I left my parents in the office, knowing that they had more to discuss privately. This decision was going to bring big changes, both to our family as well as the pack.

Closing the door softly behind me, I made my way down the hall, through the kitchen, to the back door. I could hear him on the phone and he glanced up with a small smile and wink as he continued his conversation.

I sank into the patio chair, thinking about everything that had happened over the past few weeks and what was to happen tonight, feeling a little anxious both for my parents and their new roles, and for myself.

Not going to lie, I didn’t want to attend tonight because I didn’t want to have to see Jace or any of his crappy friends. They were all pretty much jerks, but he really led the pack, so to speak.

Chase hung up the phone and came over to me holding out his hand to help me up.

When he folded me into his arms, I felt almost all of the tension that I had neem feeling seep from my body.
