Chapter 37

Scarlett's POV

I didn't know how to feel, whether hurt, angry, betrayed or stupid, but I felt all emotions at the same time. I wanted to storm out of the Academy immediately, but for some reason I don't know, security had tightened.

“Why would he lie to me?” I growled breathlessly.

“He's a beast, Scarlett.” Zion said calmly. “And if he actually knows who he is , and why he's in that state, he definitely has a very good reason for not telling you.”

“That doesn't mean anything now.” I snapped. “He shouldn't have lied to me!”

I wondered how I even missed that page of the book in the first instance. I could have avoided all these drama and still gotten more honest reports.

“He probably didn't know how to tell you, Scarlett, you have to calm down.” Zion said.

“Why the fuck are you even defending someone you don't know?” I snapped.

“Because I know what it feels like to be trapped, and to not seek help from the people you love for very valid reasons.” Zion shot back at me.

“I'm still very angry, but are you okay?” I asked, and Zion nodded.

I barely got through my classes without crashing out. I could no longer think about the stupid kiss, but only how Franklin had lied to me.

It explained how he got the house, talks so calmly, and even reads so well.

It was already evening, and the security was already lessening on campus. People were trooping to the movie centre.

“Check the Vargr family tree to see if his name would be there.” I said, and Zion opened the book immediately.

“You said his name is Franklin, right?” Zion asked, and I nodded.

“His name is right here.” Zion said, showing me the book.

“Franklin Orion Vargr.” I read his name, shaking my leg so I'd remain angry. King Jon Vargr was his father, and his mother was Queen Elizabeth Vargr.

“Why would they leave their child in such a state?” I asked, shaking my head. “Why wouldn't they do anything and everything to save him?”

“Let's see if I can find pictures of him online.” Zion said, searching the Internet.

All the news about him only spoke about him being dead.

“Idiots, he's wasting away in the woods.” I hissed, slamming my hand on the desk. “And the fucking King knows about it.”

There were no pictures of Franklin, so I could quite tell what he looked like.

Once it got a little bit darker, I escaped the Academy with Zion’s help. He called the guards away from where they were to watch the movie as ordered by the ‘registrar’.

I sprinted in the woods, angrily and sadly till I approached the house. I stopped running, wondering why he wasn't somewhere outside.

I angrily kicked the door open , and that was when Franklin turned back with shock in his eyes.

“Scarlett, what are you doing here?!” He shouted at me. One of his hands was strapped to a rack that held his long and strong arm up in the air. He was trying to strap up the other one without help when I stormed in. I somehow wasn't bothered about it. It looked like a bdsm tool set.

“Franklin Orion fucking Vargr!” I yelled, and his widened eyes widened a little more.

“Scarlett, now is not the time.” Franklin growled.

“Then when is?!” I snapped. “Why do you feel like you can just lie to me when all I've done is care about you, and be worried about you?”

“Scarlett, if you come tomorrow, I'll explain everything to you, but not tonight.” He yelled, and I noticed his golden eyes starting to have a red glint to it.

“Why not tonight?” I hissed.

“It's a fucking full moon!” Franklin yelled, and that was when I remembered what he had told me the previous day. It now made a lot of sense that he was tying himself up. I was too blinded by anger to remember that I was walking into what could be my end.

“Well, I'm not leaving.” I said stubbornly, very sure that he wouldn't even try to kill me.

“Please, don't be stubborn.” Franklin begged, moving close to tears. “I can't live with myself if I hurt you.”

5“Well, you make sick jokes about killing me, so it wouldn't be so bad when you commit the actual deed.” I hissed.

“This is not something to joke about.” He begged. “Please leave , and I'll explain later. I'm running out of time.”

“Well, you had better used that time to explain so I'd have a better chance of survival.” I said, feeling possessed. It's only a possessed person that'd engage in the madness I've decided to wholeheartedly participate in.

“Tie my other arm first, and make sure it's firm.” Franklin asked. I grabbed a stool, and moved it to where he was. I strapped his other hand to the very strong wooden hold that was there.

“Grab that silver sword just in case anything happens.” Franklin said, giving up on me leaving.

I grabbed the sword, making sure it didn't come in contact with my skin.

“Now, answer my questions.” I ordered, and he sighed.

“Yeah, I am a Vargr, and yeah, I was born in a royal household.” Franklin said, and the redness in his eyes began to spread slowly. I took that as a hint that he was already getting closer to losing his consciousness.

“How did you find out?”

“That doesn't matter.” I hissed at him. “Tell me everything.”

“There's no time!” Franklin hissed.

“Then say it very fast, because I'm not really opposed to death.” I said , and Franklin bowed his head in defeat.

“I said leave!!!” He shouted at me at the top of his voice. I was shaken deep in my soul, but I didn't show it.

“You're wasting time, so speak.” I blurted out stubbornly.

“Well then,” Franklin sighed. “I'll be very fast.”

“Four years ago …”
