23. A deal

Giovanni walked into the room in his building where the meeting with the capos was supposed to hold. It was a little room in his building where such meetings were always held. The room was dark, thanks to the black curtains that prevented the brightness of the sun from penetrating inside the room.

The four capos of the different street districts of the city were already seated. All dressed in black suits, their faces were stoic and they sat in silence. Giovanni inside the room and stood in front, followed by his consigliere.

“Good morning, gentlemen.” he greeted, looking at everyone's faces. Nobody held a smile. The atmosphere was tense as they all waited for him to continue.

“This morning, I got some not too pleasant news. Evil just hit the Cherisi family.” he paused again before continuing “I need you all to maintain a firm grip on your sections. Protect it with all your might and if you find any foreign force lurking around, report directly to me.”
