Chapter 5
EDWARD'S POV
THE NEXT DAY
"Go ahead and knock; we need to see how our mate is fairing," Stark whined in my head nonstop.
He was eager to see Caliana again after what happened last night, and we were both drawn to our hurting mate.
I crazily spent half the night in her arms; she didn't notice though, and I was really careful not to raise an alarm. Thanks to stark, all he wanted was to be super close to her.
He made my life a living hell until I accepted and sneaked into her room for 4 hours straight. It was hard leaving her all by herself, but I had to do it. It would be better if she noticed my scent rather than find me wrapping my hands around her.
My fist paused halfway, not touching her door. I couldn't do it; I lacked the confidence.
"Some other time, Stark, there's a lot of work to do." I reversed and left for the elevator.
"You wasted the opportunity." Edward, if she means nothing to you, let it be clear that she means a lot to me. Stop hurting our mate." Stark howled, angered by my actions.
"Quit playing dumb. Stark, you knew that after what occurred those past years, I wasn't the same again. I will appreciate it if we stop talking about Caliana. She's just the Luna of this pack and nothing else.
The elevator door opened, and I stepped out. I had a meeting with Michael about our pack alliance.
Unfortunately, the Crescent Moon pack had formed a strong alliance with the Golden Stone pack. It was made on forceful terms, as both packs had one common enemy.
Dean Kali, Alpha of the Night Shadow Pack, has been in on us for years, but thankfully, after we joined forces with Michael's pack, the attacks stopped. I know it's not forever; that's why I am trying to extend my territory.
I got to the meeting hall and found Michael in a secluded corner, conversing with a lady who I very much recognised by her scent.
"Meyers!!! I thundered, causing her to flinch. I took fast strides towards them and came in between.
"Alpha Edward!" She bowed her head.
Meyers looked frightened to see me; she bowed, refusing to stare at me. I had warned every pack member about Michael, and I didn't care if they thought I was being paranoid. The truth is, I just hate this man, and he feels more like a threat than a partner to me.
"Leave!" I said icily.
Meyers scurried off like she was being chased, and I rechanneled back to Michael, who had a smirk on his face. I guess the punch last night didn't make a change.
"Stay away from my pack members; you have no business with anyone except me. You come here for me and no one else," I growled, closing the distance between us.
"Yes, your majesty." His tone held sarcasm, and I almost bit my lips out of annoyance. I took deep breaths and took my seat, resting my hands on the large wooden table.
CALIANA'S POV
The morning sun blared in my room, disrupting my sleep. I yawned while stretching on my bed. My eyes drifted to the digital clock, and a minute past eight, she stared right back at me.
Juanita didn't come; she was usually in my room by this time. My head ached, and it reminded me of what Edward did to me.
I knew Alexa had already healed me, but the morning headache was mood-souring.
I sniffed, clearing my nose blockage, and perceived the enchanting scent of citrus. It lingered everywhere. I sniffed my nightie, and it was there too. This meant Edward came by my room last night, but when?
My lips subconsciously stretched into a smile, and I grew instant happiness, but it didn't last as memories of last night flashed into my head. Edward's possessiveness made me cringe. It didn't leave a good feeling knowing he did that because of the mate bond.
Juanita and Cassy came in minutes later, apologising for coming late. I took no offence and got ready for the day.
I stepped out in a red peplum dress and black heels and let down my long brown hair. As Luna, casual wear was no longer for me.
Juanita and Cassy left while I stayed in my room for a few minutes before stepping out. The consistent jiggling sounds of the door knob made me pause on my track.
Frightened for a minute, I walked towards Edward's door and met a tiny-looking lady twisting the doorknob repeatedly. She had plans of opening it up.
When I said the tiny-looking lady, I meant a child, but with the way she presented herself in a pink crop top, a mini white skirt and jacket, and a cute white snicker, her hair let down with a big pink bow on it. Who wouldn't mistake her for a lady?
"Hi. Urm Miss!" I waved from where I stood, and this young and bold woman turned to me with a really cute frown.
Her big green eyes reminded me of Edwards; they looked the same. She had red lips too, but she had brown hair, while Edwards was black.
"Hello. Have you seen Daddy? The doors are not opening up. I want to see him." She pouted her lips and twisted the door knob again.
Daddy? Who is her father, and why is she trying to get into Edward's room? I think she's lost.
"Okay, Amigo, who is your father?" I could help you search for him; would you like that?" I asked in the sweetest voice, and it made her smile.
"I am not Amigo, I am Love, silly." She replied, dipping her hand into her miniature purse and bringing out a phone. That sh*t looked expensive; it made me wonder whose daughter she was.
