Thirty nine: Complicated

We all remained silent. I was so nervous, my heart leaping to my throat, back to my chest. This couldn't be. My friend would die?

"Virginia." Barb sat in the space beside her, Barb's eyes filled with tears. "I-I don't get you. How did this happen? Y-You're still joking, right?"

Virginia continued to weep. "I noticed I was having terrible headaches, constant fever, my bones and joints ached, my tummy hurt. So, I decided to go to the hospital."

Bella lurched to Virginia, sat beside her. She patted Virginia's back to probably help her feel better, also crying too. 

"When I told the doctor all this, he asked me if I was bleeding too," Virginia continued. "I told him yes. So, he took a test. Going back to the hospital, I was diagnosed with cancer. I-I don't know how it happened. I'm just so…"
