Em

“Umm Em… I don’t have any space left in my ears for more piercings…. And quite frankly …. Neither do you.” Sylvia said when she saw where they were.

“No piercings today Syl.” Em told her.

Asher was looking at her but she couldn’t decipher what it meant. She thought he was probably questioning her sanity.

Em was scouring her phone for a picture… then she showed the tattoo artist a few different things, and he took the picture and added what she was explaining.. he then drew it out for her and showed it to her. She absolutely loved it.

Aspen was looking over her shoulder at what they’d come up with.

She touched Em’s arm and said “I love it.”

“Yeah?” Em asked her.

“Fuck yeah” Aspen said and they grinned at each other.

Sylvia and Mickey were waiting up front in the waiting room. Every time Mickey got around needles or pretty much anything similar she just about passed out. So the twins sat with her while she was getting her new tattoo.

“So… I’m gonna assume something else happened?” Aspen asked her easily.

Em hated that they all felt like she would break at any moment. But the truth was she felt very very breakable.

Em told Aspen and Asher about Quinn wanting to know which bedroom he could have , that’s why he called and asked to talk….and then about him calling Finley his family…. Then she finished it off telling them about the phone call and the girls picture.

“What the fuck??” Aspen said.

“My thoughts exactly” Em replied.

She looked at Asher to see his reaction but he was frowning and looking away from her. He then jumped up… and marched out of the room… he kept going once he got back into the waiting room.. he pushed the door open so hard the back of it hit the building.

Em looked at Aspen questionably. But Aspen seemed just as confused as she was.

Asher didn’t come back in until Em was finishing up.. She looked at her new tattoo.. the one that covered up her ‘Q’ she’d gotten for Quinn. She immediately loved it. Had she made this decision on a whim? Absolutely. But she also knew she wouldn’t regret it.

She’d gotten a long tree branch, starting on her middle finger it went over the back of her hand, one part ran up her thumb as the rest went down the side of her arm and around it. Several mini branches poked out here and there.. and it was littered with maple leaves, successfully covering up her other tattoo.

She thought it was beautiful. And the way it sort of wrapped around her like it was holding on to her had so much meaning. Just like everything that had happened to her… things always seem to take hold and try to bring her down.. especially the most beautiful ones. She loved the symbolism of it all.

Aspen had already told her how much she loved it. And when the girls came to look there were a lot of ooohhs and aahhhs. So that just left Asher. He took her hand, turning her arm over to see where it wrapped around the back of it. He was looking at it so intently… she didn’t know what to think.

Apparently no one did, as everyone stayed silent and watched as he inspected it closely.

“It’s perfect.” He finally said.

Asher… being completely serious was a bit of a mind fuck for everybody. On a normal day he would’ve said something ridiculous and then turned it into a sexual comment…. all the while smirking. But not now. She looked up at him but he was still inspecting her hand and arm.

“Okayyy then …” Mickey said. “Are we ready to go guys? The food isn’t gonna cook itself!”

Emerson paid the the tattoo artist after he had taken some pictures of it for his portfolio.. and then Em and the girls took some quick pics of it too.

Asher finally looked up then and nodded once. Em was seriously starting to get concerned with his behavior. This was out of character for him for sure. He hadn’t cracked one joke … he hadn’t flirted with her this whole time…. And he hadn’t made one sexual comment…

And why did he storm out earlier? Where did he even go? Why was she so hung up on this? Em didn’t have the answers to any of her questions.

As they were walking out of the store she whispered to Aspen: “what’s going on with him?” And Aspen said she wasn’t sure exactly.

But then she said: “whatever it is I’m thinking it’s something to do with you though.”

Emerson She snuggled back up to Asher and she ended up falling asleep. Because she always felt safe in Asher’s arms. When Quinn came back.. she expected anger from him. But surprising her.. that’s not what she got at all. Asher had fallen asleep too. And Quinn stood there .. looking at them together .. and he smiled. And she smiled back. Finally the following day she got to go home. She moved slowly .. and didn’t do much. But she was home. They’d cleaned up the mess that had been made during her abduction. And Emerson had been worried she would feel scared to be back here. But she wasn’t. She was glad. After what had happened .. she decided not to sweat the small stuff. Because things could always be much worse. Quinn finally told her about the message he’d gotten from his brother. Apparently their dad had cheated on their mom with some woman he worked with. That was what made their mom start leaving and staying gone for days at a time.. and it was why she le

  • Catching the Moon (Chasing the Moon Book 2)   Chapter 160

Emerson It had been five days since she had been home from the hospital. It had been eight days since she woke up in said hospital… and two weeks since the worst night of her life. After she woke up and realized her dream wasn’t really a dream at all .. but it was everything that was happening while she was in a coma. It took her a while to really understand and grasp everything that had happened. At first she only recalled bits and pieces. But pretty soon the entire horrible ordeal came back to her. The doctors wanted to keep her for a while in the hospital .. so she had stayed three days once she woke up. The first day there were a lot of tests run .. making sure everything was working properly. Plus she had a ton of visitors that first day. Everyone cried … she cried too. But she was also happy .. happy that it was all over. By the end of that day she’d been poked and prodded and visited so much that she was worn out… and slept straight through the night. All h

Quinn Em had been in the regular room for two days. They’d been at the hospital for five at that point. And they were all just about to crack. He supposed in the grand scheme of things.. two days wasn’t that long. But fuck … it felt like forever. They’d all gotten their hopes up too high once the doctors had released Em from ICU. They all for some reason figured she would wake up in a few hours. And when that entire day went by with no signs from her .. They all got taken down a notch. And when they woke up in their adjoining hospital room… that had turned into a one room apartment for eleven people … and there had been no change … They started to get discouraged. And when that day went by and Em still hadn’t woken up .. they started to lose hope. “These things take time.” The doctor said when he came by that night. “She could wake up right now.. she could wake up in a week .. a month.. we just don’t know.” “A month??” Carol cried. The doctor sighed. “Carol. You know

EmDreams are funny. They’re strange and weird. Sometimes happy.. sometimes joyful and silly. Often they made no sense at all. At least from what she could remember. Because she didn’t have dreams anymore. Not since a couple of years ago anyway.. after everything with River and her dad. Since then, she only had nightmares. Of course she would have those peaceful moments .. when she was cuddled up to Asher or sleeping in a room full of people .. where she went the hours nightmare free. It’s funny how that works. Just knowing she was surrounded by people that love her gave her the comfort she needed to sleep peacefully. But she didn’t make the rules and that’s just how it was. Or maybe her subconscious had more power than she realized. Sure she may have had dreams, but none that she remembered. None that she was acutely aware of while she was sleeping. Not like she did in her horrifying nightmares. So for as far as she knew .. she didn’t have dreams. Until now … And this dream ..

  • Catching the Moon (Chasing the Moon Book 2)   Chapter 157

QuinnHe had gotten to stay with Em for thirty minutes. The rules for the ICU were very strict. After twelve hours they could have visitors .. two at a time… for half an hour. Then the visitors left and the nurses and doctors would come in and check them.. change out medication and check their vitals or whatever else was needed .. The doctors and nurses had that thirty minutes .. then , two more people could come in. Half an hour of visitation and half an hour of rest .. even though the patients were being poked and prodded .. and not resting at all during that time. After forty eight hours .. they’d start bringing her off the medication.. lowering doses at first .. one at a time. Then they’d do the same with the machines. If that all went okay… they would move her to a regular room. It was a lot and very time consuming. But he was glad they were taking things slowly. Whatever got her better .. he was there for it. After Quinn and Carol came out .. his dad went in to visit. No one
