Serena's POV

I couldn’t even remember falling asleep, let alone knowing when he came to the bed beside me.

My heart thumped loudly in my chest as I stared at him.

I sat on the bed for a second, confused and breathing hard.

Did we…?

I didn’t think so.

But why didn’t Damien take me back to my room? Why did he leave me here?

I looked down at my body, slowly checking for any sign that something intimate happened.

But I couldn’t tell. My underwear was still on. My clothes didn’t feel out of place.

A doom settled in my chest, like a weighty discomfort.

Carefully rising, my legs felt a little heavy and sleepy, and perhaps, just a little intoxicated.

I walked on tiptoe toward the door and slipped out, the door knob still warming up in my palm. I was not ready to face Damien, not even ready to accept the truth on what had transpired between us last night should it be the one I dreaded.

On entering my room, I froze.

Sophia was already there, arms folded, hair all messed up, looking into one e

  • Chasing Back The Woman He Destroyed   Chapter 47

Serena's POVShe scowled, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes. "Do you think it has something to do with last night? Maybe because I embarrassed myself. Oh God, do you think he's going to ban us from the hotel?"I smiled quietly. "I don't think so. He was not upset when he stood you up. In fact, he was very calm."Sophia groaned, covering her face. "Ugh, I kissed Damien and then passed out in front of the hotel owner."I smiled, "No you didn't kiss Damien until we were inside. Mr Kyle had no knowledge of the kiss, unless you decide to tell him.""Fucking fuck you," she playfully teased and I laughed. We finished the rest of our meal in silence, our mouths shut as if to talk would take away from us enjoying the most expensive meal we have ever had in our entire lifetime.Sophia yawned and looked over at me. "So, what do you think he wants?"I put down my phone. "Who?""Mr. Kyle. The owner of the hotel," she remarked, raising an eyebrow. "You got a call that he needs to see you. Don't te

Serena's POVSophia sprang for the bed as if out of the fire, threw herself under the blankets, and settled into her best "sleeping peacefully" position.I had to push my hand into my mouth in order to suppress the laughter. Her hair was mussed and she was breathing like she just ran a marathon. Very convincing. The second knock came.I cleared my throat, trying to sound as normal as possible. "Come in."Damien pushed the door open and slipped in, glancing over at the bed where Sophia lay sleeping. He didn't say a word about her, likely thought she was actually sleeping. His eyes shifted to mine. "How is she?""She's okay," I lied, folding my hands in front of me. "Just sleeping it off.""I can tell that." He chuckled, then ran the back of his neck. "Listen, about last night."My heart skipped a beat. Oh God, here we go.He continued, "When I had just stepped out of the shower, you were already in bed, sound asleep. I did not want to wake you up, so I simply lay down beside you. I swe

Serena's POVDamien turned to me like I’d just committed high treason. “You told her what?"“I didn’t!” I threw my hands up, speechless. “Okay, maybe once. But it wasn’t supposed to be, God, not like this.”He was still blinking like someone just slapped him with a fish.Sophia giggled, clearly pleased with herself. “Don’t be mad, Serena. Sharing is caring.”“I’m not sharing,” I muttered under my breath.I looked at Damien again, and he just shook his head, lips slightly parted, stunned into silence. It was official: this was the most unhinged 2AM of my life.Sophia blinked up at Damien with that lazy, wine-heavy smile.“Your lips…” she said, slurring just a little. “I can see why Serena thinks they’re sexy.”My jaw dropped. I didn’t say that. Out loud. Did I? I'm never going to let Sophia drink again, ever. Before I could react, she followed it with, “I bet you’re a beast in bed too. Never thought our cute little lawyer had it in him.”Then, just like that, she passed out. Right on D

Serena's POVDamien finally looked at him, one eyebrow raised. “Ex-boyfriend, huh?”Felix stood slowly, deliberately. “Yeah. Problem?”Oh no.I got up so fast I knocked my chair back a little. “Okay! No. Nope. We’re not doing this. This isn’t some stupid pissing contest.”“She talks about you a lot,” Damien cut in, smirking at Felix.Oh my God.“Wow, seriously?” I shot Damien a look.Felix stepped closer, and even though he was smiling, it wasn’t a nice one. “Maybe because I made an impression.”I groaned. “Are you two going to fight over me in the middle of a freaking hotel bar? Should I throw down a glove or something?”Sophia, ever helpful, raised her glass. “You two should fight for her. Winner gets Serena, loser gets me.”“Girl,” I hissed. “Shut up.”She giggled, then flopped back on the table. “I’m kidding. Kind of.”"You don't know this dude, Serena," Felix warned, "He was sleeping with my fiance." I froze, Sophia's eyes widened in surprise.I thought they were going to fight

  • Chasing Back The Woman He Destroyed   Chapter 42

Serena's POVMy eyes were wide with disbelief as Sophia moved towards Kyle."What the hell are you doing?" I whispered, perhaps to myself. And that's when she fell. Her knees buckled, and she hit with a nasty thud onto the hard floor."Oh my God!" I exclaimed half in horror, my hands flying to my mouth.I was going to run to her and help her up, but as I tried to move for her assistance, I felt it, my legs were shaky, almost as though they had their own mind.My head was light. Dizzy. What was in that wine? One of the guards stepped forward, but Kyle beat him to it. He reached her first, helped her up, and gave her a smile like this was normal.Sophia didn’t say a word. She looked completely embarrassed, and honestly, I couldn’t blame her.“It’s fine,” the man told the guard. “I’ve got her.”I quickly pulled out my phone and texted Damien."Sophia is drunk. I think I am too. Can’t help her."Something’s wrong with the wine Felix ordered, it was powerful.Kyle walked Sophia back to our
