Iris P.O.V
Luckily for me, I was able to escape through the window without sustaining any injury. The only pain I felt was when I fell to the ground, making a thud on the ground.
"Arrrghh!" I groaned in pain with my teeth gritted while leaping on a foot as I ran towards the parking lot hurriedly.
I kept looking behind me to be sure that my parents hadn't realized that I had left the room and was about to leave the house for good.
I couldn't just decipher how my father would use me as an exchange for a deal that he made with the said moon goddess.
I wasn’t trying to be ungrateful about his sacrifice or anything but the more I think about it, he could have just let me die. He could have just let me die if he knew that I was the price he was going to pay.
I couldn’t just wrap my head around the fact that my parents wanted me to marry a werewolf because of a promise that my father made in the past.
Why did I have to suffer for something that I knew nothing of?
It was more like I was being punished for something that I knew nothing off.
When my mates would be enjoying the varieties and necessities of life, I would be stuck to a werewolf who could kill me off in seconds.
Were my parents truly my biological parents? Because I doubt that any parents who hold genuine love and affection towards their child would allow anything bad to happen to them.
I got into the car and placed my head on the driving wheel, muttering words of prayer.
This was the first time that I would actually think of trying to run away from home and I was really scared and nervous because I wasn't sure about the danger that I would be meeting outside but one thing I knew was that it was far better than getting married to someone that you barely knew.
Weren't werewolves supposed to be nothing but myths? How could one exist for real?
I started the car's ignition and drove out of the compound at full speed.
I didn't know where I was going and I knew that going to my friend's house was surely going to be a minus. It was more like turning yourself in to the police. My parents would surely find me if I stayed over at my friend's house because they knew all my friends well.
The worst of it all was that I wasn't with cash, my credit cards and my phone. How would I survive in this damn world?
Assuming I had cash with me, I would have been able to reserve a room for myself in a hotel and stay there for some weeks before deciding on the next plan of action.
The next plan of action was to flee the country and leave my parent's to suffer the consequences of their action.
It was not like it was my fault, it was their fault and most especially, it was my father's fault.
After pondering where to go, I decided to go to a particular field where homeless people lived.
I would rather live like that than to be married!
I kept driving around the city, enjoying the cool wind that whipped some strands of hair on my face. The way the wind whistled in my ear made it feel like I regained freedom.
The euphoria that I felt inside of me disappeared later on. Tears glistened in my eyes as I recollected the conversation that I had with my parents earlier.
Never in my life have I envisioned that my perfect life could be turned upside down within the blink of an eye. If anyone had told me that my parents made that devastating promise to the said moon goddess, I would have never believed them and would have cut my friendship with them.
Tears began to fall down my eyes like a free fall as I drove to nowhere.
It was getting dark now and I could see the moon peering out of the clouds while I stared at its beauty in awe.
All of a sudden, my car started to move in a rickety manner before breaking down in the middle of the road.
I hissed out loudly as I got out of the car, opening the car bonnet to see what I could fix but I was unable to place my hands on anything.
Just as I was about to turn around and scream for help, I was taken aback when I noticed that I was in a remote area surrounded by a dilapidated building and I spotted a ramshackle car from afar.
Cold shivers ran through my spine as I looked around me. I was so lost in thought that I didn't know when I drove into this abandoned area that gave me creeps. Cold air gushed through my skin and I could feel goosebumps all over my skin as I quivered in fear.
It was already late and if I was grateful for one thing, I was grateful for the full moon whose light shone all over the area. I was scared to my bones because I didn't really know what to do!
As I pondered on my next line of action, I heard a rustle on the dried leaves that littered the ground.
"W-Who is there?" I stuttered in fright.
After the rustle on the leaves, I heard a growl that made me jump in fright. As I rushed towards my car to seek shelter from whatever was about to attack me, a wolf jumped out of the thick bushes and before I knew it, I was surrounded by wolves who growled as they circled round me.
At that moment, I knew it was my end. I was running from a werewolf, only to fall in the hands of a more ferocious beast who could tear me into pieces in a second.