Suddenly, she placed the phone in her ear and tapped her foot on the floor impatiently.
My mouth formed a silent 'Wow'. "Daddy!!!" She squealed, fuming like an angry lion.
"I can't find you; where are you? But today is our U and I time; come take me now." She paused, listening to whatever her father was saying. The frown on her face vanished, replaced with sad eyes. She did not look happy, and I am guessing her father said something about the situation.
"You promised, and now you are breaking it. Why do you always say that? I HATE YOU!" Love snapped and threw her phone to the ground.
Her anger startled me, just like Edwards, and why she had so many similarities with him confused me.
"Hey, love, please don't cry. I am sure Daddy has a reason for not showing up. You know what? Why don't you tell me who your father is? I could talk to him. I wiped her spilling tears and pinched her cheek softly.
"Thank you, Silly, but the Alpha never really has time to talk to anyone, and now he's doing the same to me."
THE ALPHA? Edward has a daughter, and no one told me about it.
"The Alpha? Alpha Edward? You are his daughter?" I threw questions at the girl, shocked by her revelation.
"Yes, Silly, do you have the keys to his room? I want to give him a piece of my mind."
"What?"
"Keys to my dad's room; I want to wreck it."
"How old are you?" The question slipped out of my mouth. She didn't cease to amaze me with her tantrums, maturity mixed with childishness.
"Five! I know it's quite an age." She sighed and picked up her phone.
I felt bad for Love; she got all decked up for her father and daughter time, but Edward bailed on her. I was one to care about others' feelings,so I thought of something to cheer her up.
"Love, I know we just met, but will you go out with me?"
"Like a date?"
"What! No, I mean like a friend bonding date." I bit my lower lip, realising she was right. "Yes, a date."
Her smile returned, and she looked cheerful again. "Yes, let's get going." She grabbed my hand and pulled me along with her.
Edward and Jamal were out, so I was left to tell Juanita about my outing with Love. She got a car ready, and we left with the chauffeur.
Love took me to all her favourite spots: the park, a pastry shop, an ice cream cart, and the wild roller coasters. Then we sat on the bench, and I told her about myselfânot the full details, but the fact that I came from another pack to be Golden Stone's Luna.
I also enjoyed her company; she didn't say much about herself, and I wonder what Edward must have done to raise such a smart-mouthed kid. But then she said something shocking.
"If you are my Luna, then you must be the lady Daddy promised to get married to." She had said:.
I would pretty much appreciate it if you could drop a comment đ©đ©
CALIANAS POV. Her innocent words hunted me. Edward and I were getting married, and yet no one told me about it. My hands grew wet with perspiration. I couldn't go into an eternal bond with Edward, who doesn't even care about me. The sun was down when we returned. I held Love in my arms, and her eyes were shot into deep slumber. "Welcome, Luna Caliana." Juanita greeted, her head bowed, and she fiddled with her fingers at odd intervals. "Is something wrong?" I asked, handing love to the elderly woman who tagged along with Juanita. "It's AlpâŠ." Juanita paused on her track; fear engulfed her eyes as she stared behind me. I swerved and met furious green eyes staring at me. "Alpha EdâŠ." I attempted to bow but got roughly pulled instead. Edward threw me into the elevator and got in as well; the door closed, and he turned to me, still fuming. He pinned me to the wall and yelled. "Who gave you the right to take my daughter out of the pack house? UnâFuckingâGuarded. How dare you even spe
CALIANAS POV.I gritted my teeth in anger as I cupped my face into my palms. I hit my feet against the floor as the recollection of my encounter with Can Dance resurfaced. I hated her to the brim, and I was well assured the feelings were mutual.A knock was placed on the door and threw me out of whatever fancy land I was submerged in earlier."Come in," I answered as it was pushed open, startled. I jumped to my feet as my eyes darted across the room. I swallowed hard at the sight of him; his arms were crossed over each other. He didn't seem so pleased to see me, but I had avoided him for as long as I could as well. I knew I was angry at how he had spoken to me earlier on. I didn't like that he hid his daughter from me, but I felt my head hard against my chest in his sight."What brings you here, Alpha Edward?." I asked, but my voice remained low, and although my blood pressure had spiked, I kept my actions under control."Do I really have to answer that?." He asked in a curt manner. I
EDWARDS POV.Headed straight towards my room. I tried holding a clear head."Good, I was hoping to meet with you," I answered, stopping in my tracks as I faced Jamal."Get me, Candace," I ordered, and he tilted his head slightly, confused at my speech."But... she had started a fight with Caliana, but tomorrow should be your wedding." Jamal explained that he took the liberty to remind me of something I knew already."Just get me Candace.!" I yelled at him, and he shook from worry and nodded."Right away sir," Jamal answered as he turned on his feet while I headed down for my room.I took off my shirt and tossed it to the side. I did the same with my pants as I weighed myself out of them and took a long puff of fresh air. I felt suffocated all the way here; I was tired and worried.Mereekh being in such proximity with Caliana, I felt aliveâmuch more than I had ever been. I went down to have her informed about the wedding preparation, but she seemed to be upset about something else. How
