The last thing he could clearly recall was someone familiar shouting his name, and after that, his mind had gone completely blank.
The face that he could remember brightly smiling was growing pale by each passing second while she laid on her arms.
When he failed to notice that incoming car, he did not expect that she would come out of nowhere to push him out of the way only to end up this way due to her hasty decision.
Blood dripped down from her forehead while he tightly hugged her figure. He wasn’t able to think straight at that moment. The only thought running in his mind was that he wouldn’t let go of this warmth.
All of his senses went dull, and the people that gathered around both of them did not catch his attention. Although everyone was creating a ruckus around him, the sounds did not reach him.
His body shook while he could feel the warmth leaving her body each second. He did not know what to do. He was willing to do anything to have her open her eyes.
While he held her body close to his, he was vaguely able to feel her heart beats, and that was the only thing that managed to keep him going until now or else he would have collapsed back.
°°°
Everything was a blur to him. The only thing he could recall was holding on to her desperately while she was placed into the ambulance. The entire time he begged her to be alive.
Standing outside of the room she was being operated at, his knees collapsed, and sitting down on the ground, he had tears glistening at the corner of his eyes.
While anxiety build up within him, his heart started to beat rapidly inside his chest, and the worst possible scenario came in his mind.
He wasn’t able to bring himself to think positively, and clenching his hand into a tight fist, he stared down at the ground.
A tear droplet fell down his eyes.
He wanted to scream loudly. More than that, he wanted to destroy himself. If it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t have ended up in that situation.
He should have been better.
A pair of foot rushed behind him and came to stand beside him. He did not bother to raise his head.
Nervousness started to fill Mirae, and she felt sick in her stomach due to that. Her chest clenched painfully while she hoped for things to go right for Yura.
Her gaze then fell on the man crouching down beside her, and from his appearance alone, it was visible that he was at a worse state.
Mirae was aware of the obsession he had with Yura, and seeing him like that was indeed worrisome. It was as if he was completely soulless, and his skin was couple of shades paler.
Mirae was in no state to comfort someone else, but feeling pity for the man, she said, “You know, she did not save you for you to destroy yourself. And this is something Yura will survive.”
However, it did not appear as if her words had reached his ears. There was nothing more than this that she was able to do. Now, the only thing that could be done was for Yura to wake up.
°°°
Yejoon held on to the hand of the woman resting on the bed. Although the doctor had mentioned about how she was out of the danger, the anxiety within him wouldn’t disappear until the moment she opened her eyes.
Clenching her hand tightly, he brought it closer to his mouth and kissed on it softly. He hoped that he would be able to transfer some of the warmth from his body to her like that.
“Please wake up quickly, Yura,” he begged, “I wouldn’t be able to go on for long without you. Please open your eyes. I will do anything for that to happen.”
°°°
A day had passed before Yura had finally opened her eyes. Other than the injury she had suffered on her head, the aftermath wasn’t that bad.
She was able to get away without any broken limbs and with few scratches. Only her right hand was sprained slightly. But that did not bother her much.
Although lying on the hospital bed wasn’t an ideal situation for Yura, she was more than glad that she was one on this bed.
She considered herself lucky for being able to save him in that moment. Although one would consider that to be quite reckless of her, she did not think of it as so.
If she had wasted a second further back then in order to come up with a better solution, for sure he would be the one laying on this bed right now.
That was something she couldn’t let happen at any cost.
Seeing how Mirae stared at her with tears visible in his eyes, Yura let out a chuckle and commented, “What? Are you actually crying?”
“Tch! Of course not! Are you an idiot to do something as dangerous as that? I almost got an heart attack when I heard of it. You just got everything on track. It would be too much of a pity to lose your life.”
“See, I was really careful when doing it. That’s why, I only ended up with some minor wounds,” she said. Of course, that wasn’t the case, but she wanted to comfort Mirae.
“Both you and Yejoon are crazy for each other. Speaking about him, he is waiting for you outside.”