I picked a stick and tried to scare them off but they came closer to me the more I tried.
"Help!" I screamed as my voice came back as echoes in my ear.
"Somebody please help me!" I screamed again, squeezing my eyes shut.
All of a sudden I felt a dark aura around me and it further aroused my suspicion when the wolves began to howl but they didn't retract their steps. My eyelids flickered as I opened my eyes and I almost jumped in fright when I saw the reflection of someone's shadow on the ground. I titled my head slowly as my fingers trembled in fear.
My heart almost exploded when I saw that someone was standing behind me. I turned around with fright but I couldn't see his face because of the hat he was wearing.
His eyes, however, gleamed in the darkness like sapphires.
He took a step forward while I had my gaze fixed on him. He stood rigid beneath the moonlight, with his eyes squeezed shut. When he opened his eyes again, his sapphire eyes turned white while my eyes grew wide in shock. I rubbed my eyes to be sure that I was seeing right.
Suddenly, his knees reversed direction and I could hear something like the cracking of a bone. His fingers grew into long claws and his teeth into fangs, white hair sprout out of his skin and his face contorted to a wolf’s muscle.
His clothes tore off his body as his muscles kept increasing in size till it felt like he towered over me.
He turned into a wolf! He was a freaking werewolf!
He let out a huge growl that shook the area and the next thing that I could hear were the flapping of wings from the birds that hovered around the sky.
I couldn’t believe that I was running from the whole idea of getting married to a werewolf and here I was, behind a werewolf. Or was I dreaming?
I must be having a nightmare! It can only be a nightmare!
Why was my life suddenly taking another direction? This wasn’t what I wanted for myself and why was everything currently surrounding my life just about wolves and werewolves?
My eyes sight were fuzzy as I felt a sharp pain in my head, before I knew it, I had collapsed to the ground out of shock.
Dylan’s P.O.VAfter scaring the wolves that tried to attack the girl, I changed back into my human form and my eyes strayed towards the dainty figure that collapsed on the floor. I crouched down next to her while the moonlight reflected on her face, her vulcanite black hair almost covered half of her face. I removed the hair that was all over her face with my fingers brushing through her face in the process. On a normal night, if someone had fainted I would have left them there till they recuperated on their own but I developed a great urge to look at this lady's face. There was nothing special about her face, the only thing I found attractive about her were her long languid eyelashes of velvet-black. "Should I save her or should I leave her here?" I pondered deeply on it with my eyes fixated on her. The first time I transformed before an old woman was when I went to a small town for a mission that the moon goddess assigned to me, she was thrown into a state of shock and when she
Iris P.O. VI scrunched up my eyes because of the bright light that slipped through my eyelids that flickered continuously.A pungent smell overwhelmed me, assaulting and invading all my senses. The blinding lights were starting to subside, causing me to squint my eyes until I could have a clearer image of where I was. When the blurred images in my head cleared, then I realized where I was. I was at the hospital. How I got here and how long I have been here was something I couldn't wrap my head around though. Then slowly, the memories rushed through my head like a flood. From what I could recollect, I ran away from home then I found myself in a desolate area filled with dilapidated buildings. I was almost attacked by a wolf then.......I gasped when I remembered the man whose eyes gleamed like sapphires, the beauty his eyes entailed were mesmerizing until he transformed into a wolf. Cold shivers ran down my spine as the memories of my knight in shining armor occupied my thoughts.Th
Dylan's P.O.V. Screams and shouts were coming from the outside. My guess was right, the woman that I was supposed to get married to didn't know anything prior to marriage before. With the way she protested, I guessed she was also clearly against the union. The way she screamed for help was starting to infuriate me but she could scream all she wanted because no one was going to hear her inside the middle of this thick forest. My servants rushed towards the door, trying to calm the woman who was threatening to rain hail and brimstones if her parents didn't take her home immediately. I leaned back in on my chair, adjusting my glasses, with my eyes fixated on the newspaper. I had no interest in pacifying my soon to be bride but the noise and screams was something that I wouldn't tolerate. The dogs in the compound kept barking at her and I was taken aback when she barked back at them. It was something that I wasn't expecting at all. "You want to get me married to a beast
