It begins

Jade pov

I wake up early the next morning. When I walk into the bathroom I can still smell the sage like it was still burning. I’m that’s weird. But continue on with my morning routine. I head to the office and get everything in order. I know Wyatt has this under control. His smart and always organized. Luca always joked he would make a great alpha.

When I finish I head down to make him and I breakfast this will be our last few hours for at least a week. If I don’t get answers by then I will not waste my last week and spend every moment with him and my family.

I open the refrigerator and think on what to cook. I love cooking and can almost make anything. But today is special I know the prefect thing. Sweet Fry bread, Potato’s and onions, eggs, sausage and bacon. I might even have some venison backstrap!

As I get all started some of the warriors guards come in and sit down at the table. Good thing I’m making enough to feed an army. Everett my favorite lead warrior trails in behind him.

“Everett, I didn’t even know you were here!” I say excited to see him!

“I’m sorry i didn’t say hello last night, I came later, didn’t want to disturb you.” He says.

As he gives me a hug I notice his smell. As I take a deeper breath. he looks at me like his seen an alien.

“Dude you smell good, don’t look at me like that. Did you get a new cologne?” I ask.

“No, what do I smell like?” He asks. I see excitement feel his eyes.

“Like pine and wood ash almost like a campfire. It’s so Familiar like my child hood.” I say

“Oh my god. Jade one of your wolf sense has come! Wait this is to soon! Typically you don’t get them till right before you shift.” He says worried

“I’m going to see Hannah today so I’ll let her know.” I say as I continue to cook. But that dread feeling is back and I just can’t place it.

Wyatt walks in and you can tell his happy with is childhood favorites for breakfast. And sits down with a cup of coffee talking to Everett while I finish up.

I lay out all of the food for the warriors but make a plate for wyatt and Everett, to be honest they need 2 plates one growing boy and a wolf.

“This is the best fry bread I ever had. What kind of magic do you have. It’s better than my moms. ” Everett says.

“Thanks. It’s all how you prepare it. Gotta do it with love. Hey I have a question for you. Is there an order of how your senses I guess you would say awaken?” I ask.

“Nope? I’ve noticed it’s mainly when you either need it the most or something triggers them. I know you are nervous about this all. But you are strong. And the moon goddess always has a plan.” He says as he takes a huge bite of backstrap.

As I sit back and eat my 4th piece of backstrap, I sigh. Nothing is ever easy in my life. As I think to myself I’m hopeful it’s going to work out. I look at wyatt while his talking to the other warriors about wrestling moves Luca was showing him.

Everett, placed his hand on my arm. Looks at me. “I’ll protect him with my life. Even after you realize everything is going to be ok, you are family. My wolf is so protective over you. I don’t understand it since you are not my mate.”he says.

“Thank you, you know I love you like a brother.”I say.

We finish breakfast and get everything cleaned. Go over all of horses that need exercise and what cattle needs to be moved. I get a bag packed for a few days. Kiss him and tell Everett good bye.

Honestly I’m relieved there will be some warriors will be at the ranch.

The ride to over is smooth. Luca had a warrior drive me. Which I was ok with. I ccould use the silence. I’ve been busy learning this new smell. I knew they said every wolf has their own scent. But I didn’t know it was so special to each person.

When I get there Luca and Hannah are waiting for me. I get out and Hannah gives me a hug. Poor Luca looks like a scared pup. A alpha looking scared of a little human. Well I guess part human. It’s quite the sight. Hannah pushes him playfully.

“Luca?” I say.

“I’m sorry. I was trying to save you. I didn’t have time to think the consequences.” He blurts.

“it’s ok. I’m sorry for freaking out on you. You know I love you. We are still Bestfriend’s.” I tell him.

The weight of the world seems to come off of his shoulders.

Hannah wraps her arms around him and pulls him close.

“I told you she would forgive you.” She tells him. “He hasn’t slept since it happened:” she says when she looks at me.

We walk inside and head to Luca office.

“Elenor should be here in a hour or so and I’ve scheduled a few pack visits. Now we haven’t told any packs why we are coming. Some of them are friends and a few lunas have had a few pups. Just going to visit and send our blessings.” Hannah says as she sits down.

“Why haven’t you told them?”I ask curious.

Luca jumps in and says. “Because we don’t want anyone to try to force you to find a mate. We are going to give you the option of wearing a scent blocker. That way you will be able to smell your mate but have a chance to meet him before he tries to be possessive.”

“Some wolves are very impatient when they find their mate. We want you to be able to choose. take your time even tho time is limited. “Hannah says as she puts her hand on mine.

“Also the alpha king is visiting running moons pack in a few days!”Hannah says with her eyes lighting up.

“We have already been invited there and we are going to bring you! Honestly it’s been a while since we have seen him. His a good but strict man.”Luca says.

“He really is amazing. He came when we had one of our pups! His late mate was a wonderful childhood friend of mine. Though He has changed after loosing her. We are lucky it didnt kill him as well.” Hannah looks lost in her thoughts as she talks.

“ that sounds cool. Never met a royal before.” I say.

“Hey guys I noticed this tattoo,yesterday.” I say as I pull down my shirt to show them”

Hanna looks at Luca. “ That’s interesting, I remember Reading about a crescent wolf pack, years ago. They disappeared but they were royals from far north.” She says.

“ some of the strongest wolves in history.“ luca says.

“What happened to them?” I ask.

“The last mention to them was about 50 years ago. They were hunted to extinction. They say if you drink their blood you would gain their power.” Luca says worried.

“Let’s keep this between us three. Jade try to not let anyone see that tattoo. Specially high ranking wolves.” Luca says.

“ ok, I can do that.” I say.

“I’ll read in a few things while you guys are gone.” He adds.
