Chapter 7

I gasped. I shook my head and just ignore his presence. I have the right to remain silent. I'm still mad at him, he's been pissing me off lately. I might do something that will also passim off.

“Answer me.” He said. I just continue what I'm doing right now even though my hand is shaking. I can feel his gaze towards me.

“Look at me.” He demanded. I didn't follow what he said. He touched my chin and let me look at him. My eyes widen when I smell his breath. He's too close! I examined his face, he looks so beautiful with that pointed nose, thick eyebrows, long eyelashes, kissable lips, and soft yet manly skin. I smell his scent.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” He asked and he immediately let me go. He felt the awkwardness between us. I don't even know how to speak a word to him.

“I rejected him because I'm already married,” I said. He look surprised by what I said. Does it sound surprising? Isn't it the proper way to do it in a marriage? I can stay loyal to him even if he can't.

He nodded and left me there dumbfounded. He looks confused by the answer I gave to him. He thought I will accept Elvis's offer, but I'm still keeping my promise to him. I don't even like Elvis, he's just a friend to me since he's nice. He's approachable and friendly. I came back to work and I didn't pay attention to the time and I received a text message from Canon.

From: Canon

I ordered lunch for us. Come to my office.

He wants me to eat lunch with him? What the hell is going on in his mind? What if they find out about our relationship? That will be so fucked up! I shrugged the idea away and convinced myself that they will never find out.

I was about to walk to the office of Canon when Janice clung her shoulder to mine. I closed my eyes in frustration when I also saw Elvis coming towards us.

“Let's eat lunch together!” She said and immediately drag me to the nearest restaurant. She's jolly and energetic. How can I tell Canon that I needed to eat lunch with them so they will not suspect anything?

I texted Canon. I hope he understands. He replied too fast!

You can decline their invitation the hell.

I know he's already mad but I can't do anything about it.

“Hey! Eat well, Lory! Stop texting!” Janice said and I ate with them. Elvis just keeps serving food to me, he's so nice.

Canon has to eat alone right now. I'm so guilty. I can decline their offer but I will not let them assume things. They will feel jealous that I have a special connection with Canon! They will think that way, I don't want that to happen. I want to make friends. Maybe I will visit Rehan and Kally when I have some free time.

We came back to work and continue the papers that Canon asked me to do. As soon as I finished the papers around 2:00 pm. I immediately came to Canon's office to submit it all. I knock on the door and he asked me to come in.

He looks so stressed while doing his work. I know how hardworking he is that's why he's so rich. I wonder how rich he is. He make money through work and he didn't just depend on his parents. That's so much to admire about him. I stared at him for a moment before I gather myself to come near him. I handed him the papers and he asked me to just put it in his table.

He looks tired. Did he eat well? I saw two lunch packs on his table. What the hell? He didn't eat lunch? What the hell is he thinking?

“You didn't eat lunch?” I said surprisingly. He looks at me coldly. I shivered in an unfamiliar feeling.

“The one I asked to eat lunch with me, didn't come. I lost my appetite.” He said and my eyes widen. I immediately brought his lunch to the kitchen of the building and tried to warm the food again.

I came to his office and he looks so mad when I arranged his papers on the side of his table and put in front of him the lunch.

“Eat,” I said. He smiled in sarcasm.

“Are you dictating to me?” He asked.

“Let's eat then,” I said and sat in front of him. I pick up the other lunch pack and began to eat mine. He shook his head and eat in disbelief.

“It's bad to skip meals,” I said.

“It's not that you care.” He said.

“Hey! Why so bitter? I care for you as long as I'm still your wife.” I said angrily.

“Yeah in paper.” He said.

“Yeah right.” I rolled my eyes after I said that.

“I needed to accept their invitation. They would assume that we have something going on if they find out that I ate lunch with you.” I said.

“Who cares?” He rudely said. I want to punch his handsome face. Stop me or I will punch this moron.

I just watched him eat his lunch. He looks hungry because he finished eating with an empty plate. If I didn't force him to eat, he might be sick. I felt pity for him, he does think nothing but money and his company. He didn't even think about his health. He married me because he needed more money. He needed more money to be more influential.

He came back to work as soon as he finished eating. I just came back to my face and I didn't expect the message he send.

Thanks.

I smiled and my face immediately blushed. Why do I feel butterflies in my stomach? Am I sick? OMG, I need to consult a doctor! This isn't me. That's a simple Thank you a message from the rude guy you despise the most. What the hell is wrong with me?
