I caught him."

This happened to her for the first time. Otherwise, the animals always liked her very much.

"Don't worry, Mom. I am fine."

She sat on the couch holding the plate and said.

"Today your aunt is coming with her children, do you remember?"

When she started pouring water for her, Evelyn remembered that she had promised to take care of her aunt's children so that she and her mother could go to the market in peace.

Oh no....

Her appetite had died.

"Finish your meal. You've lost a lot of weight."

After some time her aunt was there with her two sons and the rest of the day was spent in keeping things out of their reach.

.......

'What did you do after me yesterday?"

Ava started asking after seeing her sitting in the car.

"Nothing. Just practice. What else was there to do?"

"You are very boring."

When Evelyn couldn't find any answer, she limited herself to Ava by simply teasing her.

She had to practice three days a week and on the remaining days she could go back with Ava.

As soon as both of them entered the psychology class, her eyes began to search for that person without knowing why.

He was sitting with his full attention towards the laptop.

Evelyn also turned her eyes away.

He was undoubtedly a handsome man, but she came here to study, not to see him.

Her dream was to become the best athlete and she got the full support of her mother and father. She sat down in her place with Ava and soon Miss Olivia started teaching them.

Evelyn's condition was becoming increasingly strange as if someone was staring at her continuously.

She turned back slowly but the man was busy with his work. She then straightened up again believing it to be a figment of her imagination, but that sensation lingered all the time.

After a few minutes, she turned her eyes and started looking at Sebastian again, but his attention was not towards Evelyn.

"Is it not like that I have got some disease from that cat?" She was chewing her lip while thinking.

Today was her second day of training.

The ground was wet from the rain. And everyone started getting cold due to which the coach let them go early.

But her father used to come at his own time.

She also went to the front building with a cold sigh.

Some lockers were provided in the girls common room due to their coach. So that they can keep their belongings there.

Fortunately, she also got a locker because she was one of the best racer in her team.

Her bag was in the same locker and she started to open it with the key.

When she turned to go back, her eyes fell on something.

There was a folded paper with a red rose.

At first she did not see it, maybe she ignored it.

Shrugging her shoulders, she opened the folded paper.

"Your captivating scent enchants me."

Evelyn started looking at the paper but nothing else was written on it.

Perhaps a boy had tried to write a love letter to someone. She laughed at the thought of it and threw the paper into the dustbin.

But that rose was very beautiful. A delicate bud that had not yet fully opened.

Evelyn picked it up and began to smell it, then put it in her bag in such a way that the bud was outside the bag while its stem was inside the bag.

There was still enough time for her father to come, so she started walking towards the main gate.

...........

"You both know that man? There is something wrong with him."

The girl in her class started saying something in such a way that both of them could not stay without being attracted.

"Which man?"

Evelyn frowned her eyebrows and started looking around.

"Hey crazy, she is talking about that psychology guy. His name is Sebastian. Right?"

Ava wanted to support her statement, on which the girl started nodding her head sadly.

"Why? What happened to him?"

Evelyn did not feel anything strange in Sebastian, except for that blood-licking thing.

"He studied in the same college, at that time my brother was also studying in the same class with him, so he told me."

"What did your brother say?" Now Evelyn was also getting curious.

"That he was always aloof and never talked to anyone."

"So what's wrong with that?"

Evelyn and Ava started looking at each other's faces.

"You know he lived alone in a place like a palace. Everyone says he is crazy."

"Why does he live alone?"

"I don't know. I didn't ask that."

"But he was the smartest boy in the college. Apart from this, he played chess at the national level a few years ago."

"Really? Then he is a genius."

"Yes, but he lost in the semi-final. My brother said that he is a very dangerous person. Anyone who tries to mess with him disappears somewhere."

Evelyn's eyes widened at this. She didn't think he could be dangerous.

"Believe me, you both should stay away from him like everyone else."

Ava was still listening to her words carefully while Evelyn let out a tired sigh.

"He is a nice person. He also told me to be careful."

She didn't know why she felt bad hearing all this about him.

.............

On that day and the next day as well, she kept coming back with Ava.

It was saturday and most of the students were absent.

Ava also betrayed her and she came alone.

She was getting bored when suddenly someone called her.

"Hey!"

When she turned towards the sound, she saw that Sebastian was walking towards her with a book in his hand.

"Is this yours? It fell there."

Evelyn started checking her bag and it was indeed her book.

"How did it fall?" She was caught in thought.

When Sebastian waved the book in front of her, she held it.

"Thank you."

She said, tucking her hair behind her ear.

She was remembering everything that was said in the class.

"Is he aware of what is being said about him?" She started thinking while looking at him.

"How is your hand now?"

"My hand?"

At first she was confused, then suddenly she remembered and put her hand in front of him.

"Now it's fine, only a slight mark is left."

"Okay, I'm going, take care."

He turned away while she kept thinking why someone would spread so many wrong news about him.

............

Like every day, Ava and Evelyn were going to their next class while talking.

Evelyn's eyes fell on Sebastian who was standing in the garden.

He was talking to a graduate student. The displeasure was clearly visible on his face and that student was just shaking his head nervously.

"Ava, you go, I have some important work to do."

"Which work? I am also coming with you."

"No.... you go. I will come in five minutes."

She pushed her a little and turned herself around, so Ava walked away with a frown.

That student had gone somewhere and now he was standing alone.

"Umm....Hello"

Evelyn could not understand why she came to him and now she was thinking of an excuse.

"I did not understand yesterday's lecture. Will you help me?"

He was silently watching her facial expressions, it was obvious that she was lying.

"Don't you have a class right now?"

"Yes, but.....

She was thinking of what to say when he spoke.

"It's very noisy here. Come with me."

He ordered her and walked away and Evelyn started walking behind him.

Perhaps the mystery of his personality attracted her.

Or maybe she wanted to prove everyone wrong. She wanted to show them that he is not a dangerous person.

Sebastian brought her under a tree on one side of the buildings and then sat there.

Evelyn also sat in front of him.

She felt strange being alone in this place, but she shook off her feelings and started taking out her book.

"Are you doing M.Phil?"

She began asking when the silence irked her.

He looked at her with his beautiful but cold eyes and said.

"Yes."

"How long will your project be completed? Why do you need to come here for this project?"

She wanted to know what kind of project it was.....actually she wanted to know everything about him.

Instead of answering her question, he said.

"You know curiosity is natural but it is a very dangerous disease."

"No, I'm just.....

"You have opened the wrong page of your book."

When Evelyn looked at the book in her lap, it was not yesterday's lecture.

Sebastian was looking at her face then how did he know.

She started turning the pages again when Sebastian's phone broke the silence.

"I have some work to do. I will explain to you later."

Evelyn gave him a scrunched-nosed glance as he got to his feet and walked away.

"You are a very rude person, which is why you don't have any friends."

She immediately began packing her bag while thinking of Sebastian.