Iris's P.O.VNever in my wildest imaginations have I ever imagined about getting married at such an early age. When my mate's would be living life, I would be wallowing in grief and despair of being stuck in a marriage that I never wanted. I lowered my head, thinking about how my life was ruined. A great tremor overtook me and before I knew it,hot torrents of grief coursed down my face. My eyes bled with pain as my bottom lip quivered but I wouldn't allow my shoulders drop in defeat.I could still escape the horrible life that I was about to be forced in but how to escape was what i didn't know how to do. I stood up from the bed and went to the window to see if I would be able to escape but there was no way I could escape without being caught because armed men were stationed everywhere. There was no use in trying to run away because I would surely get caught. As I was about to give up in defeat, a thought popped up in my head!"What if I try to do things that would irritate t
IRIS. "DEAR WIFE, WELCOME TO HELL!" "NO!" Even as the words felt like they were being shouted in my head, I let out a scream and jolted awake. Welcome to hell? It couldn't be! There was no way I had married that monster of an animal who regarded himself as a man. "No," I whimpered, letting the tears flow freely, knowing that no matter how many times I wished it was not true, no matter how much I tried to live in the denial of the very words that binded us as a couple, the words were truly uttered, and there was nothing to change that. The fact that the man had even gone as far as making the way like every normal human wedding I had ever witnessed spoke volume. I was given out to a monster by my parents already. Speaking of parents, I didn't want to think about mine. At least, not yet. Not until I figured out a way to get out of the mess they thought to drag me into when I had absolutely no clue why or when they were making it. For now, I needed to figure out what I was going to
IRIS. The battle of stare lasted for over a minute. At some point, I became afraid, thinking about how I had put the woman on the spot when she was only trying to be nice to me. "Giselle, I–" The door opened abruptly, cutting off my apology. I watched as the kind and worried look on Giselle's face dropped, quickly replaced by an informidable one before she turned to look at whoever the intruder was. "What insolent act is that?!" She barked at the newcomer. I leaned to a side so I could see who it was. I frowned when I saw a young girl of no more than twelve lowered her head. Whether it was from respect for Giselle or fear of her, I couldn't tell. "The Luna... I was just trying... trying..." "For goddess's sake, Clarise, stop trying. How many tines have I told you that?" Even though Giselle's voice was stern, she didn't sound as awful as some of my teachers from school. "I just wanted to make sure the Luna was okay." The girl called Clarise said solemnly. "It's okay, Giselle.
IRIS. True to her words, Giselle delivered the detailed map to me about three hours later. She went overboard to the point of marking where each place that was guarded and when the switching of guards would take place. I smiled after studying the map and rolling it back. Luckily for me, the time when she delivered the letter of a map was late at night and also closed to the time when the switching of guards would happen. I quickly got out of the clothes Clarise had taken her time to dress me in for the supposed first dinner with the Alpha. I wore all black clothes to camouflage me into the night. Once I was done, I escaped through the window to my door in order not to alert anyone to my intention. I merged into the dark and immediately took the run for it in the first direction the map showed me to take. As Giselle predicted, the place was empty - probably because it was an open spot and the confidence that no one would dare try anything was there for that animal man. I didn't car
IRIS The miracle came in the form of a white wolf charging from the other side. I watched in horror as the white wolf charged at the first wolf it came across, then it rushed straight to the wolf that was trying to attack me. Seeing that two of their comrades were rapidly down, the three other wolves retreated immediately. Rather than let them go, the white wolf chased after them. I stood transfixed to a spot, unable to go after the wolves or even run for my life. It wasn't until I heard a scared whimper that my brain began to work again. I turned in the opposite direction the wolves raced to and ran for my life. I had barely covered a lot of distance when I felt something dragged me by the edge of my dress. I let out a loud cry, already knowing what it was. Just as expected, I saw a wolf - the white wolf - holding me back and preventing me from making a run for it. "Let me go, you monster!" I screamed, trying to free my dress from its fangs somehow. Still, the wolf held on even
