Lolly’s POV

I nearly gasped when I stepped into the ball.

The beautiful interior design, lighting, the enchanting music, the guests all dressed flamboyantly made me feel like I’d just stepped into heaven.

I was breathless at the beauty of it all, and thankful to Rue for forcing me here. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Some of the guests were dancing. I moved through the crowd, keeping a low profile.

Even though everyone wore a mask, I was still afraid I’d run into my stepfamily.

“Who do you think is Mr. Stone?” I heard some ladies behind me muster.

“Do you think that’s him?” another pointed out a broad-chested man on the dance floor.

“No, he is not…charming enough. I don’t think Mr. Stone’s at his own party?”

Ah, I thought, the elusive Mr. Stone continues to be elusive? I meandered through the crowd, taking note of everything.

Mr. Stone’s mansion was bigger than everything I’d ever seen.

The walls were covered with expensive art. I stalked the lined frames slowly, fascinated.

Distracted, I bumped into someone. My heels gave away, sending me flying.

His strong arm caught me before I landed on the floor. He pulled me back towards him.

I fell into a solid mass of chest. The next thing I noticed was his scent.

That scent.

It wafted into my nostrils, taking me back to the night of my wedding. My wild night with a stranger.

“Careful there, princess,” came his voice.

I raised my head slowly and peered into his face. He was wearing a mask, so I could only see his eyes. They flirted over me, taking me in slowly.

My heartbeat accelerated, thudding softly against his chest.

He still had his strong hands around my arms, holding me steady against his body.

My throat went dry.

I didn’t know who he was but there was something about him. Those eyes, the way they roamed all over me hungrily.

That voice sounded familiar. My body relaxed into his like it was home. Like I’d always known him. Like I’d always wanted him.

We stood there for a good minute or so. It seemed as if the entire party had disappeared into the background and we were the only people left in the world.

I wanted to stay here like this, smelling him, being in his arms, staring into his eyes.

“Do I know you?” he asked, breaking the reverie. I regained my senses and freed myself from his grip.

“No, I don’t believe so,” I said.

He angled his head to the side. “Hmm, something feels different with you. I feel like I’ve met you before. I’m almost sure of it.”

Shit.

“Perhaps, you are mistaken.”

He opened his mouth to speak again, but the emcee’s voice interrupted him.

“Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Mr. Roman Stone,” I heard.

All the lights turned on us. On him. Still close to me.

I backed away from the bright lights, shocked.

He was Mr. Stone? The famous Mr. Stone I’d heard so much about?

He grinned at me and winked before turning to the crowd. “Welcome, welcome to my home!”

Immediately, he was swarmed by every single woman in the room.

I saw my stepsisters angling for him along with literally every other eligible woman in the room.

I took a step back, watching him and the girls. He was a flirt.

He knew exactly how to make each girl smile. He kissed their cheeks, complimented their outfits or makeup.

Once or twice, he’d glance in my direction and wink at me. Every time our eyes met, I’d blush deeply.

Mr. Roman Stone is winking at me.

Soon, it was time for the ballroom dance. The emcee asked the host to open up the dance floor.

All the girls wanted Stone to pick them for his dance. They lined up, batting their eyelashes at him, smiling broadly.

I was in the back of the room, hiding.

But he made his way over there, hand stretched out. “May I have this dance?”

The room fell silent. All eyes were on us. I was nervous. I wanted to run away.

Before I could do that, he took my hand, spinning me into the dancefloor.

“I don’t know how to dance,” I whispered to him.

Roman put his hands around my waist, my hand over his shoulders. Leaning for my ears, his voice caressed me. “Follow my lead.”

He started to spin me around the room. I could feel everyone staring at us. Including my stepsisters. My anxiety shot up.

Thankfully, I was still in a mask. They didn’t recognize me.

Not yet.

“Relax, enjoy it,” Roman said.

We danced and danced. I felt transported into an otherworldly domain. I didn’t want it to end.

Wrapped in his arms, I felt safe and yearned for, and nothing could ever stop this ----

A clock chimed loudly, interrupting the music.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is midnight!” the emcee announced.

Oh shit. Rue!

I sprang away from Roman’s arms. “I have to go. I’m so sorry. I have to go!”

“No, wait, wait, I don’t even know your name!” Roman said, clinging onto my hand.

I moved away from him, running out of the room.

I didn’t even notice my mom’s vintage wristwatch missing until I got home.

TWO DAYS LATER

“Mr. Stone’s here to see you,” the butler, Mark, announced.

My stepsisters sprang up with excitement.

“What the hell? Are you sure? Mr. Roman Stone?” Lizzy, their mother asked.

“Yes, ma’am, his car’s just pulled up outside. He would like to speak to you about your daughters,” Mark said.

My heart sank. What the hell is he doing here?

I was dressed in my maid’s outfit because I was wiping the TV console in the living room.

My hair was a mess. My face was bare.

“Well, well, well, one of you must have made a great impression at the party! Mark, usher him in!” Lizzy said.

My stepsisters spent the next few minutes arranging their gown, dusting off their hair, preparing for him.

I stood behind them, nervous. Would Roman recognize me?

No, he couldn’t possibly have figured me out. We were both wearing masks.

I still don’t know Mr. Stone’s face. I wouldn’t recognize him in a line-up tomorrow. I’m pretty sure he would not recognize me either.

We heard footsteps in the hallway. He was here! My heart skipped a beat or two.

“Mr. Stone, ma’am,” Mark announced.

He appeared in the doorway.

