CHAPTER TEN - FATHER AND DAUGHTER

“Watch where you’re running!” a man shouted at Ethyl.

Ethyl jerked and her tears built up in her dolly eyes. “Sowwy…” She was scared at this man who had jet-black waist hair with red bandana on his forehead, wearing long black and white sleeves and jeans, and Converse shoes. His eyes were like a tiger seeking its prey.

He felt guilty by Ethyl’s puppy eyes. She was like a doll lost in the woods. He lowered his guard and gave her a gentle look. Agad niyang tinayo si Ethyl na naluluha pa rin hanggang ngayon. Umupo siya sa harapan ni Ethyl na naka-squat para tapatan siya. “It’s okay, don’t cry. I make girls cry in bed though,” pagbibiro pa niya scratching his left cheek using his index finger.

Hindi nakuha ni Ethyl ang sinabi nito sa kanya. “H-How did you make giws cwy in bed?” inosenteng tanong nito.

He chuckled and patted her head. “You don’t need to know, kiddo. Where’s your mom?”

Ethyl shrugged her shoulders. Luminga-linga pa siya. “M-Mom-dy said she wouwd answew a phone caww.”
