43. Behind bars

A relieved sigh escaped my lips when I saw Rowan and Cassandra coming out of the bathroom. She was wrapped in a towel, but my eyes ran across her body, as though I could see through the towel.

I stood up and dropped the tray on the nightstand. This morning, Jules had gone back home to get a bag for her and herself. I'd told her not to worry about the rest as we'd have someone get it for them.

I didn't want any of them to run into her father.

I opened the bag and brought out a sweatshirt and a pair of sweatpants. Seeing the clothes in my hand, Rowan took her to the bed, making her seat on it. He kissed her shortly and left her to me.

"How are you doing, Cara?" I asked softly as I removed the towel from her body. Red dusted her cheeks, making me shake my head. She was acting like I hadn't seen her naked before.

"My body still hurts but it's way better than yesterday."
