Jades pov

I ask them to leave me alone. As I weep tears for what has happened. the weight of what’s going to happen when I shift in a few weeks.

I understand why Luca did it. His literally my best friend and I know how I would feel losing him. But he just prolonged my death that’s all. I fall asleep after crying until I have no tears left.

It must have been a few hours because Hannah and the pack doctors gently knock at the door.

“Come in.” I say as I sit up and wipe the sleep away.

“How are you feeling?” Hannah asks.

“Im feeling great actually, better than before. I feel strong. You know Hannah, I’m not mad at him. I was hurt and scared but I’m not mad.”I say.

“I know,We will figure this out.” Hannah says.

The doctor looks over some tests and say I can leave in a few hours. “Jade, you feel strong you have a powerful aura, this could be a benefit when you shift in a few weeks. Stay positive .” The doctors says as he leaves.

Hannah hands me a bag, and says “Here are some clothes and toiletries, I grabbed from your house. Go shower then we can talk more.”

I thank her and head to the shower. As I look in the mirror I notice a change not only do I have more muscles and toning.but I swear I’m 2 inches taller. Which is a lot as I’m pretty dang short at only 5’2. I take a nice hot shower and get dressed. As I walk out of the bathroom drying my long curly black hair.

I get a surprise. my son Wyatt is stretched out on the hospital bed.

When he notices me he jumps up and wraps me in the biggest hug.

“Mom, I’m so happy you’re safe.Uncle Luca called me told me you got hurt.” He tells me as his squeezing me to death.

“I’m fine, I love you.” I tell him as I hold him tighter. As The thought of him losing me scares me. Other than my sister and her daughter. It’s just us.

Hannah comes back in and lets me know I’m good to go; she made them hurry with the discharge. When we leave I notice a shift in the pack. They normally treat me as a human. They respect me because of my friendship with Luca, But now they slightly bow their head. Strange.

We make it to the pack house. Wyatt gives me a kiss in the forehead and heads to find Lucas sons.

Hannah and I head up to her office. As I sit down. I sigh “what am I going to do,Hannah? I’m all he has.”

“we are going to figure this out. We can travel to some of the neighboring packs to see if you have a mate there. I also have my friend Elenor. She is a white witch. “ she says hopeful.

I look at her in despair. “I honestly don’t want a mate,Hannah. You know how I feel about it. I don’t want someone to be forced to love me because the moon goddess says, hey love this person.” I say.

“Oh girl, you say that, but they are your other half. I know your past relationships have been hard but your mate is everything you aren’t. They ground you.”she says and I can see a twinkle in her eye and already know she is thinking of Luca.

“I guess, we will approach that later. Hey i have a question. Why has the pack shifted towards me? Like they have more respect? It’s not because they know I’m about to die a slow and painful death in a few weeks, is it?” I say with a slight sarcastic chuckle.

“No, and you’re not going to die. Luca nor I will not allow that to happen. that’s one thing I want to talk to Eleanor about, your aura has changed and you are powerful. Your dominance is demanding respect, I’m not sure if it’s left over effects of Lucas blood or if it is your wolf. “ she sounds so happy about it.

Right as I’m about to reply, I hear a knock on the door. A maid brought us some tea and lunch. My stomach growls at the smell of food. I shake my head. Realizing it’s been at least a day since I’ve eaten.

Hannah looks at me and laughs. “Oh you think this is bad just wait your wolf is waking up so you are going to be starving, make sure you eat a lot to help give you strength for what’s to come.” She says with a smile.

“Fun, I love food so that shouldn’t be hard. What else do I need to expect? “I ask her while eating the best sandwich of my life.

“Your sense are going to be getting stronger your smell, touch, hearing and sight. I’ll teach you to meditate to help when you can mind link us. You will have to be a pack member. But Luca is working on that now. “ she sounds cheerful when telling me this.

“ Ok, sound to overwhelming, how long do I have till I shift?” Ask her concerned.

“2 weeks. You have a lot to learn in 2 weeks but I know we can handle it. Can Wyatt take over the ranch so we can visit a few packs?” She asks.

“ Yes,that shouldn’t be a problem or I can get some of the ranch hands to step up as well. We have a big show coming in a few months and a lot of young horses to get tuned up.” I look down I’m already on my 3rd sandwich. What the heck!

Hannah laughs! “Imagine growing 3 young alpha pups.”

“Hannah, why did they attack me? “ I look at her seriously. Wolves typically don’t attack humans. Even the rouges know not to. It’s a death warrant.the wolf hunters will come after anyone who attacks humans.

She looks at me with sad eyes. “I don’t know Jade. We think it might be connected to the attacks down south.”

“They said I was going to be a slave.” I said with a shiver that ran down my spine.

She looks confused and angry. “Wait ,what? We have heard of rouges attacks lately have been taking prisoners.but slaves have been outlawed for hundreds of years.” She says almost yelling.

“Yeah, while I was held down. One shifted and said I would be his slave. But I pissed him off and he dug his claws into my chest. He was scared of something. He shifted right after.” I tell her but the flash back of the memory made want to cry.

“That would be Luca him and his guards showed up and he left no survivors. He was furious. When he saw them biting you. He lost control and killed all three of them. Didn’t even leave one alive for interrogate.” She said with pride.

We had been talking for hours. Wyatt came to the door. And says. “Mom, are you ready to head home?”

I look at him and say ,” you know, being in my bed sounds wonderful! “

“Luca,has arranged a driver for you. some guards are going to be at the ranch for a while. “Hannah says.

I roll my eyes. Of course he has.

I give Hannah and hug and head down stairs. When I walk out a 5 black suvs are parked up front. You can tell 4 of them are packed with warriors. She chuckles. “you know Luca.”
