Chapter 5 EDWARD'S POV THE NEXT DAY "Go ahead and knock; we need to see how our mate is fairing," Stark whined in my head nonstop. He was eager to see Caliana again after what happened last night, and we were both drawn to our hurting mate. I crazily spent half the night in her arms; she didn't notice though, and I was really careful not to raise an alarm. Thanks to stark, all he wanted was to be super close to her. He made my life a living hell until I accepted and sneaked into her room for 4 hours straight. It was hard leaving her all by herself, but I had to do it. It would be better if she noticed my scent rather than find me wrapping my hands around her. My fist paused halfway, not touching her door. I couldn't do it; I lacked the confidence. "Some other time, Stark, there's a lot of work to do." I reversed and left for the elevator. "You wasted the opportunity." Edward, if she means nothing to you, let it be clear that she means a lot to me. Stop hurting our mate." Star
CALIANAS POV. Her innocent words hunted me. Edward and I were getting married, and yet no one told me about it. My hands grew wet with perspiration. I couldn't go into an eternal bond with Edward, who doesn't even care about me. The sun was down when we returned. I held Love in my arms, and her eyes were shot into deep slumber. "Welcome, Luna Caliana." Juanita greeted, her head bowed, and she fiddled with her fingers at odd intervals. "Is something wrong?" I asked, handing love to the elderly woman who tagged along with Juanita. "It's Alp…." Juanita paused on her track; fear engulfed her eyes as she stared behind me. I swerved and met furious green eyes staring at me. "Alpha Ed…." I attempted to bow but got roughly pulled instead. Edward threw me into the elevator and got in as well; the door closed, and he turned to me, still fuming. He pinned me to the wall and yelled. "Who gave you the right to take my daughter out of the pack house? Un–Fucking–Guarded. How dare you even spe
CALIANAS POV.I gritted my teeth in anger as I cupped my face into my palms. I hit my feet against the floor as the recollection of my encounter with Can Dance resurfaced. I hated her to the brim, and I was well assured the feelings were mutual.A knock was placed on the door and threw me out of whatever fancy land I was submerged in earlier."Come in," I answered as it was pushed open, startled. I jumped to my feet as my eyes darted across the room. I swallowed hard at the sight of him; his arms were crossed over each other. He didn't seem so pleased to see me, but I had avoided him for as long as I could as well. I knew I was angry at how he had spoken to me earlier on. I didn't like that he hid his daughter from me, but I felt my head hard against my chest in his sight."What brings you here, Alpha Edward?." I asked, but my voice remained low, and although my blood pressure had spiked, I kept my actions under control."Do I really have to answer that?." He asked in a curt manner. I
EDWARDS POV.Headed straight towards my room. I tried holding a clear head."Good, I was hoping to meet with you," I answered, stopping in my tracks as I faced Jamal."Get me, Candace," I ordered, and he tilted his head slightly, confused at my speech."But... she had started a fight with Caliana, but tomorrow should be your wedding." Jamal explained that he took the liberty to remind me of something I knew already."Just get me Candace.!" I yelled at him, and he shook from worry and nodded."Right away sir," Jamal answered as he turned on his feet while I headed down for my room.I took off my shirt and tossed it to the side. I did the same with my pants as I weighed myself out of them and took a long puff of fresh air. I felt suffocated all the way here; I was tired and worried.Mereekh being in such proximity with Caliana, I felt alive—much more than I had ever been. I went down to have her informed about the wedding preparation, but she seemed to be upset about something else. How
CALIANAS POV."Please, I'm sorry. Let me go!" I pleaded, but nothing happened. I'm yanked by the hair as I tremble, the knife aimed at my heart."You should have known your place," she mutters to me before the knife is plunged deep into my heart as she lets out a hysterical laughter.I sat up in bed as I awoke; my eyes were open, my knees felt weak, and my whole body trembled. I wiped off the beads of sweat that formed on my head. I looked around and then to my chest. I traced my hand carefully around it, and I was right—it was nothing but a nightmare.I rose from bed with a sigh. Something bad was about to happen. I had no reason to say or think such a thing, but I felt it deep down and into my bones. It wasn't right with me. There was no reason for a nightmare about Candace, and I made sense. Besides, she was wrong, and I was right. As much as I hated that she was with Edward, I had not said anything about that. I merely corrected her for having spoken to me in that manner with her
EDWARD'S POV "What do you mean she's missing?" I asked, my voice filled with rage. I banged my fist against the table as I stood to my feet."I'm sorry; I should not have left her to be, but I felt she required privacy; she asked us to leave, and we could not defy her orders." The more explanation they gave, the more anger I felt."You have them locked up until she is found; for all I know, she may be in danger or they may have aided her escape," I ordered as a pack guard came forward and dragged them out."And you, any news yet?" I asked; my patience was running low, and they knew it. She was right around the pack grounds, but I didn't like this. I had enemies all around, but of all days, it certainly should not be tonight."They've combed all the floors, but she is nowhere; the search has been extended out towards the main grounds; she must be somewhere here; they had noticed she wasn't in her room on time; she'll be found soon," Jamal explained.Devastated and worried, I ran my ha
CALIANAS POV"You have always acted like you were too smart; you always placed yourself at the centre of everything mad decisions that were too rash, and now this is what it all comes down to." I trembled as he spoke; the words sounded like they were distant; his voice was deeper and his eyes were darker; it wasn't him anymore; it was his wolf."I'll get Jamal," I answered. My words betrayed me, as I sounded like a broken record. He pulled me by the arm and pinned me against his body. I bit on my lip as his claws elongated. I was in deep sh*t; I knew it.The full moon wasn't at its peak yet; it was no time for him to turn. I didn't know why he was acting rather strange."Edward, you are scaring me," I said as I tried to have myself detached from him. He let out a feral growl that caused my body to shock from fear. He held on to his head and screamed, this time in his human voice. He fell to the floor and rolled about; his bones twisted and broke, making a cracking sound as I stood sti
CALIANA’s POV"caliana!, caliana!!! Caliana, wake up!" A voice called as a hand shook at me. I sat up once more, and I started listening to this orb; it was Jamal.I felt an ache in my heart, something that made me really miss home. I looked around, and there I was, still in the room of the gold-tone pack, still in my nightmare.I looked down at my arm, and the bandage was still there. I winced in pain as it stung, and I felt the need to scratch it as hard as I could."Common now, we don't want to be a problem, do we?" he asked. I looked down at myself and saw how drenched in sweat I was. I bit down on my lip; it was a problem, one of the kind of which I wanted nothing of."Please, let me be. I want to go home or back to my parents. I don't really care where I want to leave here; this pack is far away," I answered as I clenched hard to the hem of my dress."It will be fine, I promise, but first I need you to calm down," Jamal asked me. I didn't understand how he could be so callous ab
