JADEN

The room was too quiet.

For the first time in my life, I was sharing the same space with my brothers—not just for passing, not just to satisfy an obligatory conversation—but really being in the same place, and this forced them to coexist.

The suite in the wing was connected, grand, and almost choking. The very moment I stepped inside, I felt that there was little or no chance of getting out of this. Immediately Jackson took the opportunity as if that space belonged to him: lying around on that huge velvet couch and putting his feet on the table. Jermaine stood before the window, gazing at the sprawling treetops beyond the window, carrying a different tone outside. He was deep in thought.

Me? I was standing against the door, crossing my arms, waiting for the awkwardness to finally settle in.

"You're sulking," Jackson said, not looking at me as a smirk pulled at his lips. "I thought you would have gotten it all out of your system by now."

"Shut up."

Jackson merely chuckled, undete

THALINDRA"What exactly are you all even afraid of? , make a declaration that Hailey is henceforth no longer the Queen of all and I, Thalindra of the Fae realm, am now Queen of all species."An unusual silence falls in the meeting chamber as all the Elders and kingdom representatives sit in calmness while deliberating; Destroyer; Audacus and Aretha Rod had called in a lot of favours and Rod and Facilities and promised a lote to get me here this day, and I must act fast before the Queen becomes fully aware of this coup. Another wizard stands and addresses me; they simply refuse to learn their place. "Thalindra, you shouldn't drag us into your foolishness; this is considered treason if we get caught, and it's straight to the slaughters. My clan and I have no interest in the gifts you offer, and we'd rather be exempted from this arrangement." He stands and walks towards the exit, but before he could step out, "Desmidrum, accuche abolisia"..... He screams in agony as he is burnt to a cris

LOGANYou can't hear a bird make a sound after she finishes stinging because we're all equally in shock... Is there anything at this point that she isn't capable of doing?I finally close my mouth after she exits the place of burial before facing Ryan. "Like...did you know she could sing this well?"He shakes his head negatively. "I had absolutely no idea, but let's get real; I haven't exactly been mate of the year, you know, so every time she does things like this, I am reminded that I don't really know the mother of my kids at all."Jaden scoffs, "At least I understand better why every powerful male species wants her badly... Let's be real: if she weren't my mother, I'd want her too, yet you keep messing up on all fronts."I find Hailey in the war room, staring at the map while holding chess pieces without her veil; even with her bare face and the level of power she embodies, she looks effortlessly young and innocent. Turtela laughs, "Enough, Jaden; we're adults now. Forgive the ol

AARON Smack! We are stare in shock as we watch the Queen hit an elder; what she's done I have no idea but we all curiously stare as we watch her being escorted out of the ceremony by guards. The whole time we've all been on edge, grief has taken its complete roots in us all and presently I am so exhausted. The day of Isaiah's burial arrived with a sky weighed down by clouds, heavy and unmoving, as if the heavens themselves mourned with us. I stood at the edge of the courtyard, arms crossed tightly over my chest, trying to keep from trembling. The wind carried no song or brightness today. Only the silence of grief. Everyone was dressed in shades of black and grey. The Queen, Hailey, wore a flowing black gown that whispered across the stone like smoke, a veil hiding her expression, though I could still see the pain in the set of her shoulders. She hadn’t said much since my father fell. Not to me, her mate, her friend or even her kids. I could only imagine what she was feeling—he w

  • CLAIMING HAILEY    CHAPTER 246: THE SUMMONING

HAILEYThe silence of the council chamber was stretched on like a lowly gravesite. Every breath I took echoed in the vaulted walls, bouncing off the stone like whispers of the dead. My fingers, hidden beneath layers of silk and lace, clenched tightly around the black veil that shrouded my face. Mourning has continuously taken its toll on me, and truly I didn't have it in me to fake pleasantries or keep up unnecessary pretentious appearances since I'd rather be locked up alone in my room with no one around me, but alas, being a queen has no room for private mournings. But this? This summoning? This was mockery wrapped in diplomacy in the hands of manipulative individuals itching to have their own selfish way.The Council of Elders sat before me like immovable statues, ancient and trembling in their self-importance. Their eyes flickered between my veil, my silence, and the towering figures behind me.Ryan stood at my right, his arms folded across his chest. Fury rolled off him in silent

ISAIAH I woke with a strange heaviness in my chest. For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. Not because of any wound or illness, but because something in the world had shifted. Something dark had breached the veil of peace, and though it has been a roller coaster of emotions, I know that something has breached the territory. Hailey had put me to rest, whispered soft assurances that I needed for sleep to come, and assured me that I'd done enough and this wasn't my fault. But as I sat up, her voice still lingering in my memory, I knew that I had more to do. The castle walls were shaking. The smell of death clung to every corner of the castle, and I knew for a fact that someone was dying today, but I had no idea who the person was going to be, and so I made my way in stealth mode to observe the situation before concluding on my next line of action. A low rumble carried through the air, like thunder echoing off a mountain."No..."I hasten my footsteps with more urgency, the weight of premoni

  • CLAIMING HAILEY    CHAPTER 244: REJECTION

ISAIAH The moon hung low, its silver light washing the courtyard in a glow that felt too peaceful for the war stirring in my soul. I leaned against the pillar of the east tower, watching as the wind stirred the trees while the seas flowed and swayed in peace. My mind had been heavy for days now. Lilith’s energy clung to me like a stormcloud, oppressive and wrong. I felt her again just hours ago. Her pleasure. Her wicked joy. Not with me. Never with me. For the sake of the death of her child, she chose to ignore wrong and right, engaging in debauchery, constantly punishing me for not forsaken Hailey, for not siding with Serenia despite the fact that she was the one in the wrong and so she sort the father of her child out and planned for revenge. And I could no longer lie to myself. "Isaiah." Her voice slithered into my awareness before her form did. She appeared behind me, her dark beauty draped in silks that clung to her like shadows. I didn’t turn immediately. "You’re fi