In the morning light without his mask, his face was visible.

Wait a second…. I recognized him.

Holy shit!

The stranger I spent a wild one-night stand with last year was…Mr. Stone???

  • Cinderella's Revenge    Let posterity bear me witness.

Roman’s POV Lizzy stood up when I entered the conference room. She was frowning, glaring at me. The woman could shoot daggers from her eyes. “Why’d you call me here?” I was almost amused at how much she hated me, and how much she had refused to take accountability for what happened. All of this was my fault and none was hers for trying to scam me in the first place. I settled at the head of the long table. No one else was in the room. No one else needed to hear what I had to say. I would’ve come with lawyers if I wanted them to legally document what was about to happen, but this was my last chance at trying to keep the peace. “You need to tell your daughter to back away from me,” I said as soon as I sat down. Lizzy remained standing. “Nah, I don’t think I’ll do that,” she said. She was a stubborn, this one. I’d always known that. In fact, at some point, I might have admired that. She had been like a strong mother hen, protecting her chicks but Lolly had made me see she w

  • Cinderella's Revenge    Get Nasty

Lolly’s POV Rue held my hands as we entered the luxury club. My feet wobbled. I was pumped full of insecurity. All eyes were on us as we entered. Rue carrying an expensive designer bag that she couldn’t afford two years ago; and me rocking a diamond ring that glittered in the sun. We had changed so much. Yet, it was obvious we didn’t belong to this club. Our wealth did not seem natural but Rue was not bothered by it as I am. To her, she had earned her way into high society and she intended to keep it that way. “They’re all staring,” I whispered to Rue. She merely smiled. “Yeah, they are looking at the girl that usurped Cindy. Of course, you are hot in the club.” I could hear the whispers behind us as we took a seat at Rue’s reserved table. I heard women usually paid an absurd amount for a table at the club. I hadn’t paid yet so I was sitting with Rue. I had to meet with Hazel first to get her approval. If Hazel did not approve me, I would not be allowed to enter the club e

Lolly’s POV I could hear my heart pounding fast, blood rushing in my head. The guests were laughing, pointing at the pictures.Who else but Cindy could’ve done this? This was what she came here to do: to ruin my engagement night and destroy my reputation! She wanted to humiliate me in front of these elites. She wanted to remind people of how lowly I used to be. And it was working. I could see it in people’s eyes. They hated I knew exactly where they got the pictures. They used to put me in ugly clothes to take pictures. In some of them displaying now, I was even naked. My fat rolls shamed me. Camera flashes from the paparazzi were going off so I knew this would be in the society papers tomorrow. I heard the women behind me whispering: “God, she was such a whale!” “What does he see in her?” “I simply must have her surgeon’s number. He did a good job fixing that ugly face!” I bit down my lips, trying not to cry. Embarrassment washed over me. “Shut it down!” Roman’s an

Roman’s POV I fell, breathless, on the bed. My body was stick. The sweet scent of sex pervaded the air. Beside me, Lolly’s breasts caught my eyes. Instantly, a renewed burning desire to caress them filled me again. But before I could do anything, a loud pounding came on the door, startling us. Rue. “Lolly, are you okay? The party’s waiting for you!” Rue’s voice came from outside. “Shit, shit, shit! I ruined my makeup! Oh my God,” Lolly said, scrambling away from the bed. “I meant it, you know. Earlier when I said you could cancel the party, I meant it,” I said. She paused for a second. “I know but…all those people came all this way. We should, at least, try. Plus, I really don’t want to start out this relationship by canceling our engagement party. It’s supposed to announce us to the public, right? Lizzy would nothing more than to hear we canceled the engagement. I can’t give her that satisfaction,” she siad. I pulled myself up from the bed. My eyes roamed all over her

  • Cinderella's Revenge    Voyeur

~Lolly’s POV~He lowered his head to the nape of my neck, kissing me gently there. I gasped. My gown fell off my body, pooling around my feet. “I don’t think we should…. They’re waiting for us out there,” I whimpered breathlessly as he raked his fingers through my hair, pulling a little tight. Unwelcome jolts of current sprang down my spine. “Screw them. Concentrate on me right now,” he whispered back. Panic set in my chest. He moved slowly till his hand reached the small of my back. My naked back. He traced my spine slowly with his nails, caressing, teasing. Goosebumps washed all over me. I could barely breathe. I was gasping for air.“Roman…” I moaned. “Say it again….” He ordered softly. His fingers found my heat, ripping my panties to the side. I was throbbing with excitement, eager for his touch. And he knew it. He loved to tease me. He loved the way I fluttered with lust, desperate for him. He loved the way my hips rocked. He knew how to make me come alive. Ever

  • Cinderella's Revenge    Engagement party night

~Roman’s POV~ “Man, you're the only one who can get away with breaking off your former engagement to wed your ex-fiancee's stepsister in less than a month!” my best friend, Miles, teased. Tonight was my second engagement party. This time, to Lolly. The actual light of my life. It didn't feel like a contract marriage. Like an agreement reached to benefit both of us. It felt real. It felt right. It felt like she was the one I was always meant to be with. It didn't seem like a mistake at all. “I mean…you're out of your mind practically marrying a stranger just because you looked in her eyes once and fell in love,” Miles continued. *You don't understand. It's different.”“The Roman Stone I know was allergic to long-term commitments, remember? Boy, back in college, you wouldn't even commit to a girl for a week and now you're actually going through with it? Or do I expect to hear you canceled this engagement for someone else next week!?” Miiles asked. Miles was the only person in the