CALIANAS POV."Please, I'm sorry. Let me go!" I pleaded, but nothing happened. I'm yanked by the hair as I tremble, the knife aimed at my heart."You should have known your place," she mutters to me before the knife is plunged deep into my heart as she lets out a hysterical laughter.I sat up in bed as I awoke; my eyes were open, my knees felt weak, and my whole body trembled. I wiped off the beads of sweat that formed on my head. I looked around and then to my chest. I traced my hand carefully around it, and I was rightâit was nothing but a nightmare.I rose from bed with a sigh. Something bad was about to happen. I had no reason to say or think such a thing, but I felt it deep down and into my bones. It wasn't right with me. There was no reason for a nightmare about Candace, and I made sense. Besides, she was wrong, and I was right. As much as I hated that she was with Edward, I had not said anything about that. I merely corrected her for having spoken to me in that manner with her
EDWARD'S POV "What do you mean she's missing?" I asked, my voice filled with rage. I banged my fist against the table as I stood to my feet."I'm sorry; I should not have left her to be, but I felt she required privacy; she asked us to leave, and we could not defy her orders." The more explanation they gave, the more anger I felt."You have them locked up until she is found; for all I know, she may be in danger or they may have aided her escape," I ordered as a pack guard came forward and dragged them out."And you, any news yet?" I asked; my patience was running low, and they knew it. She was right around the pack grounds, but I didn't like this. I had enemies all around, but of all days, it certainly should not be tonight."They've combed all the floors, but she is nowhere; the search has been extended out towards the main grounds; she must be somewhere here; they had noticed she wasn't in her room on time; she'll be found soon," Jamal explained.Devastated and worried, I ran my ha
CALIANAS POV"You have always acted like you were too smart; you always placed yourself at the centre of everything mad decisions that were too rash, and now this is what it all comes down to." I trembled as he spoke; the words sounded like they were distant; his voice was deeper and his eyes were darker; it wasn't him anymore; it was his wolf."I'll get Jamal," I answered. My words betrayed me, as I sounded like a broken record. He pulled me by the arm and pinned me against his body. I bit on my lip as his claws elongated. I was in deep sh*t; I knew it.The full moon wasn't at its peak yet; it was no time for him to turn. I didn't know why he was acting rather strange."Edward, you are scaring me," I said as I tried to have myself detached from him. He let out a feral growl that caused my body to shock from fear. He held on to his head and screamed, this time in his human voice. He fell to the floor and rolled about; his bones twisted and broke, making a cracking sound as I stood sti
CALIANAâs POV"caliana!, caliana!!! Caliana, wake up!" A voice called as a hand shook at me. I sat up once more, and I started listening to this orb; it was Jamal.I felt an ache in my heart, something that made me really miss home. I looked around, and there I was, still in the room of the gold-tone pack, still in my nightmare.I looked down at my arm, and the bandage was still there. I winced in pain as it stung, and I felt the need to scratch it as hard as I could."Common now, we don't want to be a problem, do we?" he asked. I looked down at myself and saw how drenched in sweat I was. I bit down on my lip; it was a problem, one of the kind of which I wanted nothing of."Please, let me be. I want to go home or back to my parents. I don't really care where I want to leave here; this pack is far away," I answered as I clenched hard to the hem of my dress."It will be fine, I promise, but first I need you to calm down," Jamal asked me. I didn't understand how he could be so callous ab
CALIANAS POV.I turned in bed as I shook my head from worry, the words etched to the back of my mind as the horrid image formed each moment I closed my eyes shut. It was devastating; I hated it. The more I thought about it, dreamed about it, and envisioned it, the more it tore my part.I didn't know what pained me the mostâthe knowledge about him having me placed as bait that night or the knowledge that I'll be forever tied to him as a mate."Young mistress, are you in?" A voice called in with a knock alongside. I rolled my eyes; he was probably up to something else once again."Come on in," I answered. I sat up in bed as a lady walked in. I stared at her; she looked nothing like the ladies who had served me ever since I got here."What brings you here?" I asked, but she seemed to be checking me out."I'm your personal maid; the alpha asked me to stay by you at all times; he said some things about you feeling uneasy when surrounded by lots of people, so I'm here on his orders; hencefo