Unable to catch a wink of sleep, Yura decided to visit the swimming pool. When she reached there, she saw that someone was already present there. On a closer observation, she learned it was Yejoon.Hearing the footsteps behind him, Yejoon turned his hand. Surprise flashed through his eyes for a second before a smile appeared on his face. Yura gave him a smile in return. She walked over to him and sat beside him, dipping her legs in the cold water. It felt refreshing."Why are you here?" he questioned."I probably slept a lot in the afternoon. What about you?" she said."Thinking," he mused before raising his head to stare at the sky. "On?" What could have needed him so think so deeply in the middle of the night."A lot of things," he answered furtively. This made her frown, wondering what the issue was since he hid from her. Nonetheless, understanding he had his boundaries, she didn't push it.Following his line of sight, she looked at the sky. The blanket of darkness had shiny, sm
The corner of her lips curved to form a smile as she received the call and brought the phone closer to her ear. Before she was able to greet, Mirae stated, “Wow! Did you see the picture!? I feel baffled right now. I thought that he was decent guy, but I am changing my mind right now. I know that you have only returned recently, but how could that man go and hug someone after claiming to love you for so long? I am telling you that he is the worst kind of man. You should slam the phone on his face and demand an answer from him. Men like him shouldn’t be trusted. You can’t imagine how infuriated I feel right now.” Yura knew that the only way Mirae was acting so angrily about it was because of how she hated Yejoon with passion at this point. But she did not point that out to the girl, knowing that Mirae would not be accepting that. “Is that so?” she voiced out, “I thought that you said to me you will not be helping me reject him, and you also complimented him greatly.” “I don’t know
Ever since that day, Yejoon’s friends started to contact her, and she had gotten a lot closer to them. A feeling within her told her that Yejoon knew about it all but did not interfere in the matter despite that. She couldn’t guess why he was all of a sudden alright with her getting to know his friends, but so far, she thought that it was because of how she mentioned that they were not of her type. Although Yura said that to calm him down back then, that did not mean that she was lying. They were the bunch she did not want to date. In all honesty, she did not want to go for someone who would attract a lot of attention. This wasn’t because of the past but due to the fact that she wanted to lead a peaceful life. Certainly Yejoon did not meet those criteria, but she knew that he wouldn’t do anything to cause her life to be in a turmoil. Moreover, he was the only person who would be allowed to make her life troublesome, and she couldn’t get angry at him for that. Yejoon’s friends wer
“Isn’t it a coincidence how we meet at the same place all the time?” Her words caused Youngjae to turn his head in her direction, and his eyes widened slightly. Her eyes then fell on how his thigh was injured and bleeding. She shook her head at him due to that. “That looks terrible,” she commented. Although he was struggling to stand up, she did not make her way over to him to help him. That was because of how she did not have the desire to do so. It’s not like seeing him in pain caused her to feel any kinds of emotions. She knew that he was going to be in this state sooner or later, so she wasn’t surprised to see him in this way. A groan escaped from his mouth due to the pain, and he collapsed. His face contorted due to the pain, and she shook her head at it. He reaped what he sowed. She gave him a chance to have a better life, but since this was what he chose to follow, who could he blame other than himself? “Shut up! I am in mood to entertain you right now. If you are not s
A solemn silence was present in the room after that, and even she was able to sense how the atmosphere of the room had change to a much serious one after those words had left her mouth. Nonetheless, she did not regret those words of hers. When it came to Ryu Yejoon, this was the most she could do. It’s not like she could judge them since his choices and hers differed a lot. Yoon Shihyuk was the first one to break the silence. Not knowing what to say to that, he awkwardly rubbed the back of his head and answered, “Yes, we will make sure of it.” Their friendship was something that couldn’t be described in words. Although they might not tell each other about their feelings or life, they still got together and played around. She grinned and voiced out, “Why don’t you guys continue eating? Just let me know if you need anything.” However, the peace in the café was immediately broken when the door to the place was pushed open, and a man walked in through it. “What do you think you three
“This should be the place, right?” Yoon Shihyuk asked while he removed his sunglasses. Beside him was two of this other friend— Lee Junghyun and Jung Yugyeom. The three of them showed interest in this place with their level of that varying. “I want to go in, but I am scared of Yejoon. The three of us will be dead for real if he gets to find out that we came here,” Lee Junghyun commented. The three of them stood in front of Yura’s café. Finding the location to this place was hard for them since Yejoon tried his best to hide it. After they bribed Jung Yugyeom, they finally got the information on this place. Junghyun and Shihyuk wanted to see this lady for a long time, and now given the opportunity, they did not want to miss it. “We die then. Who cares about that? Yejoon is out of Seoul, and this is our only chance to meet her,” Shihyuk bravely vocalized. It wasn’t as if he wasn’t scared; it was rather that he did not prefer to think of the consequences right now. That would be ruin
